Josh Pate On Bucket List CFB Traditions To Experience (Late Kick Cut) 

Something cool to note about FSU: during regular season games, Chief Osceola will ride in on Renegade and plant the spear in the middle of the field to signify that games have begun. But during the rivalry game vs UF, Chief Osceola dismounts Renegade and holds the spear over his head before planting it in the ground. This is to signify that war has begun, rather than recreation. Pretty cool how they implemented that aspect of Seminole culture into the football game!

I think I speak for all my fellow Hog fans when I say our favorite tradition here in the great state of Arkansas is believing into the hype that maybe this year will be different and actually thinking we could be a good team and having all the talent of a 9+ win team only to have our team crush our dreams and shit on our hopes and find ways to sink us into a deeper state of depression and drinking. Yay piggies.

As a Bama fan, I have to give Auburn the nod on this one. That eagle fly in ceremony is the best.

As a second generation recent graduate from Texas A&M, I will say that you do get Texas A&M. That’s pretty rare, but you’ve spoken for me pretty well as long as I’ve been a fan. From the outside looking in you can’t understand it, and from the inside looking out you can’t explain it. Gig’em.

Auburns Eagle flight is one of the coolest

It's not a huge game in terms of top 10 teams, but the entrance of the Cadets and Midshipmen during the Army/Navy game is on my list!!

The Iowa wave is still the best. It’ll hit different when you have kids. It hits the hardest as a average fan when you know someone up there in Stead Children’s hospital. Being up there when the wave is occurring and looking down at the field is a completely different level. It leaves you awestruck. Night games with the flashlights are the coolest, in my opinion.

I didn't grow up in Pennsylvania or Big Ten country, so I didn't quite get the White Out hype. Then, I went to school at PSU and the 2016 White Out game was the most incredible sporting event I've ever been too. Obviously I'm biased now, but would recommend it to anyone if they have a chance to go

Oceola riding out is the coolest entry in CFB, narrowly edging out the Masked Rider at Tech. You got to give credit to the guys who run Raffie out onto the field. The White Out is a cool thing to have on a bucket list and I wouldn't mind seeing that someday.

Noles in 2013 were feared, I remember that much. The sheer pride of Chief Osceola planting the spear is near overbearing. Single handedly the reason why college football is better with FSU in the National talks. My Gator brothers and sisters, I will never not like watching y’all do bad. But for the sake of the sport, let’s get both our teams back on top 🙏 (and I, personally, am more than okay if Miami never reaches national relevance again lol)

As a lifelong FSU fan since the early 80s, I’m of course biased. I will say that if I wasn’t such a FSU homer that the white out games at Penn St would be my favorite.

I've been to Penn State (and multiple CFB stadiums all over the USA) games since the early 70's and I will say....THE White Out is just mind-blowing....AND voice-losing!! I have met people from California, Texas, Tennessee, Florida, and even Ireland that game just to "witness" THE White Out in person and left EXPIERENCING it instead! Don't believe that? Watch clips of 2007 when Jimmy "Pickle" was running for his life and Charlie "Ate too Much" Weiss said, "Notre Dame will NEVER play Penn State again!" Or the 2016 defeating of the Ohio State Poison Chestnuts. Or when Michigan was the victim...I mean opponent and Harbaugh called a Time-Out before the ball was snapped on the first play because his squad was all screwed up in formation. Then again in 2022 when Minnesota had a False Start on the first play of the game. Penn State doesn't have fans....WE ARE....FAMILY! With over 700,000 living alumni....out of a population of 330 million.... that fan in the stand screaming their head of on EVERY play, penalty, timeout non-stop till after the game and then some....is either a student, alumni or related to a Penn Stater.

For me, an oft overlooked tradition in College football is the Nebraska Tunnel walk, ~90 thousand screaming "Husker Power" and clapping proceeded by the video of the walk.... Nebraska might be down right now, bit it's a great tradition.

As a die hard Clemson fan I have to agree sandstorm at Williams Brice is pretty cool, only cool Thing about that city or team.

My two biggest bucket list traditions that look awesome but I haven't gotten to experience yet are the Penn State White Out and Ralphie running out at Colorado. I think it's a lot more telling seeing fans talk about traditions from other schools they think are awesome compared to a homer trying to hype their own team up.

Won’t Back Down is the perfect tribute to a Gainesville legend, and the perfect way to get fans amped up for the fourth quarter

Yes it was FSU-Clemson in 2016 and no, Clemson didn't exactly win because of Watson's magic alone. That game featured two of the worst calls in CFB in succession you'd never want to see. Dalvin Cook had ripped off a 43-yard run to Clemson's 34 yard line when the ref threw a flag for a chop block on our fullback, Freddie Stevenson. If you thought chop blocks require two players, one blocking high and the other blocking low, they do except for this one. The replay showed a legal block at the front of the defender's hip that even the announcers thought was a bad call. But, it got worse. When Jimbo Fisher complained about the call to the ref, he flagged him for unsportsmanlike conduct. So, instead of the ball being at Clemson's 34 yard line and FSU threatening to go up by two scores after a turnover on downs, the ball was pushed back to FSU's 12-yard line where Clemson had an easier time defending them. The ball was eventually punted back to Clemson and that's when Watson did his thing.

With A&M, I don’t think it’s ever going to be cool when talking about the traditions. Like white PSU is bonafide “cool”. Won’t back down at Florida is cool. But Aggie war hymn and the hundred other Aggie traditions are actually traditions and every student practices them. Been to the Texas/Oklahoma game back in the 80's...the A&M vs. Texas game was much more exciting. Aggies are as annoying as Texans get but they do get after it as fans! One of my favorites and in the top 5 on my list. They don't do that bonfire anymore since the accident killed some kids. But I do need to get back again to see their expanded stadium. And I need to get back to an LSU game too. The other venue has to be Washington. I want to arrive by boat and party on the lake before the game. My last on the Top 5 is making me think now? So many places, so little time!
