Was far from the most talented with just average skills across all traits but damn! His cardio was amazing and you can't take away the fact he was a clean champ.
The most deserving fighter to ever win the gold. Fought roided brutes in the early days, never had substance or weight issues. Probably the most legitimate champion in MMA.
Love him or hate him, he deserved and earned that belt - I’ve personally have been a fan for years and also wasn’t a fan during the Hendo fight lead up - this man help build the UFC especially in the UK - the man gave an eye to the sport and never bitched about the cost - much respect to a true warrior.
I remember in the early days there was no fighter I disliked more than Michael Bisping and now I realized why. It was because he talked so much shit and had so much hate towards these big name fighters but he had a huge reason to be that way. Cuz they were all roided out and on PED’s. He knew what he was fighting and what he was up against and how back then the UFC protected these guys. I’m so glad his life turned out the way it did. Not with losing his eye but with coming back and winning the title. By that point I had grown to love em. He’s actually a great guy. He just didn’t want to be mistreated as a fighter, which back then he constantly was. The hands of fate worked out in his favor tho and there is no one more deserving of it than him.
I’ll always have respect for Michael still not better then jones but for him to win the title with one eye is crazy 🤦🏾♂️ even with the big disadvantage against highly trained fighters with 2 eyes he is a goat in his own category
@@jamesmat803 almost every fighter fights with 1 eye. once you get cut and start bleeding into your eye then youre basically blind at that point. dunno what the fuss is about
After Luke destroyed Machida and then destroyed Weidman to become champion, I thought he was going to be a long reigning dominant champion. But Bisping ruined that lol
@Stevey TeeVee No. When Luke lost to Bisping, he lost that part of himself that made him who he was. Bisping took his soul with that knockout and Luke never mentally recovered. He even started dating Demi Lovato after getting knocked out by Bisping lmao...
I went from completely despising Bisping to having the upmost respect for the guy, you get what you see with him he’s always 100% authentic and that is truly a noble quality
Biggest face turn in UFC history. Always supported him with him coming from a town close to me, but it was always disheartening seeing so much hate towards him. It was great to see him earn people's respect with the Anderson fight and the second Rockhold fight. It only became more amplified when everyone realised the extent of his eye injury. Plus he never pissed hot like a lot of his opponents!
I often hated Bisping for his trash talking but it was great to see him win the belt. There's a guy that's put in his time and showed up to every opportunity he was offered. He earned that shit.
Darik Datta I was the same for a long time. When he won though you could see how genuine he was in his happiness and it made me feel great for him. Became a big fan after, even when he fought my fav GSP i actually enjoyed the trash talk promo tour. Glad he got to have the belt before he retired. Fought anyone anytime anywhere which is so different from many current fighters.
@@SportTalkForDummies He fought anyone, anywhere? After he won that belt,he ducked the entire division, and held on to the belt much longer than he should have. And that doesn't even take into account all of his so called "injuries" while he held the belt.
worst middleweight to hold the belt in ufc history padded record biggest wins were in uk and were bullshit decisions, ufc were trying to be strategic for the british market
Bisping is a real fighter he already lost to rockhold he was shooting a movie and he had 2 weeks notice and still had the balls to fight him I still can't believe he knocked him out cold what a legend 😂
Watched every single ufc bisping fight. I was beginning to look like he would never get that chance.... It really is a beautiful story. England's rocky 🥊 🏴
Does England really feel that way about bisping? If so, that's awesome!! I mean I'm sure hard core english mma fans do. But did it seep out into the masses a bit? I like bisping
The reason him knocking out rockhold was satisfying was the same reason Henderson knocking out bisping was satisfying. And douche got what was coming to him
Highflyer21-,It was definitely more satisfying to see Hendo knock Bisping out cold after all the shit talking he done leading up to that fight.Bisping was definitely down for "The Count"...probably where he got his nickname from.
@@davidh1249 Bisping was great on that show. Hendo was a boring dude. People take Bisping too seriously. He is just having fun by being a bit of a dick. But in a charming way.
Bispings journey to the belt is such a compelling and amazing story. Hats off to that guy for all the effort his put in through his life. A pure fighter
Bisping is the average joe blow who showed hard work and determenation and never gave up and finally won the title. One eye, no steroids not gentically gifted or a super athlete. Straight up fighter.
One of my favorite MMA stories of all time, Bisping getting his title shot on two weeks notice after fighting for so long and never being able to get there, and knocking out his rival that already beat him. Truly incredible.
Yep they watch said something about me that I think holds true for Bisbee I may not always be right but I call it like I see it I think he definitely calls it like he sees it can I get any better now play she was only one good eye LOL
@Rybo Stain you're talking about My Destiny here on RU-vid and it's epic. I've probably watched it 20 times now lol. Really looking forward to his proper documentary being released though 🥋🤙
I too absolutely hated Michael Bisping back in the day around the ultimate fighter with him and Dan Henderson now I can’t see believe achieve how I felt that way about him.
Everytime Michael Bisping makes a comment that annoys me, I remember he KOed Luke "I'm the greatest creature on Earth ever" Rockhold and then I'm completely fine with Bisping all over again. Thanks, Michael!
And I thought Rockhold was a beast who could hold that belt forever ... what a terrible mis-judgement on my part. I didn't realize Luke was such a primadonna so it was awesome to see Left Hook Larry knock him tf out.
Player 1998 rogan is one of the highest grossing conedians in the history of comedy. you don't get where he is in comedy by not being funny whether YOU like his comedy or not is irrelevant
Awyatt Mann you realise he beat these fighters “who were past their prime” when Bisping was also past his prime. He beat Anderson Silva when he was 37, and won the belt at 38. He was hardly young.
@Awyatt Mann you my man are a bitter sad man, how can you call someone a journeyman when they are a professional fighter and getting a title shot, never mind winning the belt and beating one of if not the greatest fighter of all time Anderson. You probably haven't trained a day in your life do your opinion doesn't mean shit
Awyatt Mann hey moron he was old too and kelvin only was able to do that because bisping was just chocked by gsp full camp bisping would have killed kelvin
This is awesome! I remember watching that fight with my buddy whose no longer here and we were both pulling for Mike and despite being a huge underdog we both thought he could win and had a gut feeling he might edge it lol. When he rocked him we went absolutely nuts it was a great memory looking back. Glad he got his belt and when you hear the back story it’s even better shows you to never quit and always take opportunities and stay in shape.
I haven't missed a ufc fight since around UFC 180. I have never been that happy seeing someone win a belt. I cried like a little kid. NO ONE in the UFC has ever deserved it more than Bisping. Such a wonderful moment. Anyone that followed the sport knew how much work this guy put in for that one goal .
Bisping knocking out Luke will forever be the best moment in UFC history for me. He has been disrespected his entire career by both fans and fighters while he always showed up, gave some spectacular fights, and always did it while clean. It's also worth noting more than 80 percent of his professional losses came at the hands of known substance abusers. I also remember bloody elbow prematurely naming a "reward" after him, and it involved a list of fighters that were always top of the division but never won a belt. I understand the criticism but beating Luke for the belt is something they'll never take away from him. Nothing but respect for Mike.
Fuck yeah man... always been a fan before hendo fight, I got into him when I found out when he found out his name had Nobility... he's a lord... I always found that awesome 🤣 gentleman fighter👌🤣
Man lot of guys from England are great story tellers... Know 1 in person always have some good stories to tell, other guy from England i know from Counter strike, chill dude, fun to talk with.
Never missed weight, never failed a drug test, never missed a press conference, never turned down a fight. In over a decade. Fought nearly half his career with one eye and his last four fights with one knee. That is a professional. That is a real tough man.
Man, his post fight speech after the rockhold fight is one of the best I think. I show that to my students who want to compete, to just be you, and work as hard as you can. God bless Mike Bisping.
@@octobeastX ,Until he actually got the belt, then he dodged THE WHOLE FUCKING DIVISION!!!He hand picked an over the hill Henderson, then went for the money grab, thinking it was safe enough to fight a welterweight.Bisping may have been a great contender, but he was a shitty champion, holding up the division far too long.
Confessor Cromwell same here watched it on my phone in bed woke my mrs at the time up by shouting with happiness early hours of the morning 😂 such a good moment in MMA seeing a guy grinding his whole life to finally getting that gold
Man, MB was such a real badass, a born fighter........achieved through hard work, perseverance, self belief & the very rare, intangible trait that all true champions possess. The man fought with 1 eye & blagged the commission into believing he had vision........never took peds, never complained that he suffered life changing injuries from cheats......DH, VB & AS & carried on competing to become a MW champion. He would fight anyone, often with only a couple of weeks notice. His trash talk was never out of order, always spoken with context & is now a refreshingly honest, witty & accurate pundit, keeping it real as always
Most hated guy on the roster in 2015? Really? Sounds like a casual to me. I'd agree that maybe between 2008 2011 he was unpopular but mutual fans got behind him after the Sonnen fight and even more after the eye injury. Only fight he got booed in the last 6 years was Tim Kennedy and Brian Stann who are considered an American hero due to still being serving soldiers. Back in 2015 there was Travis Browne battering his wife, Jon Jones doing hit&runs on pregnant women, more usada cheats, Romero cheating in 3 consecutive fights, Bisping flew under the radar as it was a quiet year from being a regular main eventer to the undercard fighting the CB Dolloways and Thales Leites of this world.
Bisping and Sonnen are the two greatest heels to have an amazing career after the fighting. I could listen to those two talk for days and never get bored
Jorge Perpuly say what you want he still became a UFC champion and he has more money than he can ever spend. Ngl he probably makes more money a month than you or me make a year. Kinda depressing tbh. You could say “money isn’t everything” but I know I’d rather be in a position where I could wipe my ass with most people’s monthly wage over living in a 1 bedroom house driving a fiat made in 2001
@Awyatt Mann Bisping doesn't like roided up freaks. Last time he fought one, he lost an eye. Yoel got there thanks to a bullshit win and a shit ton of steroids since a very young age. He had no business fighting the champ.
8:35. I’ll never forget Mark Hunt being asked how he knew he had knocked out his opponent. “I can feel it”. I always thought that was such a badass line. Walk away knockout king. Love Mark Hunt.
Bisping is up there for my favourite fighters of all time, when he won the belt was by far my favourite ufc moment, he might not be the best fighter technically, however his heart and determination are second to none! Always fights with his flag in his heart! Such a commendable guy
I initially was not a fan of Bisping, but over the course of time I have come to admire his heart, desire and drive. Its obvious that this guy works his ass off, and it has paid off. Much respect.
best b'day present the UFC ever gave me! thank you Michael Bisping! i always loved you as a fighter and seeing you as a champion was one of the best moments the UFC ever had!
Respect to bisping and his career not alot of guys like him glad to see he actually won the title once and wish him well with his health and the rest of his life!!!
People we all have to understand clearly how difficult and mind setting it has to be to come and beat a guy who has already murked you in under 7 mins . Than come back and beat dominating champion by KO after losing by brutal fashion by Luke:
He bloody earned it big time. Fire on the mic and a proper skilled hard working guy :) I miss him in the ring but man i love him on that commentator job.
