For a man who is so intelligent, very articulate and so passionate about his craft, it is so cute to see how he tries to keep that in the midst of being hammered. He's slurring his words, smacking his lips and at one point wondering if he can still feel his face. It's so hilarious. Today I don't think Neal drinks, Jon I'm guessing doesn't, so that leaves Steve. I've seen pictures of him holding drinks, so that might indicate he still does. Having said that, I'm sure if they were to get it together in a friendship level, I bet there would still be laughs like this. They were great together because if the art and love for each other. I love watching these old videos sometimes. For me, it looked/sounded like they were drinking a little bit before these interviews in Japan. And why not?
S hon and Cain contradict themselves in this interview from the later “Behind the Music” interview where they say Steve wanted to fire Smith and Valory because the band didn’t need them and the three of them would make more money without them.
Steve apologized and they understood his mistake. Thus, we had TBF. Let by-gones be by-gones. Steve and Ross did. Geesh, Steve wrote an apology song..ANYWAY on his FTLOSM album. I believe that was what helped them come back to do TBF. Steve Smith is reportedly not in the band because he felt "without Steve Perry, What was the point?" ...As Many of us feel today.
I already knew he had apologized and understood his mistake. I am glad though that Steve Smith left when Perry left because of what you said. It was nice to know it just wasn't the fans that felt that way.
I think Jon's the one who actually made total sense out of anything when he spoke. x] The other two kinda threw me off when they got into their sake-influenced zen zone, talking about video fantasies and the sublime mystery of radio.... very profound, Neal and Steve...
Ok, I disagree TOTALLY here. I don't think they were drunk or smashed or slurring here like you all are stating. They seemed pretty on point for having a few drinks.
@Perryistheone Hell I have a guy friend who used to watch videos from the Escape tour ( back in 82 ) and fantisize about getting Steve Perry plastered. He would say a gay mans fantasy was Steve Perry drunk in your bed at night and unable to identify you in the morning.
@NoJboysAPN0Journey Well I wouldn't go that far but gay guys do love Perry. There have been many rumours over the years that he is in the closet. But I think some of that stemmed from the wierd fanfiction/slash out there that had Steve and Neal sleeping together.
