The riff he does at 2:44 gives me life. Mr. Perry has a voice of gold and will always be the heart and soul of this legendary band. With gorgeous melodies, universal lyrics and superb musicianship, the music of Journey will never grow old.
@@madelinebeatlesgirl I read that Sam Cooke was a strong influence on Steve Perry. Listen to "You Send Me" by Cooke and you will hear similar lovely riffs. Mr. Perry definitely added his own style to everything he sang with Journey and solo. 🎶
Great solo at the end and Ross and Steve Smith are really laying down a groovy foundation for that solo. Man I wish I was there. 80’s are the greatest ever!
One of my favorite songs.I went through a very heart breaking separation.I couldn't believe my husband detested me so much.I prayed for an answer...leave.Married at 22 yrs old,3 children.Now in our 60s I left.We are friends I have peace and joy.
This is gonna sound funny but I think Arnel has a stronger technical delivery of this song but Steve delivers it with so much feel to it and I like that way more than anything!
What a great time to grow up. Loved the 80s. I would trade in all our technology of today just to go back to simply times. Big hair, great music, mtv (actually played music) and hanging out at the PenCan Mall in Cicero, NY. Now I have kids (23,13 & 10) and they listen and like the music I listened to when I was a teen. Kind of cool to pass it on.

I listened to Journey since 1978 when I saw Steve Perry on singing.I was amazed at his voice and I stayed with them till Steve left.I followed Steve Perry by him self.Then nothing!Come back Steve.We love you

Without Jon Cain Journey would not have made it into major leagues.Despite his voice,they were unable to play major stadiums or arenas until Escape.Speaking of IMMORTAL VOICES, "I Want To Know What Love Is" is straight from God with his choir,a genuine Gospel,only the one and only LOU GRAMM could do.Foreigner was always in major leagues and achieved international successes.Neal Schon mentioned last year,Journey never did well internationally.
Neil has an awesome collection of guitars, mostly les pauls, but he has a few of most other great classics as well, i love the cherry-sunburst custom les paul with the special order split-block fret markers and the white pickguard (usually they use black on the custom cherrysunburst) that is one of the nicest les paul customs i've ever seen and of course he has his signiture les paul w/ a whammy bar that was created w/ the gibson custom shop expert builders.. lucky guy- great player..
There is no one like Steve and no one like Arnel. However, Arnel today is now singing "Who's Crying Now? Why can't people learn to move on with life? Now and tomorrow is your reality and accept it today and live! God bless!
He is kind of beggin for a comparison when he tries to sing Steve Perry's song the exact same way Steve Perry did. He doesn't add his own style to it. When he does this he is kind of asking for people to compare him to Steve Perry and to say that he is just trying to mimic him. He and the band should have changed the song someway and allowed this new singer to add his own style to it. Until he shows his own style and stops trying to mimic Steve then there will always be a comparison made.

The special fake effort that he makes is irritating to sound like Steve is maddening! Try try as he might, he will never ever sound like Steve Perry! Never.
The guitar Neal Schon is playing is a Japanese Aria Pro, not sure about the exact model but that's it. Schon played them for a while back in the early 80s.

of course journey is nothing without steve. steve was the song writer and help mold this sound. thats why journey sounds like they do. It's a team effort though. no matter how you put it, arnel is steve's fill in.

I have been "blessed or cursed" with a fiery nature. I am not a person to think a lot before I answer or ask a lot of questions maybe I should but I don't! I have a sense of humor that sometimes catch people off guard completely or they get me. I really don't care what people think about me, its a damned if you do damned if you don't kind of thing. I love my family, my dogs and Steve Perry! Nothing or no one can take that away. Ever. Blame it on my European Roots.
Call it a crush, call it a fascination call it love, but as I have said before, Steve Perry's beautiful, enchanting, angelic voice has become such a wonderful part of my life. I feel blessed to have found him. And I am totally convinced that he is "an angel in disguise".
