Two seniors at my sxhool have been playing this under the stairs and ir echoes all the way up to tge fourth floor, it's the best thing. Stairwells, who would've known,
Am I the only one thought that it was cute and made it more enjoyable to see her laughing at the beginning? They obviously have chemistry... which I feel made the performance seem more even more emotionally real
This is SO annoying when you play a duet with someone of the opposite sex you like and everybody starts thinking you are dating this person because you smile when you look at him/her during the concert
She really has no choice. My mother played violin till shortly before her passing. She always told me that violinists that keep their chins on the chin brace don’t like to move their heads independently from the violin because it makes it harder to play. Watch players of Baroque violins, which are on the shoulder away from the face. You’ll find tons more expression
Fsociety 101 It's a kid so he's probably playing it for not that long but sure they are not asking from him to be that expressive nor they demand perfect technique from kids.
This is like...the best duet for this piece ever. They literally emphasized every part of the piece the way I personally would want to hear it, based on the first time I originally heard a recording of it. The tempo pushing especially at the end, and the prolonged hesitation between phrases (that were perfect because of their chemistry), I mean damnnnnnnn
Such beauty. Definitely one of my favorite duets; Violin and Cello are two instruments that really compliment each other. It is like a lovely chat between two lovers.
I played this a long time ago for a masterclass before going to college. All I can remember was how ridiculously hard it was. Makes me want to pick up my cello again. This Performance was awesome!!
Perhaps they were violists ;) (I'm a violist, and even though Halvorsen wrote this passacaglia originally for violin + viola, I think it sounds very nice using a cello alongside violin)
@@gcslksd hahhaha :DD you made my day bro. Thank you so much. I know. my english isn't good. I'm doing so much mistake. This is one of from them too. I sill laughing at your comment. You wrote only "them" :DDD Thanks again.
Ive played cello for 8 years now and holy shit this is the hardest song I've ever come across for cello, not because its fast notes or intense rhythms just it's all over the place all at once and making you stay composed while doing so
For those of you saying this performance had no emotion, you have to realize how INCREDIBLY difficult playing this is. This is probably one of the most complicated duets, and emotions follow getting the music and notes down correctly. Unless you have played Passacaglia and understand the amount of concentration it requires to make the piece amazing, which they did a great job doing, please don't judge their lack of emotion.
I do wish that contributors would stop proclaiming who is or is not the best performance! There is only competent and incompetent. By competent I mean: technically perfect and emotionally satisfying for the listener. Does this performance satisfy me? Oh! yes.
Handel-Halvorsen created a beautiful piece that requires great technique and what's amazing is how these two gifted musicians are playing his creation. Julia provides great emotion and while Daniel delivers flawless interpretation and aggressiveness. They are both are honorary players in the music world and we should appreciate them for giving us the opportunity to hear them play.
WHAAAAAAAAATT??? WHY CANT SHE LAUGH? WHO ARE YOU TO SAY THATS UNPROFESSIONAL. ITS THEIR PERSONAL MATTER. WHY DO U HAVE TO READ SO MUCH INTO THINGS?! WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM
I love everything about this performance of this piece. I love that it's with cello, not viola. I love the tempo. I love the rubato. I love their chemistry. I love the sound of Daniel plucking his strings. I love their tuning. I fucking love when you can see the sweat drip onto the cello. God this is amazing every time I hear it.
RafaellGean While impressive (very, very impressive), I still prefer this Fischer+Muller-Schott recording. While the one you linked may be better in a few regards, for my own personal taste, this one here is still overall much better. I feel more passion emanating from Daniel and Julia. And you can't really fault the kid for that, he's a bit young to experience or emote the same level of emotions/passion, although you can tell he's already much advanced past most children his age.
This version with cello is simply superb...but I like the original version with viola as well...it's really difficult to decide which one sounds better! What do you think of Perlman-Zukerman version?
5.48 - As if the all the passion in the Universe is being channeled into that moment. Breathtaking. It is puzzling how the audience did not leap to their feet at the end as this performance is beyond exceptional.
Halvorsen arranged it from Handel's Harpsichord Suite in G minor (HWV 432) and I think he firstly wrote it for violin and viola....but I find the version for violin and cello so beautiful as well....
I play violin but I’ve always wanted to play cello because then I could play violin and cello. Plus, EVERYONE plays violin. I love the sounds of the violin and cello together
I watched first hauser version after that perlman and finally this one i will have wonderful sleep 😬 By the way i Am not comparing the performances because i had enjoy from all versions😀
I liked Perlman and Zuckerman's performance more. Although both Fischer and Muller-Schott played beautifully and are very talented, the piece could have been played with more spicatto and much more slowly, as the speed take a lot out of the piece.
AMAZING!! That's the best of anything I've heard! True gift from God with a lifetime of practice!! Almost 100% of violinist and cellists couldn't touch this piece!
You are right...they are all great musicians! Each duo gives a personal intepretation of the piece and obviously each performance is unique and sounds different from the others but they are all beautiful!!!
The violinist sitting by the back of the orchestra (maybe first violin?) moving her fingers silently along with the music--I enjoy seeing that. The violin section is focusing so very intensely on Julia's playing.
I think Fischer and Perlman are not comparable. Fischer plays (here) very strained and stressed to get all notes. Perlman is way funnier and laxier. Just compare the run at 5:32 to Perlman'n performance...
It sounds really ridiculous. This isn't a competition neither sounds like - this is their interpretation and they play it beautifully! Although I think Fischer is in higher level than Daniel Muller...They are VERY musical and great musicians.
I'm ashamed to admit to only having heard the Perlman/Zuckerman version with the viola, although it certainly made due in it's brilliance, the verocity and spirit of this interpretation really sets my soul on fire. Bravo👏🏻
I listened to the original version for harpsichord...you were right...it's good too! But I still prefer the arrangement for violin and viola or cello...what about you?
10 years ago...but I feel, I need to answer. I like both and you cannot compare. Ist Äpfel mit Birnen verglichen. Klingt beides wunderschön! Je nach Geschmack und Stimmung wirst Du eine andere Antwort erhalten.
Why does the audience look so miserable?! That's what's killing classical music. Audiences treat it like it's something to look at quietly in a museum.
