This is super interesting to see how your judo throws have translated over to no-gi. They all look quite natural and effortless. Thanks for sharing Dom!
Yep. If you're actually good at Judo, no-gi only needs a period of transition. It's just that the gangsta culture of bjj and mma is too disrespectful and impatient, which has usually driven away Judokas trained in a culture of ethics and respect.
Love that you show the moments that don’t necessarily go your way. There aren’t many (if any) Jiu Jitsu guys that do that. You’re playing to learn/experiment and not to just not lose. Great content man!
The failures are almost more important than the successes! Analyzing and fixing mistakes is how you improve, and I want to convey that philosophy in my content.
Maaaaaan, some good stuff in here. Loving how you re-attack when defending single legs. Lots of crackdown type scenarios going on, that you capitalize with during defense to re attack. Feeling validated watching you shelf legs with both arms to recover in scrambles and come out on top. Definitely something I’m glad I’m using in my game seeing you do it too. Some crazy scrambles here. You’re definitely a huge problem to not just take down, but keep down. And trying to keep you down just allows your natural mat wrestling to take over.
Love that you post a variety and not just technique videos. Don't get me wrong, I love the technique videos. But watching drills and rolling can be just as educational, and gives a better understanding of aspects like timing and chaining. Would also appreciate any games you might play that help keep recreational students engaged while also developing solid skill acquisition.
The Judo wrestle really putting heat on these Jiu-jitsu wrestlers. Just goes to show that you can't just focus on mat wrestling; you gotta work on your takedowns and top control too.
I have done Judo for around 5 years but honestly when it comes to Jiu-Jitsu I am like white belt. Constantly being scared of getting level change to double or single etc and likewise or let’s say it’s worse case in No Gi:( I am so happy to find this video. I am enjoying the nutritious ingredients from what you showed. Thank you so much! OSS !
i wanted to start some grappling, especially with judo + bjj. can someone tell me how i know if its a good place to train? In karate, Muay Thai or Boxing i can easily tell, due to my long striking background. but in terms of grappling, judo, bjjj or sambo i have no comparison
Probably the front neck lock/guillotine. Look at how most of dudes takedowns came from sprawls. A wrestler will usually give u the neck when they shoot. U just gotta sprawl🤷🏾♂️💯
just judo? you look really experienced at wrestling and no-gi. I would have assumed that judo players wouldn't be used to defending shots since I thought grabbing the legs is illegal in judo. also you seem very used to no-gi wrestling tie-ups whereas in judo or gi standup I'd assume you'd only go for sleave and collar/lapel grips.
