70s priest. The true essence of this band. The variety of their music is unlimited. Stained class is my favorite 70s priest album but sin after sin is just brilliant
I still remember my jaw dropping to the floor the day that my friend Gary said, "wait till you hear this new Priest album" and then he put this side on and cranked it! Still sounds just as good as it did 47 years ago!
Let Us Prey is probably the first example of speed metal, and Dissident Aggressor is the first example of Thrash. This album was another groundbreaking album from Priest.
I'd categorize this masterpiece album as follows: Sinner: Proto-goth Metal Diamonds and Rust: Melodic Starbreaker: Metal Last Rose of Summer: Ballad LUP - Call for the Priest: Speed Metal Raw Deal: Prog Metal Here Come the Tears: Power Ballad Dissident Aggressor: Prog Metal This offers just about everything and it does it so well. I am so proud of this album and fortunate that it has been in my collection for nearly 40 years!
(Tipton, Halford) Well, the pressure's too much, you know I peaked last night I gotta get some a quick release City is standing on my shoulders My body's going piece by piece Yeah! Yes I know what I want and I know where to get it And I'm going there right away This is one priest that I don't have to fall on Down to my knees and pray No! When your back's to the wall come along one and all We shall fight all the slander that's penned It's us we shall choose let the bigoted lose For our triumph's the means to their end With you by my side I shall ride every storm Let the cynics drop dead in their critical head They're wrist merchants as we all can see Bunch of deaf ears with their columnized fears What a shame, what a shame, oh dear me! When your back's to the wall, come along one and all We shall fight all the slander that's penned It's us we shall choose let the bigoted lose For our triumph's the means to their end Yes I know what I want and I know where to get it And I'm going there right away This is one priest that I don't have to fall on Down to my knees and pray
If I knew half the words I would b a singer ,rob knows his wrap and scream like a lion knows his roar sweet vocal and dam heavy beautiful metal band ,ya just become thee sinner and its no different just a new day to rock nroll
"Let Us Prey / Call For The Priest" Call for the priest I'm dying... Well, the pressure's too much, you know I peaked last night I gotta get some a quick release City is standing on my shoulders My body's going piece by piece Yeah! Well I know what I want and I know where to get it And I'm going there right away This is one priest that I don't have to fall on Down to my knees and pray No! Yes
"I know what I want and I know where to get it" - do you think that was a riposte to the then contemporary "Anarchy in the U.K."'s "Don't know what I want but I now how to get it"? An early metal's defiance of the onslaught of punk that was dominating the rock scene at the time? Whatever it was, this is inventive, powerful and highly original music, built to last through the ages.
Lyrics: ----------- Call for the priest, I'm dying. Priest songs similar (my list) 1) Let us Prey/Call for the Priest 2) Electric Eye 3) Rapid Fire 4) Screaming for Vengeance 5) Tyrant (Unleashed Live) 6) Exciter (Unleashed Live) 7) Freewheel Burning 8) Hell Bent for Leather Feel free to add.. Bonus: slow long song 'Run of the Mill' first LP
I can't be the only one who feels shades of Stained Class with this one. Also, did Maiden lift parts from this for Powerslave's "Back in The Village"? It sure sounds similar.
Iron maiden totally ripped of judas priest, just like the majority of metal bands that came after them. They opened for priest on their killers tour. The writing is on the wall
@@eddiep2899 in terms of band age yeah they are 2 years older but queen had albums out first and Halford at a minimum is a big fan (not sure about the others). Listen to the album version of tie your mother down which came out in 76 before sin after sin you can clearly see the influence from queen
