Wonderful. I saw my first clear cut operation north of Atikokan ON when I was working as lead field technician for McGill Limnology (food chain studies/deforestation effects on Lake Trout) for twelve weeks, summer/fall~'94. Experiencing seeing clear cutting for the first time was brutal. It really leaves a nasty imprint in your memory.

Awesome! I'm so honoured that you guys pitched your tent on my septic bed a couple years ago to film. I got to know you a bit then - and I saw your passion. Now, I am watching the passion unfold, blossom. Never give that up. You have a talent (and more stories) to share - and that you must do.

Thank you for the kind words Kevin. It means a lot coming from you, I grew up watching your presentations as a kid and watching your videos. I’m glad that we got to know each other and look forward to getting to know you some more in the future! Thanks for having us that night we stayed on the septic bed and for filming with us; that weekend really triggered this passion of ours. And lastly, thanks for watching and sharing our posts whenever you can, the littlest things mean the most. Would love to work with you again in the future. 😊

What a lovely video portrait you've shared with viewers. I wasn't familiar with Temagami prior to watching the video. It was in my recommended list and I really enjoyed seeing some of Canada's beautiful landscapes. Your joy and passion for this area was quite evident throughout the film. I cried seeing some of the logging and old protest photos. I'm in Humboldt Co. Calif. and we have had similar issues here. Thank you for working to save what wilderness we still have.

Took my American city-girl wife there in the mid-1990s; it altered her mind permanently, and brought her more in line with my mindset. She had never been in what we consider wilderness. At the time, the local bands were engaged in legal action so they could clear cut whatever they wanted. I see on google earth a lot of clear-cutting, so I guess they won the lawsuits.

This video brings tears to my eyes, such a beautiful land, yet I worry what Temagami be like 20 years from now. Hopefully this film will awake people's passion to care for and protect our wild environment. Let us not let politicians squander this area and others like it for their short term political gain. Well done Hap and Andrea. - Mike McIntosh

I have such mixed feelings about videos like this. On one hand, beautiful depiction of a place I yearn for, the setting of almost all of my fondest memories. On the other... Shhhhhhhh, popularity all to often ruins things. Don't make it look too nice, lest it become Muskoka 2.0. Kidding, a bit.. Great video.

Hahaha, I think it’s too remote to ever become that. It helps that it’s a more advanced park and a lot less beginner friendly (aka Algonquin)

I just cant understand why anyone would anyone want to be apart to destroy a place like this ??? or try to put a monetary value on logging anything close to this beauty ,, What is wrong with us , thank god that there are people like yourselves and all the people who did stand up for something witch is all to frequently lost to greed... is a major oversight by us happening all over the world ,, we need to fight the greedy monsters, this beauty should be our inherent right for the sake of humanity ,something to enjoy and keep sacred for future generations to appreciate and preserve, the Nature it is something we need for our souls to shine and not to be sold like a museum piece that we have to pay for . sorry for the rant but its the truth ,, when will we learn ???

does anyone that actually grew up in Temagami have mixed feelings about this video, especially when they show the portion of protesters in Toronto in the 90's, "Temagami Chainsaw Massacre". Just curious.
@WildCanoes
@WildCanoes 4 года назад
I think that people that grew up there and relied on logging as a career to feed their families would definitely not agree with this. Obviously. But I think the message about protecting the wilderness in Temagami from mining and logging is so much more than protests and activism. So many places and wildlife have been affected negatively from logging and mining. The big picture being that it destroys natural environments and the wildlife living there, this can’t just go on forever. Protests help and every little thing counts but through word of mouth no one listens, hence why we made this documentary with two people that are leaders of an environmental group that actually participated in those protests back in the 90’s.
