There are no sworn affidavits by Julius' court appointed attorneys saying his alibi was not what his family said. David McKenzie was just a piss poor excuse of a defense attorney and didn't present a case to defend Julius. He never even consulted or talked to Julius.

Also the description was that the shooter had a red bandana over his face and a half of an inch of hair sticking out of his stocking cap and his height was abt 5'6 to 5'8. (Julius is 6ft tall) Julius took a mugshot 9 days before the murder showing he didn't even have a centimeter of hair long enough to be sticking out of any kind of cap. There were two mugshot pics taken of him both before and after the murder. Chris Jordan had loose corn rows and side burns on his face and he is abt 5'8. He had hair that would've been sticking out of a stocking cap. Julius did not. That matches the description of the shooter, not Julius. Get your facts right.

Jones' attorneys testified under oath at the evidentiary hearing that Jones had advised them he was not at home at the time of the murder and that his parents were mistaken. Jones had an opportunity to deny these claims at the time and did not. It's all documented in the court's decision, along with Jones' own girlfriend giving testimony against him. Stop lying.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that. He now is serving life without parole His clemency hearing is over and he will never get another crack at it unless the Oklahoma voters decide to amend their constitution, which is VERY unlikely. Even the governor was unable to grant him the possibility of parole because of the state constitution. Jones is now out of appeals and clemency hearings, so he's going to die in prison. On top of that, he will now be in the general population and no the isolated death row, and being a fully inducted Blood he is going to have to be a LOT more careful. Who knows how he'll fare in there, but he's not getting out.

The bandana that was found in Julius Jones' room wrapped in the ballistics confirmed murder weapon that was also linked to him the summer prior by his girlfriend who found it in his glove box and the mechanic who worked on his vehicle and found the gun, with the banana, and panty hose. He also used the same gun, same bandana in 2 previous robberies and a car jacking that Julius Jones himself plead guilty to.

My problem here is that only one man really did the time. I'm convinced Julius was a participant, but more like 70/30 that he pulled the gun, which falls short of reasonable doubt. That being said, I don't think either man should have gotten away with serving just 15 years and both really should have gotten life, regardless of who fired the gun.

I haven't watched it yet but I get from: the different stories the family tells, the fact the witnesses that were involved said he was at least in the car but his family lying and saying he was at home, the fact they're pushing a "racist" narrative which has nothing to do with his guilt or innocence, and the fact celebrities and BLM groups are behind the protests just proves the motives behind everyone's involvement to pressure the Republican governor whom of course they'll no doubt lable "racist" or "white supremacists" if he doesn't stop the execution, him reading from a script and lack of any new evidence says the man is guilty!

I wrote a paper in college regarding death row juries and the bias in jurors and if that violates the rights of the person being accused. Unfortunately it’s a real thing. Prosecutors try to tailor jury’s to the best of their abilities to get a guilty verdict and the death penalty. Studies have shown that black people and religious people generally oppose the death penalty. So when they are screening jurors they generally will try and cut them out, and anyone who opposes the death penalty. Unfortunately, that leaves mostly white men because they are the population generally for the death penalty. The question is does this violate the accused’s rights? And in my opinion it does. First, there is not supposed to be any discrimination based on race or religion. And secondly, there is supposed to be a trial by jury of your peers. When they state peers, that generally means a population of people who have the general mind set of the public. So when these prosecutors are tailoring the juries to basically fit a mind set, and discriminating against certain races and religions, that to me is a violation of the accused persons rights.

Hate to say it, but I think this is a rare case where immediately asking for an attorney actually *hurt* the suspect. It sounds to me like the police legitimately weren't sure who the gunman was and were looking to offer the first person who rolled a surprisingly great deal. I'm sure beyond a reasonable doubt that Julius was on the scene and a participant, but more like 70/30 (well short of beyond a reasonable doubt) that he fired the gun. Had Julius gone straight for a deal as merely an accessory, but not the gunman, he may well have gotten one. But you're right, I think in cases like this the prosecutors really shouldn't allow someone who is in reality just as responsible for a murder as the gunman to serve just 15 years.

What you’re referring to is 100% a thing. If someone dies during a felony (including co-conspirators), anyone involved can be charged with 1st degree murder. So this guy is guilty regardless.

Sarada, I agree with you for the most part because I think in popular culture today, many celebrities attach themselves to high profile cases because of the publicity it brings to them over any good it will do for the person they are supposed to be advocating for. That said, perhaps one of the first times a celebrity took this stance was when Bob Dylan released the song 'Hurricane' in 1975, over 45 years ago, that documented the facts about the conviction of the champion, middleweight boxer, Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter and his friend who were arrested for a triple murder that happened in a bar in New Jersey. Carter had been in prison claiming his innocence since his arrest in 1966 and would eventually have his conviction overturned in 1985 at the age of 48. Because Prosecutors, for the most part though not always, are elected officials, how they are percieved in dealing with justice and more importantly perhaps, injustice, can be a career breaker. Dylan's song in and of itself did not secure Carter's release but he had a huge following among young voters and certainly raised public awareness and pressure from the public for Carter to be exonerated. So, this was a case of a celebrity inserting himself into a situation but doing something proactive to encourage the prosecutors and the public to take a closer look at what seemed, and in fact was, a complete travesty of justice and false arrest. Dylan set the bar high at a time when there was none of the technology enabling social media and communications that exist today. He used his head as well as his name. It is a pity these younger celebrities are unable to look back and see that this is one of the better ways of helping someone if you insist in becoming involved. Dylan most certainly did not have any personal agenda other than to get the song out there. I agree with you though about the outcome of this case and think this guy is where he should be, behind bars!

@@hannak3233 Actually you are mistaken. Kim Kardashian has taken her first year 'baby bar' exam twice (in 2018 and 2020) and failed it and can not commence with her law studies without passing it. She is currently in a 3 year law program and was required to take an exam following her first year called the "baby" bar exam in order to be eligible to sit for the actual bar. She admitted on her show that she has failed it twice and is currently on her third attempt.

For no fewer than a lot of times, I'm silencing those who think Jones is guilty, for I know that JJ is innocent, and those are the honest words I hope nobody can ignore.

I thought it was just a little lazy. Taking in news reports from both sides instead of primary evidence. But when you look at the evidence the prosecutors bring vs the defense, the case is pretty open and shut, especially with the DNA evidence, which I found the direct results of.

No. DNA testing, using more advanced techniques than were available prior to Jones' trial, revealed there was a partial DNA profile with a major contributor and at least two other possible minor contributors. The DNA of the major contributor matched Jones with a probability of 1 in 110 million. Jordan was not matched to either the major or minor components of the partial DNA profile. No conclusions could be made about the minor contributors because of degradation and allelic dropout. Just say you're a liar and move on, bro.

His DNA was found on the red bandana that was worn by the shooter, which was wrapped around the gun that was used in the crime, hidden up in the ceiling of Julius Jones room of his residence. Additionally, Julius Jones's girlfriend identified the gun that she found in his car (the same gun was found by a mechanic, along with a carjacking kit), and Jonee claimed it was his gun he used for protection. Julius Jones also plead guilty to a car jacking with the same MO, that occurred within a week of the shooting of Paul Howell.

The last few years there has been a push to change it, but as far as I remember around half the states still bar felons from serving on a jury, the other half have certain requirements. Here in Cali they changed the law last year- felons can serve if they have served and completed their sentence including completion of probation or parole and no one on the sex registry can serve. I believe Maine is the only state where felons can serve without restrictions

Yes but apparently in this case only if you're white. The black jurors who had criminal records were not allowed to serve. Talk about stacking the jury in a trial involving three black men!

I am not entirely sure how prospective jurors are selected but I am 56 and have been called up for jury duty three times in my life but never actually served because the panel was filled before I was needed, I am glad to say. The other thing you are asked to recuse yourself for is if you have any relationship with or any knowledge of the person who is about to stand trial. You would be surprised in District courts here how often the accused is known to a potential juror in some way! The comment I made here was in direct reference to what Dr Grande said about the jury selection for this trial and I am quoting directly here. 'During jury selection the prosecution eliminated a number of jurors who were black for reasons like, having been the victim of a crime or having committed a crime. The prosecution did not apply the same standard to those who were white, for example, one white juror had two felony convictions'. So you kind of have to wonder how that happened? @@dearbh1736 It's not that they weren't "allowed" to serve, they were challenged by the prosecution and removed. Both sides' lawyers question potential jurers and can then have them removed from the jury without giving a reason. I watched this process myself a couple of weeks ago when I was in the jury pool but never actually called to sit in the jury box. One potential juror was a serving police officer; he was asked several innocuous questions by the defence lawyers, then removed, which wasn't surprising to me, or probably anyone present in the court.

That's just it, if they did, they wouldn't have done it, but they don't care.

You need to reread the details about the description of the hair carefully. She did not say the hair was sticking out that far she said that's how much hair she could see under the cap. His hair was short but several inches of it were exposed at the bottom of the cap.

Why a pizza shop? Surely there were other places with greater sums of money available. Did this guy harbor some resentment for pizza? Perhaps coming from a family where both parents worked he spent too many evenings eating take-out - cold, soggy, pizza. His childhood resentment may have stretched to Suburban's such as the one described in Dr. Grande's analysis. His contractor father probably drove a beater Ford pickup and his mother being a schoolteacher probably drove some little foreign shit car with garbage stereo system. Hey man, great idea to use some of that money from defunding the cops to make better movies. Today's movies suck! Look at how exciting Clockwork Orange was. Kubrick was the master of crazy crime.
