In this video I am featuring Jubilee Class 4-6-0 No. 45604 'Ceylon' The era depicted here is in the immediate aftermath of the nationalisation of the railways circa 1949/50 when experimental liveries were being trialled. Lined black was an almost default position pending a final decision on colour schemes which can be seen here on the Midland Compound hauling an express perishables train and Coronation Class Pacific 'City of Leicester'. The Jubilee 'Ceylon' was one of the select few which received an LNER green with red, cream and grey lining. This was to be very short lived however as GWR dark green with black and orange was adopted for all express passenger locomotives. 'Ceylon' retained this livery until withdrawal in 1965.
