Billy Griffin yep I wonder if people in Tokyo understand what he’s singing Maby Maby not since Tokyo is different from America but you don’t listen with your ears you listen with your heart beacuse this is so moving
I Was 12 Years Old When This Song Came Out & Being A Black Kid From The Hood In Chicago I Was Teased So Much 4 Jammin' This Song Along With Music From TOTO, STEELY DAN, BOSTON, CHICAGO & Other Classic Bands! Thanks 2 My Dearly Departed Uncle Who Was A DJ 4 Introducing Me 2 Outstanding Bands Like JOURNEY & The Others That I Spoke Of Whom 2 This Very Day I Listen 2 Their Music Proudly!!!
I almost feel a sense of morning. We will never have the incredible, exceptional, moving, genius music of the 70's and 80's ever again. It was such a gift that can carry on and on through the people who love it.
Deluxe reissues, remasters, Box Sets, DVDs, and (continuing) tours have continued to keep the music of the 1970s and 1980s very much STILL and FOREVER alive and relevant. You'll definitely hear Journey in the upcoming futuristic '80s nostalgia blockbuster, Ready Player One in Spring 2018. Tamya, for instance (and inspiration), look up Frontiers Records here on RU-vid...this sound is VERY MUCH still alive in the form of classic and brand new bands who are harbored, sheltered, and nurtured, bringing out quality records, albums, and compilations well in to the 21st Century. And they are just one on the list of successful labels that support this kind of quality music and musicianship. Don't mourn it (though, I TOTALLY get what you're saying/feeling)...celebrate it, pass it on, and regale in the new classics that are being composed, created, and released as we speak. It's not over...
2021, STILL LISTENING ALWAYS REMEMBER THE JOURNEY CONCERTS OF THE 80'S IN CLEVELAND OHIO THE BEST YEARS OF MY LIFE, LOVE YOU STEVE PERRY!!!!!!! ALWAYS, LOVED JOURNEY FOREVER MY FAVORITE BAND. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I have to respectfully disagree, it had nothing to do with Neal, it was Steve Perry's lips , hair, and tight jeans that made the magic. Oh , and let's not forget THE VOICE.😊😊😊😊
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me
@Sylas Aaron i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@@bob._.muffuginross8649 Don't worry, it wouldn't have been too long... OR too boring, lol. 😉😘😍 Comments are ONLY too long (IMHO) IF the individual posting them DOESN'T have anything worthwhile or interesting to express. 🤔🤔🤔
Love Journey. One of the best bands ever. Steve's voice is perfect all the time. Neal's such a melodic guitar player. He crafts his solos beautifully. Like a voice.
Brian McBride I couldn't agree more, my favorite band of all time! Steve my all time fave vocalist ever . . . . . . . . . . . . . No-one even comes close to his beautiful talent! We your fans love you Steve, hope you know that and feel the LOVE sent your way!!!
SNAKE PLISSKEN I agree with you 100% on that one my brother!! I'm a metal head trough n trough, but I've always been a "Journey head" since I was a kid! Neil's solo on this song, is only second to my all-time favorite Neal solo, and what Neil himself said was his "Masterpiece" is "Stone in love" in fact, that outro is one of my all-time favorite guitar solo's from anyone!! EPIC INDEED!!!!!! \../
Aron, if you think this is an epic Schon solo, you need to go get Journey's first 3 albums and listen to true mastery. While still technically first rate here, you will be mesmerized at what he used to do, when allowed to stretch and created masterpiece after masterpiece. Start with Of a Lifetime, add some Kohoutek, sprinkle in Look Into the Future, and then go explore the plethora of magnificence. Enjoy
Todd Stevens Thanks! I totally agree with you my brother, Neil is one of the most amazing guitar players of all time!! Guys like him and Dimebag, you can tell they totally feel what they're playing!!! Love this guy!!! There's a video with Neil saying the solo on "stone in love" is his masterpiece!! \../ 👊👊
I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s rock anthems would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor, WHO'S CRYING NOW by Journey, and IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake on my YT channel in tribute to the era of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks & keep on rocking.
Happy 67th Birthday,Steve !! You are truly the one and only forever lead vocalist of Journey!! You gave your fans so many beautiful and wonderful memories throughout the years with your voice and songs. And your singing was and still is part of our lives today. We really do miss you Steve Perry.I am only just one of your loyal fans for Forever!! All Steve Perry Fans out there, would you please speak up?And wish Steve a very nice Happy Birthday? Thank You Everyone.................This one is for you Steve !!!
Journey will forever be the Band to measure by! I’m a Black male and I’ve scrutinized bands for most of my 61 years and without Question, Journey will Forever be The Best! Each members talent is Exquisitely Unique!
Remember well when a friend and I went and saw them in concert during this tour and Schon would play this solo on the half-horseshoe stage they had at the time. Great concert and memory.
AndyFaeBaker0890 my son is 27 & prefers my music than the music these days. I love Duran Duran, as well, as Journey. He does, too. He won’t admit it though. 😉
Neal Goddamn Schon, ladies and gents. This solo made me a lead guitar player at 13, Escape made me love music at 8, I owe so much to performances like this. Neal's melodies and ability to SING with a guitar is second to none.
journey one of the best band ever (: there songs are timeless (: when you listen too any journey song your instantly transported some where (: and this one is no exception (: too many memories of this group and their music (: they become a very special part of our soul (: the soul of humanity and its ability too love or too learn how too love through their songs (: Steve Perry Best Vocalist of all time period (: He can make the coldest of hearts and souls fall in love (: and pur you in place you can't even imagine (: I can't even begin too tell you the importance of journeys music was on my life and many many many others (: Journey one of the best bands ever ever ever!!!!! (:
Loved this band since high school...brings back so many awesome memories growing up. Steve Perry IS THE VOICE OF JOURNEY. His voice was, is, and ALWAYS WILL BE JOURNEY. The 80's was an Amazing time for Awesome music.
Fuck most of the new artist. They're studio artists who only made it off of a shitty personality and scandals like Kim Kardashian. True talent is measured by the good raw emotion you should be able to entice with your music. Back then you got lost in the music. Today you Bob your head and it's over and you're on to the next song...and you forget all about that song. Sad
Sandra Noneofyourbusiness they’ll be lazy and messing up/ no effort unlike him and other 80’s band they put a lot of time talent effort as well as thier heart and soul into thier work
Right where they sit now lol making money but their music doesn’t last. We all know they can’t sing for shit 😂. Only the greats can make timeless music 🙏🏼
I own this whole concert on the Escape DVD and its never far from my player !! This live performance is a prime example of a band in the 80's at the very top of their game. it is total perfection! Todays rubbish that passes for music and musicians can only dream of pulling off a show like this! Journey were incredible live!
Heard this song for the first time back in 84 on the 'American Heartbeat' compilation and was hooked. Bought all Journey LPs within a year and more than 30 years later they're still the top of my playlist. Steve, this was brilliantly sung, Godlike control and Neal, yes that solo was top drawer. Journey forever! (London Journey fan).
There will never, ever be a voice as fantastic, classic and unique as Steve Perry...HANDS DOWN! Do you hear the notes he can hit and the extensions he can do on a line?? NO ONE EVER WILL AND CAN COMPETE.......against the Phenomenon named STEVE PERRY!!!
this was the band I was listenning to in 1993, during my year in América..Still listening and back to France since ..À shame Steve Perry is not part of it anymore .Fantastic voice. .and great souvenir ..
No I think you are listening to someone who doesn't have his own way but imitates' s the most Legendary Guitarist is the Carlos Santana Oh yes I know he played with him in his youth, but he just couldn't find his own place. His way of playing and mannerism is purely the one and only Carlo's Santana's way. He sure isn't bringing in the crowd's now that Steve is gone. Oh one more thing I am very good friends of Carlos's and didn't like Neal when I met him. Carlos was very nice to keep him away from me
menengwaa I agree Carlos Santana is Legendary, I wasn't trying to compare Neal Schon to anyone or say that he is better than anyone. He wouldn't be much without Steve Perry and the rest of Journey, I think they are legendary as a group because even after all these years later I am still going back to listen to them over current music
Carlos was a good friend of my brother's and I was able to go to many of their concert's,or just hang out with them, along with Jackson Browne, Pointer Sisters Journey and had the privilege of meeting Steve Perry many time's. Living in the Bay Area and living so close to The University Of Berkeley was how I was able to see so many bands. as they were called back in the 70's and 80's I was twelve years old but it was easy to sneak out of my house. I am a die hard Journey fan and being able to meet Steve Perry their is no one who will ever compare to him. He is one hell of a nice man.
menengwaa Uh.. Carlos Santana has said in just about every interview he has done that mentioned Neal Schon, that Neal is one of the best guitarists he ever heard in his life. Neal was playing with Carlos at 14 years old and he sounds nothing like Santana - NOTHING. You think the "awesome" Carlos Santana kept a 14 year old guitar player around because he sucked or sounded like a clone??
Steve is definitely one of the greatest vocalist of all time. His vocal range is amazing, where other vocalists have to use their falsetto to reach the high notes, Steve does it easily without falsetto. Jon Bon Jovi called him 'The Voice' and rightly so, his vocals are fucking amazing, and he still has the range many vocalists would give their soul to have. Loved him since I was 16, way back in the 70's, and still do.
I ❤️ this song. Everyday I will listen to this song. There's something about this song that makes you wanna keep playing it. I ❤ Steve Perry. He's amazing and his voice is amazingly perfect.
Eventually age and wear took its toll even on Perry but here you see a great young singer who had the discipline to stay away from drink and smoke in excess because he knew thousands of fans expected him sound like (or even better) than the record.
Thank you for saying that !!!!!!! I don't know HOW MANY times people still ask him. He was a fucking HUMAN BEING. When he stoped he did so to save his Life.!!!!!!!! And thank you STEVE !!!😁
actually thats not entirely true. Towards the last few years he was doing drugs and drinking due to the stress and it did end up taking a toll on him and his chords. He even admits on in a interview called it partying behaviors i believe. He was just overwhelmed and used these things to cope . Doesnt make him a bad man for it , it does make him human. I am glad to see him healthy and happy now. He deserves it.
@@sherryscoloringandpaintingcorn yes I have heard that too. I will amend my initial comment and say during these years, he was very disciplined in the care of his voice. Later, he really did party in excess even If had to sing next day. I read comments on ROR tour recordings and the majority are all about how great Perry sounds. And I want to comment "are you guys deaf? He sounds terrible (for Steve Perry)." I know Schon wasn't the best influence either.
@@dannymartinez9371 Yeah Neal was pretty notorious back then for his drug use. Not so much alcohol but he definitely used a lot of coke. The difference between Perry and Schon is Neal could control his use and never let it affect his performance. Perry went overboard and it cost him dearly.
@@sherryscoloringandpaintingcorn good words there. Compassionate. I feel same way. It's like having close friends who use. It's a vice. But people under that are still good people sometimes. Ego-now that is a different ballgame! Cheers & nice post
STEVE PERRY AND JOURNEY MADE THE EIGHTIES THE MOST MEMORABLE TIMES IN MY LIFE. THE MOST WONDERFUL SINGER IN THIS GENRE OF MUSIC TO ME. A MASTER OF EXPRESSION, BOTH THROUGH HIS VOICE AND BODY. CHILL BUMPS AND MEMORIES. ISN'T IT A SHAME THAT GREAT THINGS AND GROUPS LIKE JOURNEY HAVE SOME KIND OF PERSONAL PROBLEMS WHEN THEY WERE SO WONDERFUL TOGETHER? THEN THEY BREAK UP. BITTERSWEET.
Soy chilena desde la decada ..d. los 80 .Escucho sus canciones Steve perry ..Es y sera..el.mejor vocalista que ha tenido el grupo yorney... Amo su interpretation y su vozarron ..GRANDE STEVE PERRY!!!
Written by Jonathan Cain and Steve Perry. From Escape Album released in 1981. It reached #4 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Hit it, Steve! Neil Schon , You're the Best! ♫♪ ♪♫♥
Phenomenal.. Steve Perry's Amazing Vocals and Neal Schon's Unbelievable Solo. There is Such an Amazing Feel to Neal Schon's guitar solos, they are Perfect..This is When Music Had soul and actually meant something !
Steve Perry most certainly can still sing! He did not leave Journey. He needed hip surgery after an injury and the group chose to "replace" him ( something that cannot be done) and go on tour without him to promote their newest album at that time. So, yes, they put him out. Arnel is a very good singer, lots of people are, he's no Perry.
sgalways. I agree. What they did to him was messed up. He can't be replaced period. It's insulting for them to think they can. All they are now is their own cover band.
Forty years later and this song is still classic perfection...no one can touch Steve Perry's vocals...live or recorded. This album was some of Journey's best work.
Class. Just class. Great song. Great instrumentals. Fabulously understated singing - you know he can do so much more but is holding back, making you want more. And all live. God I wish I had a time machine. I would go back and live in the 80s forever. The Eagles are probably one of the few that could ever come close to this quality live.
I forgot to say I love how Perry goes over close to the guitarist doing backing vocals to make sure they get the harmonies right. It's all about the quality of the sound and not about histrionics and twerking or whatever. See the sweat literally pouring off the keyboard player at 2:04. OMG I wish young people today would realise how things used to be. We are still human, why can we not produce stuff like this any more?
What an absolutely outstanding performance!! Steve Perry's Vocals are truly Supurb, especially the way he ends some verses with a most enticing wavy-vibrato sound. He does this several times on certain verses. It shows his rare talent and intense passion for Singing. I love it!! Thank you so very much, Mr. Perry, for sharing this First-Rate rendition, of this Beautiful Song, which is one of my Top Favorites. Neal Schon's amazing Guitar Riff, and the other Journey members, surely add to Steve Perry’s "Soaring Vocals." Thanks again!! 🥰🎙🎶❤️🙋♀️
Journey was one of the best groups back in the day. Steve Perry has a very distinctive voice and you could pick him out of a crowd without even seeing who was in it. I am sure that I am much older than you are so I do remember quite a few bands from back in the 70's. When you have some free time check out some Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, and Led Zeppelin, just to name a few. I am sure you will find many songs that you will like. Good luck and enjoy!
One of my favorites. I'm glad Neal Schon kept the solo sounding pretty dang close to the album version. I really don't like it when the live set is dramatically different from the album. Steve sounds incredible live btw too.
Steve Perry ist der Beste für immer. Für seine ganzen Nachfolger bei Journey wird er nie erreichbar sein. Er hat mit seiner Stimme Journey zu dem gemacht, was sie heute sind. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Steve Perry known round the world as "THE VOICE".I have NEVER HEARD ANYONE COME CLOSE TO STEVE.... BTW....ITS TIME TO VOTE FOR KENNEDY CENTER HONORS!PLEASE GO VOTE AND PUT STEVE PERRY IN THE CLASS OF 2018 !
sometimes a song comes around that just takes you there in terms of its meaning and music.. I will always love this song sung by these men.. Espically love the solo, aww man he kills it.. sometimes when i am stoned i have this turned up on my system and just ...............peace
Kudos to to Neal for really tricking out the end of the solo there. He went off script just a bit and then that inspired Ross to throw in a melodic bass lick as well. Perry fabulous here. Steve Smith such a solid creative drummer.
