Judge to decide whether teen should be tried as adult after being accused of assaulting therapist 

He should be tried as an adult and not a juvenile he shouldn’t get away with this just because he’s 16 years old no excuses!!!!

I can't believe a detention center didn't have some type of panic button in almost every room. He absolutely should be tried as an adult & sentenced to an extreme, clearly juvenile detention & therapy wasn't doing much to reform this kid.

I can't believe they left her alone In a locked room with a criminal, the county should place some responsibility on the detention center for putting her in danger.

Heartbreaking what she went through, and other victims go through in these types of crimes. Lock him up many years. She won't have justice without him serving at least 20 years in prison. I hope that she gets a lot of love and support.

For me it was the removal of the batteries of the radio. That is the one action that tells me he was well aware of what he was doing.

Try him as an adult. There are some acts that once you do it you cross that line from child to adult as they are just that heinous. Rape and murder are among them. He has taken his youth for granted, thinking he’ll always get a slap on a wrist. He was already in Juvenile detention, he can’t go back there. Usually, I’m not the first to want to throw kids in adult lockup as easy prey, but he took this woman’s life from her. The punishment needs to convey the severity of the crime.

The justice system needs to start getting stern. The dam is nearly full over the years of lenient courts. The last thing anyone wants is vigilantes coming out and getting glorified. Society is trending in that direction.

Tried as an adult no excuses because these teens know what they are doing and are intentionally committing these violent crimes. His wife didn’t have to help him and she did. Instead of being grateful he committed heinous and savage crimes against her. His actions were premeditated too. He deserves the maximum. He’s beyond redemption. I’m praying for her and for healing. I’m so sad for her.

I feel for this couple. It sounds like his wife wanted to help so badly! MAN, I've dealt with kids and young men like her attacker. You CAN'T let your guard down for an instant b/c you don't know what they're thinking or planning. A professional counselor with whom I worked was savagely attacked by a patient. I wasn't present at the time. When I saw my colleague, he had hand prints around his neck and bruises on his face! The patient had previously attacked other staff and patients. Charges were pressed. However, the guy would simply be released weeks later (i.e. from jail or psych facility). We would see him walking down the street. I personally, don't think much will happen to this kid; maybe a couple of years in juvie, then a brief jail sentence. He'll be out within five years or so. Such is the system in which we live. There should have been a guard by the door. I hope she finds inner peace someday.😔❤️🤲🏽🙏🏽

It is not wise for a woman to be a therapist to a male at any point, ever. Yes, he's a minor, but a 16 year old male can overpower most women, this risk is not worth it. I am sorry this happened to Mrs. Haak. Turn over this misfit to the woman's husband in order for true justice to be served.

They should probably have female therapists treat female patients, and male therapists treat male patients, because unfortunately if someone is already mentally ill, there is even greater risk of this occurring. I know it sounds old fashion but many of those old fashioned rules are for a reason.

This is why I always say a book doesn't teach a therapist how to rehabilitate people there are people who have actually gone through this stuff before that could help these kids it's nice to have a good heart but it takes more I have spent so many years of my life telling people the things I've experienced throughout my life. The things I've seen my kids experience and was told I needed medication . These kids today are dealing with a lot and it's highly possible there is so much more to this story
