For me, I would’ve liked the movie more if the actors had more screen time with Emma. If they’re not going to show the chemistry with Emma and Allysa, the might as well develop their chemistry with her. Only Barry had a chemistry with Emma, but they only dedicated very little screen time on that.

I COMPLETELY agree. I LOVE Ben with all my heart (honestly SO much) but I’m sorry he’s too old for it (especially in a movie. I feel like you can get away with it on stage a bit more) but I would’ve really loved to see someone closer to the actual age (like Andrew) play Evan. It just feels like a little bit of an injustice to the story tbh, it’s meant to be about a teenage boys struggle with social anxiety and feeling suicidal etc. And having Evan be played by someone who’s almost 30 just doesn’t seem as personal somehow?

I totally agree! Andrew should be Evan in the movie, I'm not saying Ben is bad HE'S WONDERFUL but he isn't fit for the role anymore. We've already seen Ben in this situation, when he was in the politician's first season Payton didn't look like a high-schooler, we couldn't sympathize that much with him because he didn't look that age. Imagine in Evan Hansen, the storyline is a rollercoaster of emotions all centered in a high school kid. It'll be nearly impossible for the people who watch the movie to sympathize with the things he makes up, becasue he looks like an adult, even making Evan the bad guy. If Andrew is in the movie it is totally believable and it's easier to sympathize with his situation. Well, that's just my opinion!

I may be misinterpreting the show but I feel like the whole point of Wicked is to say that no one is really truly wicked, just flawed. And saying that Glinda is wicked is kind of missing the whole point of the show. But I could be wrong, I haven’t listened to Wicked in an ungodly amount of time

I love how Glinda truly feels like a real, grounded person by the end of the show. She really develops into a well-rounded person who has made both good and bad decisions in her life, and who knows how to make the hard choices and what their consequences are

As someone who can’t fucking stand DEH (I literally only liked For Forever, You Will Be Found, To Break In A Glove, Words Fail and So Big/So Small. Every other song was just the fucking same.), and as someone with social anxiety, I agree. They had a perfect chance for the ending, maybe Zoe could yell at Evan, unable to forgive him. But nope! ‘We needed your lies, so it’s fine!’ What THE HELL?! It makes me wonder how the fuck this show win the Tony’s... And I can agree, social anxiety is hard. But I’m sure 99% percent of us would NOT LIE AND USE SOMEONE’S DEATH FOR CLOUT!!! It just...doesn’t work like that! It’s not good either, especially for those with mental illnesses that are impressionable and thinks that how they should act. Won’t say anything else, other than as someone with autism and social anxiety, I find Dear Evan Hansen to be extremely offensive.

From what I know, the Broadway recording isn't liked.

This is definitely not unpopular in the BMC community. Everyone (including me) prefer Two Rivers to Broadway. The only good things from Broadway for me were Will R (as a actor and a person. I love him so much.), Tiffany Mann, and LGW. (Also George but he was in the original so I didn't count him)

Completely agree with this but the evan hansen one, people starting to like Connor after death was part of the plot because when someone does commit suicide or die everyone else acts like they were friends with them and loved them (they do something similar in Heather's). Zoe also says that when she went back to school everyone was being nice to her cause, "she's the dead kids sister". This kinda stuff does happen in real life but nobody talks about it or calls people out for it.

Six's script actually got some edits that I felt weakened it Like having Parr being forced to speak up instead of shutting down the fighting herself, and Jane's part becoming... it seems kind of ad-libbed? Like I saw 2 versions of the script after "What a stressful situation that never happened" was removed, and the lines were pretty different and in one of them they actually repeated a joke in an awkward way in its place. And then there's taking a lot of fun out of the IDNYL reveal and making it a lot more "We are saying what is happening. This is humor."

The six script is actually pretty different now than the bootleg that’s around (the one with the OG 6) when it properly came to the west it got updated. I’d imagine the Broadway version will be updated too. I just imagine they’ll do yearly or biannual updates like with Mean Girls getting a new update

get ready for my life story: the first broadway musical i got into was wicked because my mam took me to see it when it did a uk tour as i was studying defying gravity for my gcse music. i fell in love with it and i’d been to see PLENTY of shows before but not of that character or of the BEAUTY of that show. so then, i started listening to it non-stop *hahaha hamilton pun*. the year after i saw wicked, hamilton was on the royal variety show. i LOVED alexander hamilton so decided to listen to the cast album and i fell in love with it. i listened to it over and over and over for about 5 months and i wouldn’t listen to anything else. then, i started liking bring it on and carrie and mean girls and dear evan hansen and six etc etc. just last year or the year before, i started liking in the heights. now, as much as i love hamilton, i’d rather put in the heights on as i think i overplayed hamilton and there’s not much more i can get out of it. you’re welcome for that unnecessarily long comment :)

It was the person who played Aaron originally (not Kyle Selig but some other guy... I forgot his name). He is/was very anti-LGTBQ+ and it made much of the cast very upset; especially Grey. Edit: His name is Cameron Dallas and he actually did not originate the role of Arron (Kyle did) but he was casted as a stunt and everyone hated him so he was only there for like a week.

I did wonder if the person who's opinion got read out had actually seen the show in person. Saw the show in Toronto 3 times and loved it EVERY time. Sure there are parts I like more than others, but it's still on of the best shows I've seen, and above all else, a beautiful story of human kindness

I haven't seen many people hate on Presley. The Beetlejuice fans I've seen love her commitment to the character and show, which is something they never felt for Sophie. And Great Comet is not underrated IMO. It's impossible for it to be underrated when you people never shut up about its unfair treatment.

I agree with bmc, i don’t see why people hate on the Broadway version. i don’t have much knowledge of the show, but when i heard people were hating on the Broadway version I was a bit confused. I had listened to both versions and honestly preferred the Broadway one better.. but that’s just me :)

I think once you know the storyline and understand what’s happening, it makes a lot more sense. Although, even if you still don’t like the music, I would still recommend the movie because it’s really good.

I don’t really know as I feel it makes Javert seem more weirdly obsessed with Valjean for the whole period of time before the revolution as opposed to just happening to see him again later and pledging to hunt him down, but I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad change.

Number 1: Why for so many people does there have to be a best one (i mean fair enough if you actually like one more than another then thats cool) but feel like people feel like they need to choose one person above all the others and its a competition. @@e.c9770 I think what they're trying to say is Hadestown is very innovative. In some countries the word wicked means very. Or they were trying to say Hadestown is as innovative as Wicked was when it debuted While I disagree that Hadestown is classical musical theatre, I do think fans overuse the words over/underrated. We need to recognise that just we don't like something doesn't mean that everyone is wrong for liking it. IMO any musical that wins the Tony for best musical isn't underrated, but people perceive it as such because it's not everyone's all time favourite. A lot of this comes from people's tendency to be very hyperbolic on the internet. It can lead to very stale opinions because all every one talks about is not liking the new popular musical or calling a very popular musical under hyped because it's not everyone's fave. I would love for conversations to move past this.

What meant with Hamilton being innovative/inventive is how, not only the extructure of the show seems to be meticulously though, but also i rarely see a Musical with the soundtrack that people that doesn't even like musicals could listen casually(as someone who have been a fan of musicals for less than 4 years, i can tell how much songs i used to skip when trying to make a playlist) Normally we see people that doesn't like or aren't used to musicals listening 2 or 3 songs, but not the entire musical. The hip-hop being not only refered but also present into the entire musical, was new, and this is why i understand how the Hamilton got so popular(this and the massive market campaign...) Phantom was famous for being BIG and expensive(also for making a more of a sexual/romantic version of Eric) Wicked for bringing a new look for a very famous story, and making a villain a misunderstood figure(this is common today, but at the time it was something new) Cats for being weird and for not having a storyline Being expensive or popular doesn't always equals good, that's why i'm happy with the sucess of musicals like Six, even if the storyline isn't nothing new(we have seen a lot of musicals using historical facts as a base), the format is(doesn't matter if everyone likes it or not, we can't denial how it opens new possibilities of how to make a musical) What i meamt with Hadestown being traditional/classic is how it is more of the musical formula, the extructure is the traditional for a musical, but the way they use a greek myth but place it in more recent days is of course something new. What made me a fan of Hadestown was the Greek Mythology and how they made the characters be exactly how i would've though them to the present days I have always loved Persephone, and this version is more of a modern look in what the whole kidnapping/manipulation and love/hate realationship would have resulted A lot of medias fails to represent how troubled Hades and Persephone's relationship would be, making her purely loving and vulnerable, but this sassy, and caring version seems more cottect Same with Eurydice, the show gave her the personality we can't see in the actal myth, she isn't purely passive in her situation. I love how strong the females characters that are very passive and vulnerable in the are in the show without being OOC comparing with the myth ❤️

100% agree with the fourth one. but for the first two, with beetlejuice I dont get it as i am a huge music al theatre fan and i only heard of it for the first time two weeks ago. but maybe that's because am Australian and we dont get many shows one of which being beetlejuice. despite it being written by an aussie we didn't get a national tour, which makes me sad. as for SIX i'm respectfully disagreeing , but some shows aren't for everyone so yah, have a nice day/night
