Lesson 4: JUDAISM
*Judaism is an ancient monotheistic religion.
* Abraham/Abram as the founder of Judaism.
- Father of all Nation
* Sarah/Sarai- Mother of all Nation
*Canaan- Promised Land
*Isaac- son of Abraham and Sarah
*Jacob/Israel- son of Isaac and Esau
*Israel means “one who has been strong against God"
*Jews have been regarded as “people,” “nation".
-They are also referred to as the “chosen people”.
*Moses - considered the most important prophet in Judaism. An Israelite who grew up in the Egyptian court escaped to Sinai where God spoke to him from a burning bush.
*10 Commandments- Moral law
*TANAKH- Torah, Nevim, Ketuvim
*Sects- Orthodox Judaism, Conservative Judaism, Reform Judaism
