Great reaction! I think the animation looks the way it does because all the characters were rotoscoped. Don Bluth used that for his last couple of films for the teams of animators he was working with. Rotoscoping has the great ability to be a guide for artists, to get natural human movement. But the drawback is that sometimes, characters are a bit too sporadic. Sometimes, they never really stop moving. I really like Don Bluth's work, his earlier stuff after he left Disney is lauded as some of the best in Western Animation. His early work startled Disney enough to care about their animated films again, hence we get the Renaissance of Disney. Bluth unfortunately fell by the wayside in the 90s (he did make Rock-a-Doodle after all). His final film was released in either late 99 or early 2000. There is a stage adaptation of this movie, where the villain is a Soviet Officer instead of Rasputin.

Eventually there will be a time where the likelihood of Don Bluth getting a three freckle score or higher seems probable, but for now he's taking L's 😂 Great perspective on the rotoscoping.
