Alex seems like such a knowledgeable guy. I have the utmost respect for the native peoples of the Americas. My great, great grandmother was full blooded Cherokee but she passed the year before I was born. I wish I could have know her and asked her about her past. Great adventure fellas!
Hi guys... Recently discovered your channel. Started with documentaries about thru- hiking the Appalachian Trail. My father-in-law did the Georgia to Maine trek years ago. I've hiked sections of it. Started following this Southern gal who took off on her own and, once completed, got trail fever. Did the Pacific Crest Trail, then the Continental Divide Trail. I so enjoyed going on this adventure with her. Then discovered Girl in the Woods and Bushradical. By virtue of that connection, discovered you guys! I thoroughly enjoy binge-watching your wilderness adventures! The solos and the ones with your wives. Lived in Minnesota for several years in the 90s. Your videos take me back there. I miss it, blizzards and all! Lake Superior, couldn't get enough of it! Keep it up!
What a great series and what a privilege and honour it must have been for you both to spend time and listen to an Ojibway Elder. Alex must've had a million stories to tell you not caught on camera. Thanks for filming this series. I know you both have your own channels now but it'd be nice to see you both on some other adventures.
I feel like this episode in particular should be shown in school curriculum across Canada. So educational about things we wouldn't learn otherwise from primary sources like Alex. Also very inspirational, and would be great to teach kids the value of nature and preservation. Great job Jim and Ted!
It fits in well with the outdoor education courses that are offered at the high school level. Most high schools in Ontario provide the course under the name "Healthy Living and Outdoor Activities". If you're looking for the course, look for the code PAD1O1 (gr 9) PAD2O1 (gr 10) PAD3O1 (gr 11) or PAD4O1 (gr 12). It could fit in a few other courses as well, such as the grade 9 geography or grade 10 history, some of the aboriginal studies courses, science courses under the ecology unit...
Hell of a trip boys. Productions off the charts, content is fantastic and you two dudes make it real. Reminds me of camping with the boys. I’d be a liar if I told you we never wanted to strangle each other when things get rough. Thanks for sharing, filming and being awesome. Looking forward to the next adventure.
So funny. My 15 year old daughter and I live in London (England) and have recently been watching lots of your videos, guys. We've both started talking about "portaging" to school, having fish with Bay seasoning and going "Awesome!" when excited. Really really love your films, esp the one where Ted proposes at Battleship Rock and you see the double rainbow. Awesome!!
This was one of the best videos I've seen on YT. Thank you so much Alex for sharing all this amazing knowledge & history! And love the Baird brothers for bringing it to us
How did I miss this one lol thanks for sharing, what a great mentor you have in Alex,so wonderful to keep these stories alive, so much respect for our elders.
Fellas, thanks so much for posting this series. I'm especially enjoying this episode. I travel to Temagami regularly for backcountry activities and this video of Alex explaining some of the history we might come across is incredibly inspiring and humbling. Keep making these videos. All the best!

‘‘This is a very entertaining series very much enjoying it. My wife and I are building our off grid dream life and I am hoping to do trips like these when our home is finished. Keep up the good work👍
Now that was special. I’ve seen lots of Indian pictographs but never had them explained to me. Most of them on the rocks on Lk Superior. Alex is a super nice special guy. Your lucky you had him in your life . Thanks great video. Cheers 👍🇨🇦
Amazing series. Such inspirational information, with the awesome brothers Ted and Jim ...and Buck. Alex is a terrific resource and a spiritual link to local history. Truly the best.
This was awesome. I'm planning a similar trip to WCPP this august for 21 days. I've lived in Ontario all my life and it still amazes me that this is my home,my backyard. Every time I go on a trip into the north it feels like everyone who isn't there should jealous.
Very well done. I'm sorry to see the series end. I was hoping you'd be able to stretch the return trip into at least three more episodes. I'm sure there was plenty of fun with the moose skull... What's your next adventure?
We probably could have stretched it out but I think it really ended on a good note and gave a feel for the last part of the journey too. Thanks a lot for watching. We’re not sure what our next trip will have in store but I imagine it will be something special.
That was great. I really loved the 13 minute mark of this video. Super inspiring. Can’t wait to get back to Temagam and explore more of it. I think I was at spirit rock sitting at that camp site just a few weeks after you guys were there. Such a powerful place. Thanks for the awesome series.
My husband and I were introduced to your adventures while watching Shawn and Cali visiting with you both. Thought we'd check your channels out. Loved this little series, thank you so much for sharing. Alex was just as inspiring, and watching Buck enjoy his short visit was so cute. All the best, guys!
Badass brothers, @the end of the day all you have is your brother, “forgive and forget”. Great fk’n adventure, my lunch break consist of your videos. #workfromthehouse Your Boy Kekoa.
I really enjoyed this series. Very entertaining, you two are awesome together. Can’t wait to watch more videos on your channel. Thanks for all your hard work getting it done
Well that was just plain awesome! What a treat to hang and spend time with Alex and hear his wisdom... Much respect for him! This was a excellent series Brothers Baird! Thanks so much for all the hard work it took for you guys to plan, carry gear, film, edit to share with us all! You guys rock!!! Thanks BeAlive for bringing this to us too!
I wish I could ask Alex if he has ever heard of a tribe where almost every tribes person had gold eye. What I mean by that is not green, blue, or brown but gold in color. My great-grandmother is supposedly to be from that tribe, and my father and I have inherited that eye color. It's really rare, and I've always wanted to know about it.
This is my favorite video you guys have done. The spiritual presence of the old growth forest and the burial grounds really touched me. You both were so lucky to experience this! I hope you carry it with you always.
