I like Juggernaught's goofy helmet, it's like he just grabbed a vault door, pulled off a hunk and bent it into shape. smooshing the parts together aggressively with enough force to weld it.
In the comics when he lost it after a fight, he shaped a huge chunk of metal using some of the residual powers from Cytorak to shape the metal as he crushes it down
What you didn't mention is that Cyttorak required Juggernaut to destroy constantly. The longer Juggernaut goes without destroying something, the weaker he gets. If he were to go long enough without causing devastation, Cyttorak would take away his status as avatar entirely.
Probably didn't mention it because it has never been part of his lore. Unless it's some nonsense they made up in the last few years. But the standards at Marvel have fallen like a rock over the last decade. So it wouldn't shock me.
@@IamVendel thats basically the state he was in when world breaker hulk ce back to earth he eventually got his powers back just to fight hulk to a standstill
I remember I used to think he was a mutant whose ability was infinite momentum. Which is admittedly cooler in my opinion, and not technically wrong, since his powers are described as "Once he starts moving, he can't be stopped." He's an underappreciated character and a staple in Marvel comics. .
I dunno, I think it works better that his powers come from magic. Marvel got really weird with the kinds of powers characters could develop through mutation. Fast healing? Fine. Telepathy? Fine. Growing bird wings or devolving into a blue furred ape creature or a human with reptilian characteristics? Ok. Laser eyes? Eh. Magnetism? Eh. Weather control? Eh. Charging items with explosive force? Huh? In order for a mutation to give a human an evolutionary advantage the genes for the mutation need to already exist, and then find conditions that favor them in an evolutionary way. There was never a gene for laser eyes, and in fact that trait would make you less survivable from an evolutionary standpoint as you can't pass on your genes easily. The same would be true for "infinite momentum" as you would crush or tear apart any sexual partners you interact with. I know powers are picked mainly for their "cool factor" and comics are all fantasy anyway, but the kinds of things Marvel attributes to mutation are often just silly. It is better to have a magical reason for people to gain powers like interaction with an Infinity Stone or something because then you don't really to explain it.
I do believe since Juggernaut's powers is mystical when he fully embraces it he can do practically anything. There has been other Juggernauts out there and they've done other special things too which means the power can go way beyond just being super strong and durable.
Juggernaut got all his powers from Magic. There is a reason why in the movie it was wrong that he could be held captive with the same tech than mutants were held down with. Juggernaut should have been immune to this because his powers came from magic.
My head cannon disagrees. My theory is that Vinnie Jones exists in their universe and just happens to be a mutant with super strength. The real jugganaut pays him in stout and jellied eels to take the fall.

Juggernaut is in many ways like a mystically powered Hulk. Juggernaut is a living avatar of Cyttorak, a Demon Lord of Destruction and Chaos, and much like Hulk he gets stronger as his rage increases (thus creating more chaos and destruction to feed Cyttorak). Unfortunately for the Demon Lord, and fortunately for Humanity, Cain Marko is a pretty laid back guy and tends to resist the chaos that the power usually evokes. That's good for Cain too, as while theoretically the Juggernaut is immortal the more the Avatar gives into the Chaos the more they burn themselves out or becomes just mindless killing machines
@@FerretJohnnot at all, the Hulk is a creation of the one below all, the devil of the marvel multiverse, his powers are not scientific at all. You re factually wrong pal.
Actually I think Jug is one of those characters that no longer defined by his powers. Cain Marko the person behind Jug has grown way past of being a incredibly powerful but an angry stupid brute. He has seen plenty of hardship and has reformed to be a hero more than once. He has completely lost his powers and was scorned by Cyttorak more than once, he suffered humiliation and even torture at the hands of Cytorrak and others. At one of his lowest points when he was powerless, battered, broken and in hospital and needed help the most, even then his own brother Xavier didn't want to help him anymore. Yet even after that when he had nothing left, no powers, no family he realized the error of his ways and yet still did not give up he believed that he must try to right the wrong he had done and do what he could.
Am I crazy or did Onslaught not completely trash him? I remember as a kid, onslaught just plucking the gem out and professor x's part of onslaught taking great glee in it
@@hansolo631 You might correct. As far as I could find there were 2 major events when Jug and Onslaught faced off. (could be more but I couldn't find more) First time it was Uncanny X-Men (1963) #322 when Onslaught was first introduced as a character. The comic showed That Jug's body was "hurled" from Canada to New Jersey. It is unspecified if it was a punch or some other method. Jug was KO'd for a short while, he recovered in a shortly but the story mentions Jug was still weakened because Beast, Bishop and Psylocke managed to almost KO Jug again and otherwise Jug would barely feel their attack. Jug accepted defeat as he was terrified of Onslaught and warned everyone about the danger. Second time was X-Men (1991) Issue #54. In this scene Cain Marko was called by Jean to find out Onslaught's true identity because it was hidden in his mind. Note that Jug wasn't wearing his helmet in this entire comic to allow Jean to enter his mind. Just at the moment they find out it was Xavier Onslaught awakens or possibly just reveals himself from hiding. Jean tells Jug that he is in grave danger and needs to run. Jug however on the way out Cain decided to help his brother but the Xavier Mansion rooms and stairs seems to being to warp around him, we do not know if this was psychic attack or reality warping. Jug goes to Xavier's room saying that he is sorry for everything he had done and he wants to save Xavier but only find Xavier's room trashed and Xavier gone. Then Onsalught's hand grabs Jug from behind and holds him up taunting him that he can't kill Jug as long as he has the gem of Cyttorak and so Onslaught uses his power to rip the gem out of Cain Marko, Marko was visibly in great pain in the process and then Onslaught simply dropped Marko's body body to the ground who was still alive but still in pain and the comic ends there. It is not shown what happened to the gem nor Cain Marko afterwards. After Onslaught gets defeated there is a lot reality warping happen that returns the devastated world back to normal so we can only speculate that Jug was also returned to normal after that. That is all I could find.
Yea I remember those. I think the second one was drawn by Joe Maduira because I remember Jean looking really anime-sexy. I also think having him be defeated by Onslaught so easily is a bit of a jobbernaught showing, but maybe Onslaught is alot more powerful than I think he was@@ProtonCannon
@@hansolo631 Yeah ,it was a jobbernaut role. If we really must speculate then think there might be something with the detail that Cain Marko and Charles Xavier are half-brothers. Maybe that had a role to play in it Or that Jug knew that psionic/psychic attacks are his greatest weakness and he faced this overpowering otherworldly horror that was a purely psychic entity which clearly terrified Jug. This is why I usually consider that superpowers are not just basic math like 1 + 1 = 2 It is better to have many nuance to them, characters have weaknesses and strengths there are plot circumstances and so on. This is why comics need good writing.
He wears the helmet because it block psychic attacks which would be his only vulnerability. It was designed by his partner Black Tom Cassidy who is a mutant and cousin to Banshee aka Sean Cassidy and Sean's daughter Theresa Cassidy aka Syrin who's mutant powers are just like her father Banshee.
I was going to say this about the helmet, but since you already did I will just add that it's worth noting that Juggernaut is Professor Xavier's step-brother. In case anyone is thinking his helmet just randomly has that property.
I'm quite surprised Marvel Comics never explored the other Exemplars that Juggernaut is related to, such as Bedlam, Carnivore, Inferno, Tempest, Stonecutter, Conquest, and Decay.

How can you forget DR Strange favorite spell is the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, Juggernaut and other magical beings channel this guy's power to cast spells that's how powerful Cyttorak is. Since the 7 gods were to powerful, they would destroy earth possibly the whole dimension.
I’m really hoping that they have an arc in the MCU dedicated to the 7 gems and the battle that comes from them. Would make a great saga IMO. Hell, we don’t know any details about the Mutant Saga for phase 7 and onwards. Maybe that’s what they’ll go for! (Very unlikely, but I can hope lol)

I first saw Juggernaut in Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. It was the episode when Ice Man and Firestar who are mutants went with Spidey to see the X-Men. Juggernaut who had the 80s Hulk growl attacked them all. The only way they defeated him was Spidey removing his helmet and Professor X stunning his mind and body. Juggernaut has since made a skullcap to wear under his helmet to protect his mind. He’s one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe.

He was eventually made an honorary member but I remember a few episodes where he was sad he couldn’t join the club 😂 That was a great story arc that I’ve never seen since!
No, the juggernaut is not a mutant when he first came to comics he was what they called an altered human, which means he has a human being, but he found a job at the gym with sitter rack, and that transformed him into the juggernaut
Very nicely done! A well spoken, detailed explanation, delivered with a smooth buttery voice. I don't find that often, when I look for comic origin videos. Lovely! ♥
This dude's physical presence is broken. It never ceases to amaze me as some of the most massive Marvel characters dwarf next to the Juggernaut time and time again.
You constantly showed clips of him fighting Colossus and mentioned that Cyttorak can simply decide to withdraw the powers from the host. Could've mentioned the instance in which Colossus became his avatar. Quite possibly the strongest version of the Juggernault (even if not the one shown performing the craziest feats, but it would have all those same capabilities added to Colossus' existing ones)
It's kind of silly because classic Juggernaut was already invulnerable and could call upon limitless strength. So Colossus's powers add nothing to that except window dressing. Like the video said, you can't get stronger than infinity...
Juggernaut doesn’t get enough spotlight today. He needs his own movie. To introduce him into the xmen film series like how the xmen made a silent cameo in Deadpool 2 so we understood what universe Deadpool was in.
Cain Marko may be human but he is deeply connected with mutants for most of his life, like his stepbro, his best friend, and the kids he's cared for like Squidboy and Zola... all that plus he's currently a citizen of Krakoa.
Currently Originally the only one he listened to was Black Tom Cassidy, he tried to kill pretty much everyone else he came in contact with Never did like when they tried to soften villains

Basically Juggernaut is Hulk in permanant mode. But in the power wise he is weak against hulk. To make juggernaut almost invincible, you have to put him in the hulk buster suit made by iron man. The design itself of hulk buster is heavily inspired by juggernaut, stan lee himself has mentioned it. So in some other multiverse if the juggernaut is actually a good character aka a hero and if he gets enhancement from iron man, this dude can become a seriously a very very strong and powerful character in marvel universe!

Can't really remember the back story, but it has something to do with a gemstone. Juggy is what is known as an "altered" human. No he isn't a mutant. This was a great point of contention between me and my wife when Juggy's power was cancelled out by Leech. Leech can only cancel out mutant (genetic) powers, Leech cannot cancel alter humans like Capt America, Winter Soldier, Spidey, etc.
@@aries666dc actually it's a fair comparison. Nimrod is just advanced tech. Juggernaut is magically powered. He shouldn't have been neutralized so easily.
He is probably one of my most favorited characters in marvel next to wolverine and carnage. Ive always said give him an inch and he’ll take it a mile, now i know thats not even half of it is amazing. Im in love with deadpool 2 take of him compared to last stand lookin like a wet noodle standin next to him. But to be frank, he’s one of those characters that all depends on the writer on how he thinks, acts, or powers he has at any given time.
So, in short: “Juggernaut” is the title given to the avatar of Cyttorak, who happens to be Cain Marko, step-brother of the famous Pr. Xavier. Cain simply was a muscular bully and a deserter, and Cyttorak bestowed said bully physical invincibility in the form of two impenetrable shields (a physical armor and a magical aura skin), full resilience of his metabolism (no need for sleep, no starvation, no thirst, infinite stamina) and kinetic generation (nothing can hurt him when he's static, nothing can stop him when he's moving). Very often, Marko is given the added bonus of super strength, and depending on the authors, he can be slightly bigger than your average man or literally towering the giants of the universe. As weaknesses go, they're straigthforward: Cyttorak can revoke his blessing on Cain at any point without any reason (turning him into a really muscular but very normal man, strength-wise) and no amount of magic can fix a weak mind like Marko's, so… you're not gonna see him pay his taxes any time soon. Also, despite this video claiming he's immortal, from what I got, he's not. Marko's aging process is slowed down to a degree reminiscent of Wolverine's healing factor but in actuality, the magic shield is simply adjusting its output to have him age as normally as any human being. So, unlike Logan, Marko is still lucky enough to know he's gonna kick the bucket and retire some day. It's a bit sad that Marko's best use cases in comics are with him being the villain (he's a pitiful hero) with his sole motivation being revenge on the Professor. If he was more average he could be relatable as an embodiment of revenge, but with Marko's permanent six pack and perfect shapes, it's a very, very hard sale narratively. [EDIT] Thank you for the correction, @animefanatic787, I didn't notice that typo.
Thanks for the tldr explanation, however one small correction it's spelled kinetic not cynetic, not trying to be a douche,I was just stumped for a moment because of the misspelling
The force field can be generated at will and allows Juggernaut to not even be touched if wanted. However, is invulnerability does not come from it, his skin, body etc is indestructible without the focefield (as is his armor sans the helmet). I think once he was banished to Eternity "major cosmic entity" and even it was unable to kill Juggs.
One of the movies, the one with the mutant that superseded other mutants powers was the McGuffin, juggernaut is rendered unconscious when he headbutts a wall close to the McGuffin.
@@ComicBookGuy420 because the studio and/or writers probably thought it would be to obscure or silly… despite it being a movie that involves one guy who is covered in blue fur as a senator, another guy who can cover himself in quills like a porcupine, etc. A kid with green skin? When I watched juggernaut punch gladiator in the chest back in the early 90's as a kid on the animated TV series. And gladiator just tossed him across the ocean. if juggernaut's son inherited his powers, does that mean that the gem physically altered his genes to become a mutant so that those genes can be inherited by his offsprings?
If i remember correctly one time he actually gave up Half of his power to his brother who absolutely HATED the power and when he gave the power up it went back into the gem ... Kain had to touch the gem again to regain the other half of the power..
Yup, being the Avatar and embued with the all the power and strength of an Eldritch Terror-esque, Lovecraftian Elder God in physical form, I'd guess you'd be strong. I mean, this guy is basically the physical embodiment of strength of Cthulhu lmfao. I love Juggernaught
Heh. I don't follow comics, but from your description, I can see what his strategy was with the concrete. He couldn't escape it while it was still in a liquid state, but once it hardened he would be able to shatter it. So, the way to stop him for good is to suspend him in high-viscosity gelatin and prevent it from hardening.
@@safaricalamari7613 Yeah, that's a good point. He may be just about invincible, but the helmet isn't. Hulk's healing factor is increased the angrier he gets. His rage is a multiplier to his strength as well. Jugg is a puppet of Cyttorak and his gem that fuels his power and regen. Hulk is an immortal rage monster of the One Below All. Arguably stronger than Cyttorak. Even if it all came down to the writing, Hulk, by his own definition, is the strongest there is. Juggernaut is still a force to be reckoned with, if not more annoying to deal with. Bruce banner is fragile, but Hulk will always prevent him from dying. A fight between the two would lean more towards The Hulk, but We wouldn't be mad if they technically was each other's perfect match in an endless fight.
Hulk was literally written to be SUperman. It's so lame. There's way too many version of him that just one up any legit competition. Fairly new to comics myself but having heard the information in this video I can't help but wonder if Juggernaut beats Superman 1v1. If his only real weakness is mental attacks and that isn't really something Supes is known for. But if both of them have near infinite potential limits. It seems that Superman would have to kill him with 1 move/blow. Which I guess in theory would be possible since Superman could just fly him into space and throw in into a black-hole?
