I’m a gun owner and I absolutely believe that parents need to be held responsible if their child gets a hold of their gun and hurts somebody or even themselves with it.
I really adore how she paused between sentences, takes her time to formulate her thoughts. She rarely says filler words like umm or uh. She is very careful with her words and her statements. Such an important skill in effectively expressing one's opinion.
More people are murdered with blunt objects not Guns in the United States. If we are not careful we will Follow the U.K's Lack of Logic and will ban Knifes instead of addressing the Mental Illness Issue. Stop blaming Inanimate objects and start offering better treatments to not only save the sufferers life but anyone they could hurt in the future.
Suzanne Morris Alright so if my house was being robbed and my kids are in danger I'll just ask the guy to wait patiently while I go get my gun. If used for defense, guns need to be readily accessible otherwise the person with their gun out already wins. What most parents don't know how to do is educate and train their kids in gun safety.
@@SoAlliSucks not showing them how to shoot up schools, Luciana is saying teach them the dangers, telling them to stay away from them and be mature and realize it’s there to protect them
@@lucianamarino3976 bruh. If it's not on you, it's not being controlled by you. If you can't keep it on you 24/7 then lock it up. Teach your kids however you feel you need to, but responsibility of gun ownership is 100% on the gun owner.
I have the up most respect for Judge Judy. She's a very smart woman and she speaks nothing but the truth! I think she was dead balls on in this case. Guns SHOULD be locked up at all times, ESPECIALLY when there are children in the home. Seriously, how many more innocent students, teachers, or folks just trying to go about their lives need to be killed before something changes. Any time I see news about yet another school shooting, I can't help but feel the TRUEST FEAR about sending my son to school the next day.
Sandra Lyn so when someone breaks in you will have to tell your intruder HOLD ON I have to unlock my guns before you come in And of course the criminal will wait Sigh 😔
Then let parents be parents. Same goes for the teachers. We allow this to happen. Also NO one join the military til 21. This is what i see is going to happen. Voting age will go back up since we are children til age of 21.
Sandra Lyn I’m really considering homeschooling my kids. I have a couple of years before I need to make that choice but with everything that is going on we really can’t trust anyone. Good luck next year
Crazy to think, I have my shotgun sitting against the wall in my room and it’s been there for a long time, but just thinking that anyone can grab it and go do something bad with it made me think. Now I’m gonna move it to a secure place.
MichaelHansenFUN is there anywhere that says a maximum age? From what I can tell there isn't one and a lot of presidents have been in their 70s like her.
Children not having guns sounds like a good idea, given how impulsive they generally tend to be, but waiting till 21 for a drink and a cig doesn't align with me at all. I'm open to changing my mind though.
Piotr Tarasov I use to be on the judges's side here, but I heard from people like yourself, since I chose to hear different points of view as suggested even in this video, and I flipped. I believed they should push it to 21 as well, but it doesn't hold logistically in a number of ways. Your reason is one of them, but there are alot more. Not to mention that raising the age to 21 wouldn't have even worked here. Alot of oversimplification is done with many these days, but we have to get granular. I changed my viewpoints on a few things because I saw the granular arguments.
lisa myhre I'm sure that's the case, but the times, values and people's character have changed, maybe you're right though, can't imagine myself using a gun when I was kid. The lethality and ease of use however could cause trouble, kids love to play with toy guns and for one may confuse the real deal for a toy not remotely realizing the consequences. But you made your point, the "individual aspect" and "context of growing up" may have weight in this. So, as to keeping guns in a safe location under legal force, I'm all for it and not yet convinced otherwise. Again, open for debate.
There is that word again. Responsibility. If we know our responsibilities, our rights will be known automatically. With rights comes great responsibility.
I have one issue with Judge Judy..... SHE'S NOT RUNNING FOR OFFICE!!! I know she just wants to rest, but i wonder what her price would be. I'll pay her. Honestly.
I'm in NZ, I have a Toddler and I own Semi-automatics. They live in my Gun Safe. The Bolts and ammunition live in a separate safe with a separate key. To get to where the Gun Safe is, you have to go through 2 deadbolts - one of which is positioned where only an Adult can reach. I absolutely agree with JJ about irresponsible gun owners not correctly securing their Firearms.
MajesticDemonLord You keep your bolts in a separate safe??!? I'm guessing protecting your house/child from home invasion isn't a concern? Do you at least have ONE somewhere, ready to go??
Man, I wish Judge Judy would run for president. Such an intelligent woman, she speaks nothing but the truth. I have so much respect for this woman. I used to watch Judge Judy with my mom when I was just a little kid I respect her views so much on this subject.
I didn't hear her say anything about punishment for "children " who steals dad's gun, and really, just how many accidents has there been? And can you say it is an accident when children are not properly trained and punished? Is it possible that training a child in the way he should go has been banned by law?
I listen and research every thing and until I am satisfied I don't speak on things at all I agree with Judge Judy We need responsibility for securing our guns we need licensing gun safety class and insurance . Just like cars If your not adult enough to do these simple things you are not mature enough to have a gun Period it's harder to get a fishing license than it is to purchase a wepon that can mow down a kinder garden class in 10 seconds also need to limit magazines time after time people say they got away when the shooter had to reload . 10 bullets compared to a hundred bullets can makes a huge difference
I'm guessing she did not feel comfortable having a gun and that's cool.People who don't feel comfortable with them should not have them. But I bet the real reason is the burden and hardship California puts on anyone wanting to have a gun is the real reason.
United States military has stricter regulations on weapon usage, storage and transport than the civilian population, why?? Military bases even in combat zones are regulated by Military Police where soldiers are prohibited from carrying loaded rifles or pistols in living quarters. If you are caught violating rules, you'll get court martial-ed. If Generals don't trust their soldiers with guns everywhere, so why should we allow obese Bob from Texas run around with his M16 because he feels the blue helmets are after him?
I’VE BEEN MEANING TO WATCH THIS SINCE IT CAME OUT AND NOW I CAN AND IT IS GREAT!!!!! Seriously though when I’m not wasting my time on social media, I’m watching Judge Judy and Dr Phil at my grandparents’ house XD
adammatrat lol. I'm saying if a 13 year old girl has a baby....that 13 year old has on average 20 years before she is fully mature. Well before mom is mature and responsible the baby is now classified as an adult. And probably has own babies. So instead of adults raising kids she have teens raising kids. When I was in high school prior to columbine....1 girl in whole school got pregnant. And school shootings were a 3 times a year thing. Now 20% of local high school girls are knocked up and school shootings are almost a 3 time a week deal. I can't wait for 15 years from now when current high school students babies are in high school. Maybe school shooting will be a 3 times a day deal in America by then.
Joe Smith babies having babies isn't the issue. People have been doing that since the beginning of time. Many people in generations past got married at 15/16 and had kids
My mom got pregnant at 14,married at 15..my dad was 17, then went on to have 7 more babies...I couldn't have asked for a better mother...she was a mother to all of us kids friends who didn't have one or had one but not a good one
Jessica LT military service is very difficult. This forces young boys to become men. Very different then a college education. Joining ar 18 and doing a four year service guarantee the right to defend yourself.
James Wagner define men, because many of those men are mentally ill, abusive, and have anger issues. Have you dated a person in the military? Its not all, but it is a large heap of them who get sent to jail after coming home.
I love Judge Judy, to pieces 🥰 would love too meet her someday , On the good side of the law that is .. Judge Judy , is a very classy dresser and a get your mind nice and right Judge😊.. Don’t pee, on my leg and tell me it’s raining 🤪👍🏽
What she says about people seeking out the news that reflects their own views, that is some stone cold truth that people in todays diverse, bipartisan and often chaotic world need to realise.
rakesfunnyfarm Why can’t we vote under 25? Voting harms no one, however, if I can’t rent a car until I’m 25, buy a drink until I’m 21, why be 18 and get a gun? If we raise voting age, raise military age as well then.
Michelle My Belle having the age of going to the military at 18, doesn't make owning a gun at 18 better by default. They both should be raised, but not doing so doesn't mean bringing the other one is good too.
If you can't stop drinking and driving. If you can't stop the drugs. You are for sure not going to stop the guns. Which people have a constitutional right to. Alcohol kills more people then guns do. Where's all the talk.
Lynn Parker . Do you drink alcohol? And do you have a solution. I don't drink I don't have a gun and I don't do drugs. I just answered your question for solution. Do you have a gun?. Do you do drugs even marijuana. All I can do is control myself.
There IS lots of talk about alcohol abuse and drinking and driving...lots of awareness and so on. I think the fines and penalties for drinking and driving should be far more severe than they are (here in Canada anyways)...a friend of mine was killed, along with his 5 and 3 year olds and their 14 year old niece (who was babysitting). Going to that funeral and seeing three coffins, 2 of them tiny, was horrific (all the women wailing there was something that haunts my dreams 20 years later) The more awareness and education the better...not doing anything and just sitting there, 'well, people are going to drink and drive anyway so why bother' also applies to guns. Get parents engaged...have serious conversions about proper firearm use...if you think there's enough, do it twice the amount. Do SOMETHING. ..
Sean Oconnor exactly, I agree alcohol kills a lot of people. You know what, cigarrets and meat are not better, they've been.linked to cancer and many othee diseases, they shouldn't be sold either. Still, that doesn't make guns better by default.
The thing is, in a lot of states you cannot buy a handgun unless you're 21 and the vast majority of gun murders and gun crimes are committed with handguns. You are allowed to purchase a rifle (including the AR-15) at the age of 18 and rifles are used in only a small percentage of gun crimes/murders. So I don't think it's simply an age requirement when the easier to obtain and less restricted rifles are used far less often for crimes/murders than the more difficult to acquire handguns.
Parents have been disconnected from their children. They allow an Xbox or iPad to babysit their children. Allowing them to see and speak to others (violent games and Xbox live adult talk) parents don’t care to engage with their children to see what’s going on with them. I homeschool, I do not allow electronics in my home. My kids see other kids addicted to these devices and look at them like wow these kids are completely disconnected from life. Blame the parents for not knowing what’s up in their child’s life. It’s your right as a parent to pry into their child’s business. Know what’s going on! And don’t feel ashamed or feel like your kid may be mad at you.
Rachelle Brown I wouldn't call it prying because that's almost ridiculous. It's your job to know where your child is, control the influences and educate them morally. But homeschooling is different obviously. Parents act like teenagers are a separate species that want you out of their life. I wanted my parents more involved but even though we spent a lot of time together, we didn't have cell phones or ipads or video games or cable, and they also had Bible studies with us weekly, they never asked about what was going on with me. It isn't the electronics. It's the parenting.
The problems parents can not be parents any more. Same goes for the teachers. It is sad that kids can not be normal kids. One of my kids friend even told me that her kids can not be outside by their self without someone calling the law on them being outside in their own back yard and they are teenagers. I happen to be behind a school bus one afternoon and notice the bus stopped at the next block to let the kids off. I could next believe what i was seeing. Kids who live in town can not walk to or from school.
If you are 17, your parents can sign a waiver allowing you to enlist in the military. After basic training you are assigned 2 things, a unit to serve in and.....a GUN!!!
She says kids should no have access to guns, but 18 is the age of majority. The only way I could ever see raising the gun ownership age to 21 is by raising the age of majority. That includes stripping 18-20 year olds of the right to vote and liability for their own actions, as well as making them ineligible for military service and not requiring them to sign up for the selective service...among other things.
Lost alot of respect. She doesnt even know the legal age to smoke. Then has the audacity to say the age to buy a gun should be higher than 21? Horrible!
Erin Michaels not true. Read the second amendment again. It does not say : anyone can have a gun at any time, regardless of age or criminal record. Nothing in the 2nd amendment restricts the right to restrict access to guns.
JustDismalThinking OnADismalDay ...shall not be infringed, implying unfettered freedom, that is true for ALL freedoms in the US.that was not limited to ONLY the 2nd in terms of gun OWNERSHIP...it includes the rights of those who wish to have gun free zones. Just sayin'
Anyone is smarter than Trump at this point. So that's not really saying much. Though Judge Judy for president doesn't sound too shabby an idea. Count me in.
