Journey Distant Eyes CD. A Gypsy Eye release. The CD is a live performance by Journey on march 2, 1983 at Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. The CD also includes 5 demo songs that I talk about in this video. There are also clips from the two songs from 1985, "With A Tear" and "For You" (Let It Rock You). This was originally aq Music Video for "With A Tear" but the copyright police took it away. Please enjoy what's left of the video and...if you want to see the whole video go here;

I love 'With a Tear". I wish they would've been able to record the version with Steve's vocals. It has that amazing feel-good sound from the '86 era.

It definitely would’ve sounded good/flowed well on Raised On Radio!

I remember the fleshed out instrumental Jon and Neal made of With a Tear for the box set after the band went on hiatus. If I recall it was something that was never fully developed for ROR. I think it was the same with another song they worked up into an instrumental called Into Your Arms--also on the box set.

The 12th Song wouldn't be called "For You" because Journey already recorded and released a song called "For You," which was a demo recorded by Robert Fleischman in 1977. The song was rerecorded and released by Fleischman with Gregg and Neal on the Fleischman's first solo album. The demo was released in 1991 on Time3 Disc 1. In fact, "Let It Rock You," which is for more likely the actual title. Both demo versions of "With a Tear" and "Let It Rock You" have been on RU-vid for years. The credits for the songs you gave are also slightly in correct. In 1985, Ross Valory and Steve Smith were let go, with Ross being initially replaced with Bob Glaub, who's base parts were paired with Steve Smith, both of whom are featured on three tracks from Raised on Radio (Positive Touch, Eyes of a Woman and Why Can't This Night Go On Forever). Randy Jackson, who was on Frontiers (After the Fall), and Larrie Londin were brought in to replace Glaub and Smith. Londin didn't want to tour, so they got Mike Baird. It's very likely that the Frontiers line-up recorded "Let It Rock You" for Freedom (which became Raised on Radio), but could've featured Bob Glaub on bass and Smith on Drums, while "With a Tear" is likely the Glaub/Smith period, or while the band was trying to recruit Jackson/Londin.

@@wheelinthesky4208 It isn't called "All For You," you dolt. I'm holding the second copy I own from the box set itself. It's track #6 and listed on page 2 which is on the inside cover, and the credits a notes are on page 39, with Robert Fleishman, Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie having writing credits. The entry states: "This rare recording was drawn from song demos prepared for the "Infinity" album during the brief tenure of Robert Fleischman as vocalist, showing his Plantish vocal style band the band's emerging rock sound. Even without Perry, the band had already turned a corner. Perry proved to be the match that ignited the blaze. Rolie remembered the number going over well with audience during the short time Fleischman toured with the band. This particular song, in fact, Perry chose to sing during his secret audition as a sound check in Fleischman's absence and sealed Fleischman's fate. Within days, he was gone. The number, however, was never recorded by Journey with Perry." The pics above the entry are of (from left to right) Ross Valory, Jonathan Cain, Neal Schon, Steve Perry and Steve Smith. If I could post a pic of it, I would. I bought my first of three copies in 1995 on CD. I later bought it on cassette, then bought the remastered CD version, which is the one I'm holding right now! I've been a Journey fan going back to 1984 when I was 7. I have owned every album in multiple releases on CD and cassette. You're clearly a casual "fan" or just incapable of doing research. Even a quick Wikipedia search would've yielded these results, and you plainly couldn't have even done that much.

I'm talking about the name of the song on a CD called "Distant Eyes". You are referring to Time 3 which isn't the same album. I didn't design the cover or list the songs on the CD called "Distant Eyes" and I'm upset that it upsets you.

@@wheelinthesky4208 I know you're talking about the bootleg. I watched your video. My original comment was about the mistake you made or refused to clarify. My rant was in regards to your comment about the title of "For You" (the actual song), as if I didn't know what I was talking about. Clearly I do, and I don't care if you're upset. Had you done even an ounce of research into the topic, you would've know everything I posted, instead you posted a bunch of misinformation, tried passing it off as fact, and when called out, were dismissive while posting more incorrect information, as if you were right all along. Instead verifying the information I presented and making corrections as needed, you assumed I was in the wrong because you didn't want to admit you were, then you smacked down for it.

I'm not worried about who knows what. This RU-vid channel is about Journey. This channel is supposed to be fun whether anyone knows who Steve Perry is or not. That doesn't matter. We're celebrating the beautiful music Journey and it's many members have brought us over the years. Some people haven't heard these rare demo's before and just want to hear them. This channel is for hard core fans as well as the casual Journey listener and anyone in between.

Any idea what year For You was made? It has always sounded to me like it would be a real early Steve Perry era Journey song or maybe even a song Steve Perry had made before he joined up with Journey. But I've never really had the information on it even though I've heard a lot of different stories through the years. You do have the 3 CD Journey demos/tracks that go back as far as at least the mid-1970s, or maybe even back as far as 1973 but I can't remember right now, don't you Ron? All three CDs are spectacular sounding and some of what is on one of the CDs does include the old KBFH 1978 Journey and Friends show that aired. But the cool thing about it is there's no sound of the music starting before the tracks actually begin like 99% of those CDs or recordings from that KBFH show have. I think it comes from the master personally but I don't know that for sure. Brian in Fort Worth 🎶

It says on the CD that it's from 1985 but many people have said it sounds like 1979. I hear it both ways, so it's tough to say.

@@RonSouth I definitely can hear that 1985 era sound with the song With A Tear and it has a lot more of the ROR style in that song. For You sounds earlier but we've only had that one recording of it that I know of through the years. It does kind of sound like it could have been done in the same time frame as Something to Hide doesn't it. Thanks Ron.

"For You" is NOT "Let It Rock You"! Completely different lyrics and not even the same tune.

"All For You" is the song they left for Robert Fleischman. "Let It Rock You" is called "For You" on the CD titled "Distant Eyes". They clearly sing "For You" in "Let It Rock You", but I don't remember why I renamed it.

I just checked the lyrics of _Let It Rock You_ @@wheelinthesky4208, and while I hear "rock you", "roll you", and "show you" on every chorus, I don't think "for you" appears in the song: wouldn't you be confused with another song?
