Lyrics
From a fireball we came crossed sea and mountain
We were drinking beauty with our eyes
We were given all to make our own let us be left alone
Laid the tasks and paid the price, everything survives
Crushed and bolted all the great
After every win, what a stake we're in
It's paying better than the grave
When we talk without amend, we see red, and then
Deep inside the blood begins to boil
Like a tiger in the cage
We begin to shake with rage

I don`t give a shit what anyone says. This album, the denim and leather, the attitude was the moment real Heavy Metal was born.

Actually Priest has much heavier albums prior to this. This album was more commercial but great. Killing Machine and the brilliant Sad Wings of Destiny look into it.

@@kennethfeula2773 SWOD is my Favorite Priest album. Opening with "Victim... and on to Tyrant, the Ripper and Dreamer Deciever. No filler on "wings". It is not as "metal as later stuff though. Closer to just killer Rock. But I love it man!! Sorry, "The Ripper" is track 2. Talk about a 1-2 punch!! This is the moment that Heavy Metal was born. The denim and leather, the power chords played thru Marshall JCM 800`s, soaring vocals that sang out with lyrics with a message beyond "Johnny loves Sue" and made you question "authority" or see things in a new way, and the attitude that went along with that. The pieces were there. In 1980, all of those things were tied together on one album. British Steel, and Judas Priest. The mold had been completed.

JP is underrated as far as being known for melodies. Maiden is usually listed as more known for that, BUT I think JP has just as much melody but still is METAL. Iron Maiden tends to get more progressive rock sounding sometimes.
@ThreeDaysOfDan
@ThreeDaysOfDan 3 года назад

@MS-ii1sv
@MS-ii1sv 2 года назад
@@ThreeDaysOfDan Priest has a bigger body of work. They had more influence on rock and metal. They have far more variety as you just said. But when you put the best Maiden against the best Priest I can see someone preferring them depending on their tastes. Those first 5 Maiden albums are pretty awesome. If you compare what Priest did from the time of Maiden's debut and go album for album you see Maiden end up as easily the better band by Number of the Beast. I would give it to Priest overall but I get where you're coming from.
