JOSH HOMME LOVES TOXIC BY BRITNEY SPEARS Josh from Queens of the Stone Age on the "Kyle Meredith with..." podcast. Link to listen here: podfollow.com/... #QOTSA #Podcast #QueensOfTheStoneAge
If you are truly a musician, go dissect the song blank space. It's an absolute masterpiece of Pop functionality. I've been producing records for 40 years and it's just off the charts. Fucking good
The entire songs for the deaf album is damn near impossible to cover on drums 😂. If they still sold 8 tracks, I'd buy just the drum track for the advertised price.
I'm a drummer, I love QOTSA with Dave, I live them with Joey, I love them with their current drummer, and I loved Toxic by Britney Spears when it came out, I think I was 12 or something
I guess I'm not a music lover, even though I listen to hours of music everyday, since I can't listen to country without wanting to destroy the source of the music or claw my ears off.
He's spot on. For many years I thought I was cooler and better than people who likes to pop🤦♀️ I only listenend to some singer/song writers, rock, metal myself. Glad I grew up and now I listen to all genres. Life is much more fun that way! Toxic is a great song btw!
He isn't spot on. She never wrote toxic. The original demo is actually so good that you would swear that Britney added nothing to her version. This guy has a point, but it's kind of funny listening to an acclaimed artist not even knowing the music he claims to enjoy listening to. Him acknowledging other artists just adds to the pain of it. Like imagine hypothetical if YOU made toxic, and they just give her all the credit in the video. But that's just the reality. Nobody knows the version that Cathy Dennis made. Sure it happens a lot in music, but in this particular case it's different. You listen to the demo and it's pretty clear that the Britney spears put no effort into that song 😂.
@@treesome3979 that’s the point to get across, it’s not extreme because it’s also you’re choice to only be in your little bubble of what you like, but at the very least acknowledging other genres and their influences on one another is important for one’s self growth as an artist imo at least, it’s like with painting even if you only have a couple of colors you like as favorites it doesn’t hurt to have more and expand your palette to choose from
@@didybopintitys I get your point but to me Reggaeton is not music. To use your comparison, if metal music is painting with brushes, pop is colored pencils and rap is handprints on a white canvas, all perfectly acceptable art methods. Reggaeton would be throwing a bucket of melted cheese on the ground and somehow pretending it’s on the same level as the other two. Also maybe you get a Latina twerking on the cheese.
Yes sure, but music is music.. the genres are made up by exactly the persons, he described! It's nice for orientation as a teenager but when you're an adult you don't need to define yourself through a music hente
For anyone whos a fan of josh go watch his episode on anthony bourdains show one of the best episodes ever that man was a beautiful mind RIP TONY YOURE SO FUCKING MISSED BROTHER🙏🙏
Josh Homme exactly right..a true musician and music lover can love all different styles and genres, this is how my son is, he's the best guitar player in STL and his range of music has absolutely no boundaries
I like how he mentions The Cars. That solo for Paper Machete, classic Homme style but I can’t help but think of the solo for ‘Just What I Needed’. It’s a sick solo though! So good.
"Look, we're soundtracking our lives here" just the way he says that made me laugh. Like it's a highly urgent dilemma that people have to understand or all is lost 😂 Homme is awesome and hilarious, love'em!
Me too. I went to see Metallica for my 13th birthday. My first live gig. Kyuss opened for them and stole the show for me. I didn’t know who they were but I couldn’t get them out of my head.
There are gems in every genre, there is also garbage in every genre. I listen to everything, and I don't limit myself. But there are songs and bands I don't like.
Yep. I love all kinds of music (other than modern country). 😂 Some days I feel like listening to Queens, some days, I'm listening to Flatt and Scruggs, Post Malone, David Bowie, NWA, Alice in Chains, James Brown, etc. People need to broaden their horizons.
The original demo of toxic by Cathy Dennis explains a lot. An actual artist made that song, and it's a banger. You immediately realize Britney spears basically slapped her name over the greatness of another artist.
I love how all the really good musicians and music makers all share one thing: a love for good music. No matter what year, no matter what genre, there’s always been good music through out time
Fiddler's Green, Denver CO, right? I was supposed to be at that show but couldn't make it. That sucks, but at least I still have my memories of when I first saw them circa Lullabies to Paralyze at the Paramount.
I never would've thought that Josh Homme would like "Toxic" by Britney Spears, nor even listen to her in general! But it makes me happy that he listens to her
The original demo of that song was made by a real artist. Britney spears may as well not have been involved with that song. If not for her infamy, it probably would have ended up as an obscure(although well loved) tune.
I'm not a fan of britteny's music because it always B Flat. Ya gnawameen? Consequently, what i am REALLY into: Kicking photographers in the face while they do their job. It's SUPER classy.
You sound like a Brit . In the UK, radio stations play a huge cross section of music , Willy Nelson one minute, The Strangers the next .Tom Jones, Isley Brothers, Boz Scaggs, UB 40, Black eyed peas , Sabrina , Kendrick Lamarr , Beatles Coldplay .The Blues , Soul , Rap , contemporary, pop , BRITTNEY, and who can forget Queens of the Stone age . Come on in , the water is fine .
I get it. (I don't care for the song myself). But I would say basically what his is saying, but it's Kylie Minogue "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and "Slow". And Sade all day.
Do you have any idea how much shit i get for liking queens of the stone age and foo fighters and shit like that while being black? I tell people....why would i only like rap? Too much music in the world to like JUST ONE THING
Love him so much, I wish I could give him a big hug, he's been through so much with his ex. He needs pure love in his life. A Cancer woman can heal his heart... oh! That's interesting, I'M a Cancer!? 🤔🤔🤔
