Can't deny that SP was Journey's voice for over a decade, but AP is the one making the band and it's legacy alive and kicking. AP is journey's life. SP and AP are equally great singers.

Journey is the greatest band of all time. Love them so much. And yes Arnel is not Steve Perry but he’s the closest anyone has ever come to replicating Steve’s irreplaceable iconic voice. Not a exact copy but still extremely good and unique in his own way. Better than Steve Augeri at least.
Wether its steve perry or Lou gramm or jon bon jovi. The one thing they have in common is that they wont be able to sing perfectly their old songs. Growing old comes with maturing voice too. They cant belch or scream like what arnel is doing now in the songs original high pitch sound while constantly touring every month. Steve Perry has new song but it doesnt resemble the same high pitch notes he used to sing with journey's dont stop believin. His new songs are geared to lower pitches like foolish heart song.
Yesterday it was Steve's time and 2020 is Arnel's! Just like that stop comparing them. Journey kept it's path all the way up till today and it's God's will. Let's be thankful we are still hearing their signature songs. The members are still alive and well!

Steve Perry were the good old days. The new guy is keep it going and when you got one of the best drummers in the world back in the band, what can you say; Goodby Steve! This is about as good as it would ever get for any band wanting to keep it going. I spent 2 weeks in PI when I was in the Navy and I couldn't believe how good those guys were as musicians. I walked into a club playing Van Halen and I thought it was the jukebox until I walked into the stage area and saw the house band, unbelievable! They've always had bad ass musicians! Kudos to Journey for staying true to the quality and not having to give in to SP's bullshit!

Let me remind you that he's 40 when all of that happened, meaning it's not his prime anymore. Now he's in his 50's. From all the gigs they had do you expect him to sound the same?? Even perry's voice went at that stage, the difference is the obvious change happened during his prime. The only constant thing in this world is change and if people can't or deny to accept that, then the word MORON suits them very well.
Yes he's no Perry because he's Pineda. Perry was one of a kind during his Journey days and I'm also a fan. He also helped in composing some of THEIR songs. It's a band, not a solo artist. They know the inevitable would come. They needed a new vocalist and of course if they'll gonna have people for audition, might as well use their songs right??? When Arnel came they tested him to the point he can't sing anymore and they were amazed how strong his wind pipes are. Not the same as Perry but the legacy sound is there. With power and emotion. During their gigs people wanted to hear their classic songs that's why they're singing them, it's not only Arnel's choice and have you heard of their songs After all these years, Tantra, City of hope? That's also the band's material with AP singing and he as well helped in writing them.

Dude Steve Perry will always be the lead singer for Journey, everyone believes he's just on a long vacation and this guy is just filling in for him.. I am old enough to remember the original Journey and Steve wasn't the lead singer back then but he made them what they are today. The 2nd song of this video is proof that some day some how, he will return with that magnificent voice!!! Until then, " Don't Stop Believin'"!!
Pamela & Mark, agree 100%, I was around from the beginning as well, you are right Steve Perry IS JOURNEY!! If it wasnt for SP there would be no Journey for Arnel to imitate! So there Arnel Fans, STEVE PERRY is the KING of Journey, if it wasnt for the deep greedy pickets of Schon & Cain & lets not forget Valory who desperately needed the $$, Journey would have made the true comeback it deserved when Steve in his own heart and head knew it was time for his hip replacement and NOT the bands. I had the same surgery, it took me 12 years before I finally did so I know how SP felt! You can tell Arnel’s voice has regressed over the years (and that’s normal by the way), but he must be doing something right for Journey to have stuck with him in spite of that. Amazing!

Hey Mike, I saw these guys two years ago at AT&T Park in San Francisco. They have always sounded great even without Steve Perry, I thought Journey was over when the White house visit became a discord among the band members. But music prevailed over dumb politics. Arnel no longer wants mimic Steve Perry as before but his voice sounds a strained by the endless touring!
last time i saw was when they toured with def leppard in 2006 but it was with steve augery, who did a great job and yeah, arnel is very strained but doing great and his humble rise has endeared him to a whole new set of journey fans.
Everyone has to grow old one day. Amazing they still attract huge crowd. Nothing to be ashamed of looking and sounding tired. This band is a hard act. They need to take long rest. Even the band sounds a little different. I think it's to do with instruments.
Someone is working AP ass so much. The man needs breaks in between so much concert tours. Infact Journey never had this much concert tours with Steve P. However I also give my heart to Steve after all he is Steve P and Arnel P huet merely stepped up but u wanna see both on the stage someday
