Florida was a "big boy" program before the wheels fell of. It's been a long time, but they seem to be getting their shit back together. If they win 6/7 of those games, the fanbase will be satisfied. That is the toughest schedule in the history of the program and that's not an understatement.

There’s a difference between reasons and excuses. That said, there are reasons why Napier’s success at Florida has been slower than expected. First, he arrived right when the NIL and portal changes were taking off and not understood by almost everyone from fans, coaches, and the NCAA themselves. Secondly, rebuilding the roster with high recruiting classes also came with the challenges of not only Alabama and Georgia playing at a high level, but FSU and Miami hiring coaches that could compete for in state talent with top recruiters. Napier has made positive changes that should start showing on the field in the next couple of years. Where we once had a net loss through the portal, we now are showing net gains to the roster. Give him time, another I’ll timed coaching change would set us back 4-6 years.

I keep saying this, but genuinely Napier's season is very likely to be judged (internally in terms of retaining him, fans will of course be fans) by how much he loses by and not how many games he wins. This is absolute abuse out of the SEC scheduling committee. I even think if Florida beats Miami game one and is off to the races, there's little chance they navigate the later half of their season. Florida has made all these fantastic changes, but so have a lot of the teams they face. I'm going to get flack from the SEC side of things, but Miami is the most talented roster they face until November when the Gators square up against Georgia. If they can't beat Miami there's little chance if they hit 500, but if they do, there's really no reason to believe they can't spin off 7 wins before facing Georgia. Georgia is also proof of why that scheduling is so heinous, and few believe florida can get more than 7 wins this year. The almighty Georgia, who should have been in the final top 4 rankings and made the playoffs, who were ultimately derailed by Saban's final Bama team nearly didn't make it to the SEC title game unscathed. GaTech pushed them all four quarters, forced Carson Beck to play the whole game, and were a drive away from tying it up. You can make all the excuses in the world, but that's the presumptive #1 struggling to put away a 6-6 team. That's what late season games can look like under the best of circumstances...Florida is not facing the best of circumstances to end their 2024 campaign.

My thing is… I believe in the coaching staff. I believe in the players. I believe in the head coach. But does Billy Napier believe in Billy Napier? I honestly feel like he doesn’t completely trust his own process and says that everyone needs to trust the process bc he’s trying to convince, not us, but himself. Look, 30 years ago, Florida having back to back losing seasons was unheard of. We won in 1996 with the Head Ball Coach, then he left for the NFL later. 20 years ago, Florida had just gotten over The Zooker era, and was about to start rebuilding and win 2 NC in 3 years. 10 years ago, we were rid of Muschamp and won three straight SEC East titles with McElwain. Those are the high points of the past 3 decades. We have to have a coach that believes in himself and believes in the players and the staff and the fans too. Without all of those coming together, it’s tough to look your team in the eye and know that they know they aren’t as good as Georgias and Alabamas players bc they know you don’t believe in yourself. He was great at Louisiana. He comes from my home state of Georgia. His father is a legendary coach in Georgia (look him up). But Billy Napier needs to be his own coach, trust his own process and let these guys who put on the uniform of one of the most prestigious schools in the SEC know that they can believe in him bc he believes in himself.

The problem with arguing that their record won't be a true reflection of what they are is that they're coming off their third straight losing season. So if they don't win 7 games this year, its 4 in a row. They haven't had 4 straight losing seasons since the late 1930s. This is uncharted territory for UF. The fans can whine all they want but it's the boosters who decide things in CFB. It's always been that way but now it's out in the open. I won't pretend to know what the boosters think but I believe if Florida takes a step forward ... and they will ... Napier will get 2025. All those Freshman they played last year now have experience. They have filled their holes. They have depth which they were missing for the last few years. They got a stud QB in the wings who might book if Napier is gone not to mention a hefty buyout to replace him. The boosters also know if they keep playing musical coaches the teams get worse talent wise and the chances of getting a great coach who knows after a few years without a Natty they will be fired is nonexistent. Unless Florida just collapses completely, Napier will get another year.

Seriously, though, if what you say is true about your visit (I loved those videos, by the way) and it feels like an Ohio State or Bama around the Florida program, then I'm with ya. This is going to be a much better Florida team this year and Napier is going to be just fine. I love that saying, "Results are downstream of process." The question is how far downstream? Napier had _so much_ operational stuff to fix, a lot of CEO type stuff that needed to be invented or revamped. The collective was bad, they redid it. The evaluation stuff had to be overhauled to his way of doing it. The culture was _way_ different. Just think about the two types of people Dan Mullen and Billy Napier are. They're almost extreme opposites. So, I mean, Billy had _a lot_ to fix. Plus, nobody is perfect and he tripped a couple times trying to fix things. He made a couple mistakes here and there. So, two to three years ...seems about right. But, I think we will know right away when they take on Miami at The Swamp. I hope they smoke the 'Canes but we will see. Great video.

@@Freshy_Jonesregardless of which fan base he is a part of he is right. Napier should’ve been canned the moment he made it clear that he wasn’t hiring an OC.

Having a losing record at florida in 2 years is pathetic and making every excuse in the book for Napier because you get to interview him is also disappointing

He did struggle the first two years. However mullen really fucked everything up before he left and he spent those 2 years building a foundation; locker room was toxic, no rotational pieces, no older guys to look upon with young guys. I do agree that he could've fixed some staff issues with the first hires, but it didn't happen that way. This year will be different as billy has everything in place to suceed.

the only thing in gainesville that is getting hot is the seat billy napier is sitting on. he is a clown and in a job that is too big for him. he wont survive the season.
