Our generation had the best music ever!!

I was EXTREMELY fortunate enough to be at this very concert. Little did I know, when they said they were recording the concert that I would be watching/listening 39 years later on a phone, and that the rest of the world could also do the same!

There's a reason you didn't ever see any live (or studio for that matter) vocal performances like the one in Houston by Mr. Perry. They were simply unattainable. His vocal level at the end of this song is indescribable. His passion undeniable. The entire band at their height. I was gifted an opportunity to see them live twice in the early 80's. Once indoors and once outdoors. Zero difference in the sound quality of the performances. I still drive right past that rural outdoor venue every day on my way to work. There have been countless occasions when I swear I can still hear Steve's stratospheric vocals ringing through the hills taking me back to a time and place that I am eternally grateful to have experienced. So thankful to have grown up listening to the music of the 70's and early 80's. Too many great bands to list but Journey will always be my pick for the best in terms of overall musicianship across the board led by a generational singer named Steve Perry. Thank you for the memories men! All respect......

Steve P is one of the only singers who sounds in concert/in person exactly like he does on the album. The world lost an enormous gift when he stopped performing.

I always thought this song was criminally underrated for its tone, power and content. The fact he recorded it in the studio singing in one take is a testament to his next world ability but doesn't surprise me at all as he never seems to make an off key note live.

If you don’t get chills from this song you’re probably dead.

I was there!! No distracting videos in the background, no million dollar light show in a sphere, no cell phones! Just pure talent & magic! I was in 10th grade and I was over the moon to be able to be there with my older brothers and sister. This is incredible to be able to step back in time and see it all over again. Back in the day, Steve Perry was considered a rare tenor altino, a rare form of countertenor. He was nicknamed "The Voice" by his long-time friend Jon Bon Jovi. Steve's voice is easily recognized and his rare voice can't be touched. Certainly not when he was in his prime. I love all of his music, including his new music, but I especially loved his vocal range during the time he was Journey's frontman and the solo albums he made shortly after.

NO ONE CAN BEAT THAT VOCAL! Journey IS.... Steve Perry!!! He had his own class and his own style, which cannot be replicated.

Man, the amazing level of physical and vocal fitness he displays in this video... just...yeah. He is almost totally pitch perfect even though he's singing at top volume, performing, sweating, probably getting tired....and it's just perfect pitch. Not sharp, not flat, not altered from the album in almost any way until the last.

This is the best song ever performed by Steve. His vocals were at a supreme high and unmatched by anyone even to this day.. Steve said in an article this song was difficult to perform, because of it's complexity and hitting the correct vocal range. He said by the time he finished the song he was totally whipped out. I was in my teens/20s in the 80s but have only recently become a Journey fan. Back then I was serving with the army in Europe and I never heard a thing about Journey. I don’t think they were even big back in the U.K. where I am from. I might be nearly 60 now but I am so glad that I found them, and especially Steve Perry, via Netflix’s The Greatest Night in Pop documentary. Imagine having to go through life and never knowing that Steve Perry existed! So yeah, I am very late to the Journey party, but thank goodness I eventually arrived.

I love so many Journey songs and although i love Faithfully & Open Arms- Mother - Father is TOPS for me. Steve takes this to another planet and me along with it. Steve has so much emotion in all his songs but this one really gets me. It's something personal it gives me goosebumps, chills and pulls at my heart strings. When Steve was made the mold was broken, no other voice like it. The guitar & piano solos are excellent on this. Kudos to the whole band.
