Been a fan since discovering heavy metal at 13 in 1981 (although my buddies older sister had Master Of Reality from Black Sabbath that we played the crap out of at 10 years old in '77). I got Priest's Screaming For Vengeance and Maiden's Number of The Beast when they both had just came out. I never discovered Starbreaker until I bought the cassette at a flea market in the late 90's. I nearly crapped my pants when I heard this! I must have played it 3 times before letting it go to the next tune! It's hard to pick a favorite Priest tune by itself, but this immediately rose into my top 10 favorites by them from the first time I heard it!
[Tipton/Halford] Look out, here's Starbreaker Cruisin' into town Set his mind to stealin' Every little heart around Step out on the sidewalks If you're feeling game He comes but once a lifetime Never seen again Starbreaker Glides in from the sky Starbreaker Takes you up so high Paradise is waiting For the chosen few Let's hope maybe this time He picks me and you Star voyage to a new world Light-year miles away Cross your fingers, here he is Take us now this day Starbreaker Glides in from the sky Starbreaker Takes you up so high Starbreaker, take my hand Starbreaker, understand Starbreaker, you're the one Starbreaker, lead us on, and on [SOLO (K.K./Glenn/both)] Look out, here's Starbreaker Cruisin' into town Set his mind to stealin' Every little heart around Step out on the sidewalks If you're feeling game He comes but once a lifetime Never ever seen again Starbreaker Glides in from the sky Starbreaker Takes you up so high
A very young Simon Phillips just fit so well with a young and hungry Priest on this album. Sucks they couldn't get him to go out for the tour, but Binks did a helluva job as a follow-up. The rare bootlegs from the '77 tour are something to behold if you get a chance to listen to them.
This is one of my Favorite Judas Priest songs because of the drums. Simon Phillip's contribution really made this album stand out among the earlier ones.
Yeah, couldn't have said it better myself. Another shame that Binks didn't stay in the band for more than two studio albums, he was easily the best full time drummer JP had. And imagine my face when after many years of listening to the '80 to '90 albums and having Simon Phillips as my favourite drummer (without looking into his discography) I found this album.
*-The Whole Album Is A Gem, Including The Version, The Golden Years Of Judas Priest, Please Stay At Home And Listen To It At Full Volume ..... Long Live The Metal Gods🤟🎸😌.*
Who would ever think of putting handclaps in a pummeling Metal song, and it totally works?? This is just one of so many reasons why Judas Priest is one of the 5 greatest Metal bands ever!!!! 🤘🏻
Another name for Starbreaker is the Dark Destroyer, the most negatively dark multi-dimensional entity that existed probably in this entire universe. This psychopathic entity almost destroyed this last wondrously amazing Nexus planet known as Midgard and all of us with it. But, it was the Destroyer who now no longer exists in it's previous form. Probably sent to Source or possibly permanently destroyed, never to return.
Nemesis. The "Star of the Cross" The sign that Constantine saw in the sky before a great battle during the Roman Civil War (East vs West). This star apparently, is our sun's brother and is covered (80%) in Black Obsidian and that magnetics are so strong our own Sun's light does not escape or bounce off of it. It has 7 moons. 3 Minor ones in the center in a line... and four major moons at what appears to be four points... forming the shape of a cross in the sky if viewed at from the correct angle. Other angles of view only show a "blue blur" in the sky (this goes along with the Hopei prophecy of "Blue Kachina") When the star's face aims at earth it is blood red (Red Kachina in Hopei legend). The star is basically a small brown dwarf that is 6x the size of Jupiter. One prophecy is that the Star will come (from above a sunset if you can imagine it).... and rise into the sky as a blueish blur... then will grow larger and descend in front of the earth and the sun... blocking light for 3 days as it passes. The earth's gravitational and magnetic pull will be TO IT during this time causing many earthquakes.... It has been here before... and has been recorded before. It's speculated that the sun used to rise in the North and set in the south. Everytime this thing comes by it causes the earth to shake and move to the point our sun rises and sets in a different direction each time. Those that built the Pyramids were destroyed by it... Prophecies call this "The Sabbath" day (or in Hopei legend... "The Great Cleansing"). Israel records this as "The Destroyer but it is a wrecking ball in our Solar System. It has a very large *but very fast* orbit around our sun and our sun is also trying to orbit it (but fails). It comes around very often (probably 200 years or so) but either we are on the opposite side of the sun at the time... or at an angle where we do not see it pass due to the "absorbing nature" of the K-Signal Magnetic force it emits which causes light to go to it and not bounce... (in order to see something light must hit it and bounce off of it and into your eyes). About every 3,500 to 4,000 years (variable) it actually gets between the earth and the sun. A rare occasion. The star's own light is immune (so to speak) from it's own magnetic pull... at least from it's face angle and sides (which is probably how Constantine saw it). Others thought to have seen this star are the ancient Aryans (not the Nazi's... but the original Aryans). Who also invented the swastika which is essentially, a "cross" in motion as it turns in the sky. Some have suggested the three planets (minor ones) in the center that make up part of the line... are "Herculobus, Niberu, and possibly... Eden" The four major moons (or planetoids) that form the points could very well be... "The Four Horsemen Of the Apocalypse". Each one taking turns wreaking destruction upon the earth as it passes. This star cannot be seen (coming at us) with the naked eye or telescope... Infra red has shown it ! It will come from out of our own Sunlight (hidden by it) as well as its own blackness and all you will see is a blue blur at first which may seem like a cloud.... but every sunset it will be there if someone notices. Revelations 12.1 "And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars."
i owed this tape when i lved in a flat in lawrence ma, my mates were an irish family with a love of chevys and budweiser, i miss them cause they treated me like a brother, and this reminds me of a happier simple time of music beer and weed.
I bought this album and a Hawkwind album in a bargain bin in the late 70s and played the shit out of them, but then again i got hooked on Motorhead and Saxon and and they started gathering dust so its refreshing to hear it again, great song 🎵 the start of the hard rocking Priest sound we love today 💣💥☠
The album cover design on this record is Amazing. With a dark green ocean and a temple like monument in the front with a translucent girl and a dark man. The album is great and i have bought it on vinyl. I have heard that the sound quality is better on vinyl🎶💿
I also love that eerie yet beautiful artwork this was the album that got me hooked on Judas Priest and almost every album til this day has been my favorite been a fan since 04 (30 now btw)
Absolutely better on vinyl! Told my buddy that when CD's first started coming out and he thought I was nuts. I told him the CDs may clean up the background noise but they take out the depth! Years later, he agreed.
That intro Simon Philips plays is well thought out - he could have taken the easy way and just did an open triplet - bass - right - left, but he put an extra beat in: Bass - right - left - right. The album IMHO is one of their best ever. The guitars on this album and Rocka Rolla were a lot drier, giving the songs a tighter sound - instead of being drowned in reverb an delay.
Classic 70s metal, Simon Phillips with an effortless groove here, one can see the influence those dual leads had on Maiden, Fate and Helloween. Love those drum fills in the outro too...
This track really showcases the wide range of Rob Halford's voice. Holly smoke!! Judas Priest is a popular band, but they are still much better than they get credit for being. Props to them!! (almost 59 years old and still jamming to any of their tracks that I hear)
I am created Shiva The Destroyer. Can't wait for the new album. Glenn Cheers! J.P. for me since the first tour I saw. Killing Machine /Hell Bent For Leather. Last was Firepower and all in between with Rob. 🍻
