And that is why Steve Perry will go down as one of the greatest Rock frontmen in History. Silky smooth voice, impressive vocal range, amazing stage presence and the HAIR ! Oooooh, you gotta' love that hair. Lol.
Journey without Steve Perry is just a band. He had one of the best effortless vocal ranges I have ever heard! One of the best rock vocalists of ALL time!
Some of the members of the group think that it was unfair that Arno was not indicted in the Hall... Steve sang on the songs originally he is the one on the records..... Steve is the voice.. Listened to these guys since 77 at 6 years old... My sister was older and that was how I heard them..... Steve is and will forever be the voice.....
Seen this tour in Salt Lake City Utah at the salt Palace. He stood there tears rolling down his face. I looked over at my wife and said, he’s lost sherry, he’s lost his mother he’s done. A month or so later I heard he walked of the tour. Unbelievable concert. There will never be another band like journey. Deafly will never ever have another Steve Perry.
I was there for this. The video was filmed at Mountain Aire, Calaveras County Fairgrounds, Angels Camp, CA. The final Mountain Aire of the Rock'n Chair Productions (I think Billl Graham had bought them at this time) era brought back Journey, The Outfield, Andy Taylor(of Duran Duran) and Honeymoon Suite. For the first time ever Mountain Aire would be at night for this show. The opening shots were taken on HWY 49. My wife and I saw the helicopter flying around and we knew something was up.(filming) This same venue hosted Journey in 1981 for the debut of the Escape album. Contrary to popular belief, the Escape tour started in Angles Camp (not Japan) We were the FIRST ones to hear the album, as it was not released at that time.
Growing up in the '80s, riding my bike up and down the hills, singing as loud as I wanted... reading and creating an internal world... the last generation to remember a time before the internet. I think that gives us a special position to teach others
I remember my babysitter picking me up everyday in her 1980 Corvette and always had this song blasted and singing, cigarette hanging from her left hand and drinking a TAB in a can. No I couldn't have a drink, no I couldnt touch the radio.
i was born in 1978 and luckily i had friends who had older siblings who inoculated us with this music day and night. awesome music. the 80s were simply the best! 😎
This is absolutley awesome. Stunning live performance. Journey is a legend. Steve Perry is a legend. They should have been induced in R&R Hall of fame many many years ago.
