I can, but I'm a woman. I have more power than he does, so it has to be attacked differently (you don't race an Escalade for handling, because that's not what they're for...) but I've done this on ONE breath, which I'm extremely proud of.
Yes this is a great song, and legally no one should be singing Steve Perry's songs as if they are him, imitating his 'likeness' it is stealing/plagarism/copycatting, copyright infringement, theft/thievery/stealing/ ripping off Steve Perry! Freedom of speech & press USA copyrighted
Whenever i watch the Grammy's I don't see the level of talent that Steve Perry had for singing and songwriting, his songs made sense and had meaning ! Journey with Steve Perry should have had so many Grammys for their Fabulous Songs! Unbelievable that they were never on the Grammy Stage when they were probably the Best Band of the Generation! God Bless Steve Perry!!
Amen to that, Dianne. The Grammy's is just so different these days, so boring and so unentertaining. I try to watch it every year for many past years now, and I just can't do it. I remember, and I know I sound like an old woman, watching the Grammy's when I was younger, and it was just so exciting to see who would sing and/or play live that night, and when the bands played, they were chock full of real musicians who could play instruments and really sing. There a few of those today whom I respect, but mostly the music just absolutely sucks, the music is a completely different style, and there's no where near as much talent on stage as there used to be. The Grammy's is more of just a stage show now.
So when a magazine reporter asked Freddie Mercury how it felt to have (I'm paraphrasing) the best voice in rock. Mercury replied "I don't know. Ask Steve Perry." (Mercury was amazing too, of course)
Yep! Freddie said more than once that he thought Steve was the best of the best...can you imagine that! Steve is my 80s guy, I fell head over heels the first time I heard him sing this song, about a year before, it's just hauntingly beautiful and the riffs...man! Neal was a natural, yes, but at 15 Carlos Santana took him in and taught him everything he knew, Neal and Gregg were a huge part of Santana before the broke off together to form Journey. These fuys in this band were the most amazingly talented musicians of our youth. Even more amazing, Steve said in Fan Asylum interview, that even though he couldn't read a sheet of music he could write it? His mom was right, this guy just oozed raw talent!! I really miss his singing...
I have never been disappointed by a Steve Perry proformance his voice is incredible. He was my first musical crush and no one has ever come close. I still have posters and articles from Tiger beat and the other magazines that would have him in the centerfolds no shirt and a jacket with tails. At one point I had every album that he made. I want the greatest hits vol 2. I have listened to his latest album and it is very good. I always kept Street Talk in my CD player. I have always wondered why he never married but hearing he found his love but that she had passed was sad.
I was 13 when the infinity album came out and stole it constantly from my sister 4 years older. It was such an inspiration to me as the introduction of SP captivating my young heart…. I will never forget that period of Journey that took hold over the years to come… I grew up in San Jose California and Journey was a staple in my life throughout HS!! Great memories!! Thank you Journey for the memories of my youth!!🎶🎶
I was at this show. Great concert. Winds of March is Journey’s Stairway to Heaven. The Capitol was one of the great concert halls. Perfect acoustics no matter where you sat.
Phil Hertz I had my own at home Journey concert last night and it was a blast! I'm so jealous that you saw them in 1978! What was your favorite song they sang?
Blown away...just incredible every single time I hear this song. I just hate that it’s over way too soon. Thank you God above for the repeat button. And I really mean that. I hear this song and as soon as it ends...I push the repeat button in my car over and over again. Lol!😂 absolutely true! Pure fire!💥🔥💥🔥
When I was about 16 or 17 my parents lived in an upscale neighborhood at the mouth of the canyon The wind would blow every morning and you could hear the wind rush through the trees. Lying in bed I could see my girlfriends house through the gates and trees. She would call me and tell me she was on her way over and I would watch her walk down to my house she was so beautiful her hair blowing in the wind. She came and crawled in bed With me. I just held her. I had the infinity album on this song was playing it was so romantic to this day that’s one of my very favorite verses in a song you held me as the wind rush through the trees. By the way Steve Perry sings it is so freaking awesome This song will always have a special meaning for me. I will never forget that as long as I live.
Can't believe it but this made me cry. JUST remembering what love felt like back then. New, fresh and electric. Miss my younger days and the people who are gone now. Thanks for your beautiful story 🍀
This is one of my favorite songs of all times. The song is so deep with meaning and filled his talent that you can't. But help but feel deep in your heart and soul.
@@matthewmccormick7564 you could dig up CSN and you'll hear 3 phenomenon all lead singers (neither Jon nor Schon is a solid lead singer, I've heard Jon live at a benefit for Our Lady of Angels fire memorial. He was there in 1958, but not where the fire was). Even if Still sings flat half the night, (saw this in Louisville, KY in 2010) it STILL sounds so INSANELY good, I swear you won't even care. Too bad you have to drive 5-6 hours to get front row for a reasonable 100 bucks (back then)
Cause no one is this naturally talented!! It's all auto tune, making anyone sound ok, the "artists" of today have NO CLUE what hard work & dedication is (touring like they had to do). This is when music was fantastic, diverse & it shined!!
@ Doug: Yeah those are the journey haters. And yeah there's people that have said that journey definitely took a different turn when Steve Perry entered for tbe entered for this album is 1st album. I could definitely see where they would say that compared to the old stuff the older stuff. But given that somehow one of the journey I've been called pop rock opera was the 1st big good commercial rock band I've heard that before too yeah for that before too obviously escape was a huge album for the frontier as apparently was maybe even bigger and somehow maybe they were been considered mall rock. You know if you take a band like blue oyster Colt which is one of the great American rock bands Yeah they had their own nitch. But even they dabbled in more melodic songs and I've got a lot of boys that are calhe's thought of the boy struck hold C d's and I've gotten into them later in life and always wanted to get into them so I'm not Is a long time fan of BOC. But there are songs where they're not the typical is a typical fusion rock can rock Jazzy type. So we've been abandoned like them as unique as they are have their melodic songs. If you listen to the 1st albums of journey yeah they were a rock fusion band they had their own you know they had their own style and apparently that was a big problem for them album forum and that's what prevented them from being a regional is a regional favorite to propelling them you're propelling them up the charts and becoming more nationally recognized or accepted and yet the addition of Steve Perry made something something of a big impact. I just don't see where this was a sin. Are they sell outs ? Well if a record label comes to you especially the way things were years ago with record companies intelligent mode and tells you while ED you start producing something that might be a little bit more popular otherwise we're gonna have to dump you what do you do hold out and train deeper I'm trying to be pure ? There aren't too many groups out there and musicians altogether who have ever really been able to stick with one type of music that may be wasn't as popular as they would have liked it to be and were they were pressed into or Is required to adjust themselves a little bit more? It's enough to be a musician nevertheless someone or is one or a group of guys who manages to even make it to the big time. I don't think Johnny were sell outs. It is pretty obvious listening to the earlier albums that there is a possibility that they could have become very irrelevant quickly 3 are all of them quickly if they did not make the changes they did
I believe the story is that the record company executive said if they didn't sell a million units of the next album they might/would be dropped from the label. So it sounds like they were facing a form of "adapt or die". The first Perry album may have had a gigantic tour to promote it; something like 172 cities and 250+ shows. They ended up with 2 million and change in album sales.
This is the ultimate song. So deep. I feel it in my heart every single time. My favorite song of all time! Love you Steve/Journey. Thank you for your awesome music.
I remember singing this over and over ..... thinking of my girlfriend in junior high. And I still think of her today when I hear this song each time....
Kaylin Patterson DAMN RIGHT. Steve and Gregg perfect combination the whole band is awesome I'd rather have them but I know time brings changes etc but STEVE PERRY THE VOICE WILL NEVER BE DUPLICATED.
Well it's March 23rd 2024 in this song came to my mind this morning so I looked it up and listen to it again after all of these years I believe the last time I heard it was 1983 great band and great song❤❤❤
just LOVE this band SO much! I used to play their records every night to get to sleep- life was a really complicated thing growing up and Journey was a safety net for me.. I felt safe listening to them and could fall asleep.. I love them so much!
Me to & 44 years later, I listen to them EVERY morning, gets my day started off right!! My favorite group of all time, their talent is still so impressive & never gets old!!
2:35 to 3:00 he stretches out 'eeeeeeyyyyyyyyeeeeessss', takes a breath, goes a little higher, another breath, a teeny little bit higher(?), a breath, stretches it out. For us mortals, it's hard to see how he does it.
STEPHAN RAY PERRY THE VOICE... THE LEGEND... G.O.A.T. AND YES THIS BEAUTIFUL BLACK QUEEN SAID IT. PERFECTION SIGNED SEALED DELIVERED ON A PLATINUM PLATTER... NOW ENJOY THE MASTER AT WORK
Saw this tour at shea's theater in Buffalo ..they played almost all of Infinity and as an encore played one song off Evolution..was one of the highlights of many concerts I've been to
Winds of march me encanta la canción 🎶 y escucharla en la más grande y genuina hermosa voz de ♥ Steve Perry ♥ wau fabuloso él artista con la voz más hermosa del mundo excelente perfecto ♥ lindo el video
Yep, was thinking the same thing when that shot came up. Gregg Rolie was such a talent himself, his keyboards and his singing. I totally missed him when he left Journey, but Lord have mercy, what a hottie he was as well!!!
Only the best!!! To me no other singer is better then Steve Perry! Herbie Hebert made Steve Perry but Steve Perry made Neal Schon Greg Rollie Jonathan Cain Steve Smith and Ross Valory. He made them all millons!! And what a great person he is!

@@richardsepulvado1090 Wut? I think you should go back and listen. I mean, Perry wrote what people wanted to hear. Please go listen to all those albums again.
