Whilst covering the fight against Islamic State in Mosul, our crew came under direct fire, dodged booby traps and was then targeted by a suicide bomber. They describe what it's like to narrowly avoid a gruesome death.

I think the Iraqi military deserves allot of credit for taking back control of their country. The U.S. and coalition forces trained them very well! And, big up to the Kurds as well!

I think ISIS made a huge mistake underestimating the will and determination of the Kurdish people. They had enough of being told what to do and the the Kurds bit back more than ISIS thought they would

When I was in Iraq in 2009, I remember when a truck bomb blew up the Foreign Ministry building. We were about 6 miles away and it caused the equivalent of a 5.00 earthquake. Our entire building shook.

Haha 😂 I took a VBIED to the face in Mosul, Iraq 2005 ( getting blown up in a Stryker) I was the air guard lol still have a piece of sharpnel from that day. It missed my head by 2 inches...life crazy that way.

I can’t keep thinking about Shawn’s face on footage, that’s the look of someone who’s scared to the bone and moves mostly by instinct. If they were soldiers they would be getting awards for bravery, being reporters, getting in and out alive with a story is their reward, being brave comes later when the adrenaline dies down and they have time to think what just happened. I think for survival reasons I'd rather be a squaddie.

It would have been much easier to visualise the location of their vehicle in relation to where the VB-IED was detonated if they had used the aerial shots from the IS drone to highlight the locations of each. I can't work out where they were in relation to the IS bomber when the device was triggered?

They can't.... Or shouldn't or wouldn't. The press are supposed to have ethics which prevents them from taking sides. Therefore it's frowned upon for a journalist to pick up a weapon. The hell with that.... I'd be Rambo.
