Agreed. It’s funny to think that Arnel has now been their lead singer longer than Steve Perry. Those days with Steve were pretty amazing though; the soundtrack of my youth. So many good memories associated with those songs.

The statement you posted here is proof that you know, and appreciate, music. There was the 70s then 80s, and a small portion of the 90s with Prince, then things were on the decline. There is an entire generation who know nothing about real music, real instruments, real musicians or stage presentation. Journey was great. Thank you. By the way, Where is Steve Perry?

All of these songs are 30 - 40 + years old, yet they sound as fresh & in some ways even more relatable today, than they were when released. The 80's were an amazing period to be young. Thank you to the Band, especially Arnel, for keeping Journey and the music, the soundtrack & fabric of our youth, alive. 🎶 ❤️

I remember hearing this for the first time during VISION QUEST. That movie turned me on to Journey, and the trip will never end. By the way. I am 76. My youngest son, during High School, was a Wrestler. Pretty good one too! Vision Quest was almost a DEMAND at the time. Enthusiasm, and Desire for a 16 year old just grew. Thanks to Steve, and now Arnel. A masterful voice and sound.

Saw them at 16 in 1982 with Steve Perry and they were great. Saw them 5 years ago with Arnel and they were awesome!! Seeing them in November at the O2 in London. For over 15 years Arnel has fronted the band and delivered night after night. Arnel was lucky to be found by Journey. More importantly Journey and all of us were lucky to find Arnel.

They're not lowering the key. Arnel just has a wider and deeper natural timber. If you listen close, Steve is still the GOAT, but he had a slightly nasal thin tone. Just a slight touch feminine if you will, Arel sings the same notes, but somewhat more in his chest voice. But if you listen to 2022 or 2023, Arnel has his full range back and is sounding better than ever. Whatever the problem was, they fixed it.

How come he's not playing the fill starting at 1:23? You can hear the track slide up and down but his hand stays on the G. Good lord same at 2:58 when his hand is in the air. And 3:29. That's very sad.

That is because they had to lower the keys of the songs. So of course he sounds better because if he tried to sing in the original range he would sound awful. But good job Arnel.

To much damn soap opera drama going on in this band now, people being fired, people being sued. I've seen them four times during the Perry era only and they were awesome. Times change though and so do people over the years, it's sad to see what has happened to this band over the years. I remember when they were on top of the world in the 80's.

Steve Perry is a one of a kind artist to be certain. The vocal pitch, inflections, and respiratory demands of such Journey classics normally keep a short shelf-life on the artists performing them. Even more astounding is the fact Arnel has performed similarly, at such a high level for such a long time its almost incomprehensible for lightning to strike twice with such talent.

I am a metal fan and harshly critical of softer bands...except for this song hits me in the feels every time. The words and cadence of how they are delivered in the tone is dream like and makes me remember the Wonderful 80's. Saw them in Orlando a couple of weeks ago and the and Parnel killed it.

Remember post covid they postponed a handful of shows because someone had covid? I suspect it may have been Arnel since there was a marked change in his vocals between 21 and 22 going forward. He seems to struggle for breath in ways he never used to. That and the number of tours they've done can be quite taxing if the lungs haven't had an opportunity to heal. There are times he sounds fantastic, and times he's struggling. As much as I absolutely love him, if you don't see that, you're in denial.

Steve Perry is the Jimi Hendrix of rock and roll vocalizationo one comes close to him, not even close. He was the greatest singer in pop rock and the greatest singer and journey's entire history period not even close, not even close. Steve Perry IS not was.The man is Steve Perry, the greatest vocalist in rock and roll history. In that category, the new guy is good.
