The best sentencing was watching him correct the mother of N. Rowland (see SC v. Rowland). After watching that case, gavel to gavel, I could see why he is the kind of judge he is. Such a dark case and that mother at the end was a sad display of naïveté. Newman was firm and knew that the young man was guilty and the mother was loony!!!

@@Beltfedshooters Not sure but I think it has to do with what the charge is, some charges are different from others and carry different sentencing, that's what I think.

How long will he serve tho is it 3 quarters or half?

@@marcust123 In federal court you will have to serve 85% of your sentence if convicted of federal charges. However, for most state felony convictions, you will only serve 50% of your actual sentence.

SCOTUS appointments don’t have age/ time limitations. Furthermore, at-large judges rarely have a shot on the highest court in the U.S. unfortunately, .I think both are great-Thomas & Newman. I’ve actually met Newman at a USC football game. He’s just as friendly in person as he is on the bench.

Yeah , I suspect it's borne of a life of intergenerational privilege and conceit. This is probably leavened with some psycopathy. I'm Australian and I marvel how your justice system doesn't muck around when it comes to sentencing. Over here he'd be out in 12 years max.

The judge also talked about mercy and you might benefit from thinking about that. Vengeance is not a positive trait and it reflects character.

@@garymitchell5899 Judge Newman gave him no leniency. His sentence of 24 years is a longtime! His crime was evil and he was sentenced appropriately. Judge Newman acted justly. He is very good.
