Loved watching your show as a child... I was a avid plane spotter and a boy scout in the air scouts.. this show blew my mind... lying on my back in the garden watching the very airlines and aircraft you featured in your show through my binoculars as thet cruised over Ireland to the USA... thank you ...
Loved this series when I first saw it in 1991. Now I enjoy watching it again for the nostalgia. I wish documentaries were still made like this gem. Thank you Julian for taking us along for the journey!

I just stumbled across this while looking for episode #7 - I can't thank you enough for what this series made me into, and for the historical detail that is unparalleled to this day. Diamonds in the sky guided me further into an industry that I love, live for and obsess over. I watched this series in the USA during the first runs back in the very early 80s, and it has stayed with me for the entire run of my life with fond memories. Thank you for giving a detailed & accurate look of how our airline industry has grown, changed & become, and a snapshot of what it was in 1979.

I am just so jealous on how wide the seats are back then in coach, and they got unlimited drinks, as well as a two course meal. Now on United's Chicago to Honolulu flight, they don't even get a free meal anymore.
14:49 "Hopefully, Mozart can persuade the caller to hang on." That single narration line has helped me find out the title of that specific track. I've been looking for it forever because it's so common. Even my daughter's toy radio plays it. So I found a RU-vid video of the most common Mozart songs people can't name. And boom, there it was. "Piano Concerto No. 21 In C K467, II. Andante"
Loved watching this as a child and avid planespotter. A great documentary but a bit too sophisticated for an 8 year old, I just wanted to see more of the planes!
