Its a thing of beauty isn't it, a lot of guys try to come across as "smarter than though" but he comes across so personable for what he's done. Super real and awesome
Dude the ending of this podcast is so funny... George had no idea he just sat there for 3 hours and missed his appointment with Freddie Roach but he was so focused on learning the spinning back kick from Joe after lmao that had me dying

This is the most open gsp has ever been, you can tell he's really comfortable with rogan, a lot of credit obviously goes to Joe, he has a great platform.
It's hard not to like the guy. Carries himself exceptionally well. He's the kinda guy who will see his rival on a bus, walk past the dolly and show you a dinosaur skull.
I never heard an athlete speak with such enlightenment and truth. His mindset is so unique to his peers. Fans of many sports need to hear his words carefully.
Djordje Petrovic Travis Culpepper I know he is so impressive, but he’s a cheat, factually and technically. Just was never a fan of shit talking. Just like he didn't like hurting people, he's said before after his fights he replays the situation cuz he feels too horrible for beating up his opponent.
SpideyFan1993 Travis Culpepper I know he is so impressive, but he’s a cheat, factually and technically. Gsp is hands down the most intellectual MMA fighter there is.... Someone you can have a conversation with and expect to learn from way beyond his sport...
Lmao at Dominic , his movements/ footwork ? Yes , his all around Mixed martial arts pedigree ? That's a negative. Dont be a casual spitting off things you don't understand, you sound silly.
@Antenna2heaven Many people in all of north america will always hate French culture, Quebec is the last place in the Americas French hasn't been beaten and forced out of the population. Just gotta prove the haters wrong, and do better so they can't ignore it
Shaub would say GSP is the G.O.A.T hands down then GSP would say No Mighty Mouse is the G.O.A.T and Shaub would say Yea I agree with you Joe even though Joe hadn't said anything yet lol
GSP has a big accent but uses very precise words and is very well spoken, its so odd. Like his brain learned the language almost completely but his tongue just couldn't
his English is really good though that's what matters. I had to replay like three parts, but it's not a big deal because it doesn't take long to get used to it and his vocabulary is better than a lot of Americans anyways lmao
@@ActionJackson669 I didn't have to replay any, its so easy to fill in the blanks when there is 0 vocabulary errors. I think he made like 1 in the whole video, i remember thinking he was using the wrong word and Joe Rogan didn't bother correcting him. Other than that, if you looked at a transcript of his words, youd legit think he was a native born english speaker.
Brian Myers I'm a pure boxing fan and former boxer, and I love this guy. Everything he says especially when he talks about autopilot or training actions to become reactions applies to boxing and all forms of fighting for that matter.
I've taken more from this interview with GSP than any other interview I've listened to on this show. Georges has a very well developed way of looking at life in general, and is very unbiased in his analysis regardless of his ideas. This man has my utmost respect.
Only on JRE can you hear legit discussions of neurology, paleontology, geology, metaphysics, etc, between two guys that could pulverize you and all your friends at the same time.
I thought the same thing. It took GSP a few minutes to warm up, but once he let his guard down, it was an amazing show. I think he was self-conscious about the whole "alien abduction/that's CTE" thing from last time. It was nice to see him be able to joke about it though.
it's insane the amount of knowledge and wisdom this guy has and how he express it, it's so beautiful to listen to and watch, not a lot of great champions are like George, and English isn't even his first language and this how good he is, mentally, physically, tough not to say he's the greatest of all time.
There's something particularly weirdly pleasant to watch gsp talk about all these different subjects. And Joe... He's like elevating every discussion to a whole new level. Just a very nice, entertaining well-made podcast. Thank you guys!
@@bonvivant55 how can you implement a good tactic without good technique. That's like fighters who got great coaches but are shitty, it doesn't work. You could be more wrong. But you're still pretty damn wrong, though.
If someone doesn't like GSP, then that person is most likely an ass hole. And probably a predator. Predators try to capitalize on Vulnerable people. Supreme athlete. Great character. Perfect guy to represent Canada!!
@@matthill2923 did you watch the entire podcast? I say that, because George talks about this assumption as well. You can’t claim that every person who doesn’t like George is an asshole. He doesn’t choose to not like him. There are certain reasons behind it. You can’t judge people only on what they say or do. There are deeper problems there
40 these days is like being 30 unless you're extremely unhealthy or you have bad genes. I'm 41 and most people who I meet at first think I'm in my mid 20s.
I'm not an MMA fan, never heard of this guy, and tend to steer clear of Joe's MMA podcasts- but I thought "I'll give this one a shot" and boy was I glad I did! This guy is awesome! such a down to earth dude, smart and entertaining. I have second thoughts on MMA now, and will probably check out fights in the future. I would love to meet this guy some day- reminds me of one of my buddies. Great Podcast!
This was your first time watching an MMA podcast and you happened to have stumbled upon the greatest of all time. Keep watching, you're in for a treat.
Martin DeVido this is how you become not only an MMA fan but a Hardcore Fan! By getting to know the fighters outside of fighting. Nick Diaz , Jake Shields and Gilbert Melendez did it for me. Plus Bas Rutten. Royce, Ken, Frank , Fuck You get it! Rickson, Eddie Bravo, I could name 200 more names.
Man, I absolutely loved hearing Georges talk about the Bisping fight. He has so much respect for Bisping's abilities, and it's amazing to hear the details of that fight from a guy as thoughtful as GSP who was right there in the cage doing it. Incredible.
Right?!? Glad they addressed the aliens/consciousness talk after the fight stuff. People didn’t understand that the first time and this time he really got to explain his views and it made for a great show
Listening to this man start talking about dinosaurs and paleontology right after talking about what it means to be the best is actually one of the best moments in this podcast's history.
Captain Falange GSP is clean, and always has been. And for those that use the “cycle” argument don’t realise that the USADA testing is irregular and test those under high suspicion the most. Where it wouldn’t be possible for cycling.
Captain Falange I do and don’t think gsp was clean. It doesn’t make sense a natty could compete with all the roided up guys he was fighting plus there is the speculation about his bubble gut and there were spots on his stomach at some weigh ins. But at the same time he never pissed hot and he was being tested by vada to my knowledge for much of his career and vada tested better than normal ufc tests not to mention was a huge advocate for testing. If he was dirty, he wasn’t dirty his whole career. Something tells me he couldn’t have been dirty for Hendricks or Bisping but it’s more possible than people think that he was dirty
Dalton Williams it is also because French and English have a lot of similarities when it comes to vocabulary. Grammar is very different. Vocabulary is rather similar.
I’m a 6 feet 250 lbs fat guy, I have never in my life done a push up exercise because I always thought I’m too heavy, after watching this, for 3 days, I did 3 sets of 10 push ups each day first thing in the morning, this is very inspiring
I think GSP is the most intelligent, open-minded, curious and interesting high level athlete I've ever heard. Staggering to hear a cage-fighter discussing paleontology and the concept of free-will. I struggle to think of one world level athlete in any sport who could keep up with this level of conversation.
Even before he mentioned Firas and the knowledge he imparts on GSP I could tell he has had an influence in the way GSP asks questions - for anyone interested in the philosophical aspect I would highly recommend you checkout the Tristar channel and look up his AMA - The Meaning of Life video
I've always liked GSP but watching this made me have a whole new respect for him...the wonderful thing about Joes show is that you see these people being more honest and genuine than anywhere else.
i think its because joe talks about such ridiculous things and talks to such crazy people, that anyone else who comes on figures they can at least be themselves. ha
That was, by far, my favourite MMA podcast. I feel like I actually got to know the real Georges, which is so hard to pull off in an interview. Seriously excellent job. Me I tink GSP is the GOAT. I can't wait for the 'hangry lion' to take McGregor's lucky charms.
lmfao that start was trippy, joe asked if cauliflower stops him from wearing earbuds, and that mistranslation went to them both not wearing head phones hahaha
This is one of the best podcasts iv ever listened to. George is incredible. That story about him bumping into the guy that bullied him in HS was truly moving. Thanks for these Joe you have no idea what they do for us people.
He is so laid back. I think he's just got a gift and he used it. Before he was a fighter he was a garbageman, i'll never forget it when i heard that. He's got a body that is pretty much god given. Its nice to see him doing well, it's what we all would want for ourselves.
Joe always had a tremendous amount of respect for GSP when he was covering his fights as the play by play guy. You can tell that he is enjoying his conversation with GSP more than most guests he has had on his program

@@MannyRiberaOriginal english and french are nothing alike, yes some ppl can speak many languages but usually they are similar, such as italian, spanish, and french.. to speak english as well as him is rare
He was my favourite MMA fighter for that reason. He had character. He was like the protagonist of a movie - you want him to win not because of his circumstance but because of who he is.
Ok so I cant believe I'm just now realizing that GSP is like the most adorable person ever in an interview. Quiet an extreme dichotomy considering he is also like one of the most dangerous men of all time. Much Love to the JRE.

George Is A True Champion. His honesty, respect, humbleness, authenticity, and discipline make him not only one of the best fighters ever but in my opinion, the best person to ever enter the ring.
Nah not on him as a person, no... but he did rub vaseline all over his back against BJ Penn a few years back. "The good acts does not wash out the bad, nor the bad the good."
Wisdom oozing from this conversation. GSP is what got me into the UFC as a curious teen watching my first fight on TV - I distinctly remember staying up to watch it whilst on holiday in Delhi. A decade plus later I realize this guy is a gem, a calculated fighter, and is he the greatest of all time? Undisputedly.
This was one of your best podcasts of all time, Joe, in my opinion. St. Pierre is so intelligent, such a master and such a legend. All that and his personality really came through in this podcast. I absolutely loved this.
@@evyatarhadar8867 he was an actor who blew up but martial arts was always first he did multiple tournaments and has fought many legends who he clapped 😂 he beat chuck norris and wong jackman a grandmaster he also dominated in street fights since he was hated by a lot in the beginning of his life he even was disliked by his mentor and master ip man for some time but then eventually made him proud
Joe, really need to keep the camera rolling after the podcast. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would love to see you guys practicing and hanging out in that compound of yours.
Matthew Watson can never have enough footage. And I'm not just talking about showing GSP his kick. Other stuff too like him shooting bow with his guests.
Joe Botz why is English even in discussion?...... He would be that smart even if he didn't know a word in English.... Knowing English does not necessarily make you smart. It's just a language.
I think it's pretty obvious that they meant he's able to convey a high level of intelligence in his non-native tongue. Anderson Silva for example sounds pretty simple minded when he speaks English because his available lexicon is small - it doesn't mean he's not intelligent, but he's not able to convey his intelligence to an English audience.
