Robert today is a great vocalist . Love his stuff on😊 first VV LP.

He was a very good singer and the other guys in the band liked him too. Herbie Herbert, the manager, said that Robert was a puffed poodle and he couldn't wait to get rid of him. Besides he was eyeing Steve Perry already.

This guy has a rockers voice as where Steve definitely had a velvety coroner's voice that was more versatile. Robert can definitely sing too.❤ ❤ It's all good in the hood yo. 😅 👍

He didn't write that song. Ross Valory's wife wrote the poem where the song originated from.

Absolutely and they are pure canon for Journey. In addition to his work on "Wheel in the Sky," Fleischman is also credited with co-writing the early Journey songs "Anytime" and "Winds of March," which feature the vocals of Steve Perry and keyboardist Greg Rolie. Winds of March is a great song too.

Except Steve Perry isn't singing the song. This was in 1977 before you started with journey. This is Robert Fleischman. He was involved in composing a lot of their famous songs. But he only ever appeared as the vocalist on one of their album songs.

Robert and Greg wrote the song, Robert was only with the band a few short months, the song was rerecorded

Jodi Henley, the way they got rid of him was pretty shitty.

They didn't replace him.

All the shots were being called by Herbie Herbert (in consultation with the label). Herbie wanted Robert out and so he was. Herbie said the other members liked Fleischman and wrote well with him.

And he did it with VVI

They sang co-lead, gregg then Steve ect.

And yes, he sucks

His vocals are rushing. The guy can't keep time. Rolie sounds better with the lead on this song. What's with the mullet hair cut? Ouch.

To me, he does not look like Steve Walsh. I'm a Kansas superfan but yeah. Fleischman in my opinion doesn't look like Steve Walsh at all. His vocals also don't even compare to Walsh's. Funny story, Journey was my gateway band and they stayed as my number 1 for a while, until I heard Kansas. I think Steve Walsh is better than Steve Perry by the smallest of margins. I used to think Perry was the best, but when I heard Walsh.... oh boy oh boy. He doesn't have that slight nasal quality Perry has once he goes up high and he stays crystal clear even when he goes way high up in range. His power is also the same as Perry's if not better, and his voice is way more soulful. He can sound very good in lower octaves as well. Just listen to Kansas's album Two For The Show (specifically first 12 songs, primarily The Wall, Icarus Borne On Wings of Steel, and Song For America) which is a live album recorded in their prime and Walsh's vocal prime and he SOARS. Way better than Perry in my opinion. Check out those three songs on the album and tell me what you think afterwards if you feel like it.

He was also the one who was going to sing on Asia's debut album, but declined because he felt John Wetton's voice was perfect for the songs already.

It was an era where rock bands sang about love, & love driven lust. Youth. Hardly anyone talks or sings about love anymore. It's sad. So I am with you on this. 🤘✌💚🌹

Perry is back with a new solo album, he has no interest in re joining Journey.

Steve Perry is enjoying his immense fame and fortune while Arnel sounds like a karaoke singer trying to replicate Perry's voice. Imagine never being known for your own original work...but instead as a knock-off clone wannabe.

@@84corpsvet60 If somebody is trying to make a living singing in this world the vast majority of them are singing familiar songs that somebody else wrote and popularized. Specifically in the case of Journey & Arnel, if he had tried to make the songs his own, he likely wouldn't have gotten the gig in the first place. And Arnel and Steve hardly look like clones, that's for darn sure. Journey's still out there touring and Steve's still getting paid (and appreciates the income, I'm sure.)

I think he definitely was not the best lead singer that Journey. I personally think the best one they've had is Arnel Pineda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like him, but I don't think he's the best lead singer that Journey has ever had. I personally think Arnel Pineda is better than Steve Perry, and I think he's the best lead singer Journey's ever had.

I agree with you on that. He hits notes Perry could never hit because Perry could never sound this bad . Even if Perry tried he couldn't sound this bad. 😂😂
