Joying did update the harness for the tacomas and now you can retain oem reverse camera and steering wheel controls . I just received my unit and installed it and can confirm it works . I have the 2014 tacoma non JBL and was told to order the JBl harness and it will still me compatible
@@wipachogie10 yes I have the oem camera in my rear view mirror but I also connected it the the head unit. They both work but the rear view mirror camera has a switch that I can turn it on without putting the vehicle in reverse.
Hey bro theres 4 wires from the toyota harness right. Black red white and black with tape. I tried playing it over and over but i only saw that you only connected 3 wires.
What year is your Tacoma? I've read that some have the rear camera display in the factory HU and other are in the rear view mirror. Mine is a 2013 and is in the rear view mirror. Just curious how this compares to your set up. Thanks
Hey bud.. I have the same set up as you .. I was told I needed a canbus adapter for the steering wheel controls... I have it, but joying said I don't need it .. can you detail what you did with that part since yours is working... Great video btw.. thumbs up
Hey thanks for the video! When you did this did you actually cut off wires from the actual toyota harness? Could you not get away with just splicing them as to leave things as factory as possible? Also when ordering this did you have to order the radio that comes with the back camera or did you get everything you needed without ordering that option? Thanks!
Just to be clear you cut off the plug and don’t do anything with the plug but with the wires you do? Have you experienced your unit getting super hott? I’ve had it just sitting in my dash without the mounting brackets for the past week so I’ve been able to pull it in and out easily. After a 30 min drive my Joying main box is almost untouchable it’s so hott. Kind of worries me it will burn up on a longer drive.
My radio doesn't get hot but my truck is tinted so that may help. yes the plug I cut is needed for the rear view camera, but it isn't necessary to cut the plug off you can just tap into the plug with T tap connectors or use the method I used. I haven't had many issues with my head unit. it will on rare occasions reset.
@@wipachogie10 it shows how to wire up in the video. black cable on toyota harness gets connected to the signal cable behind the glove box .those 2 cables get connected to the orange cable labeled on the joying head unit. in video i had it cut just to show what the cable locked like .orange cable is attached to the radio harness .
How is the radio working, Very skeptical about the brand, But looks very well-made, The only issue about backup camera on my end will be that my back up camera screen is in my rear review mirror I could maybe piggy tail splice together the cables and run them down to the actual radio
@@Christophergg279 The Air play works good You can use it wired through USB or through bluetooth. For the camera you should be able to splice the rear view camera into the headunit to get signal .
Did your harness say Toyota Tacoma? I got mine for 2013 Tacoma with jbl and only one of the connectors hook up and the harness says Toyota Prado, I just emailed them too.
if you watch starting at 5 minute mark. it explains what wires are connected to the orange . orange wire comes prewired to the joying harness. it was cut in the video for demonstration purposes. hope this helps
