Taking you along for a ride while we rescue 4 jumbo butterfly koi and 2 standard fin koi. One appears to have a rare case of hikui which targets the red in koi.
We truly appreciate you visiting. Feel free to say hello way down below! While here, won’t you please subscribe by clicking here: ru-vid.com Thanks and see you at the next video!
Holy smokes! I’m usually not a huge fan of the butterfly but those are some really cool fish! Also the Cape Fear Koi sign is looking great! First time I’ve seen it lit up at night!
Definitely larger than most butterfly koi. I’m glad you liked them! And thanks for noticing the sign! We are happy with the end results with the Tori gate and now having it lit.
Thank you Coo Koi. Definitely some big ones for longfin and overall big for backyard koi. I truly appreciate the kind words and you stopping to say so. Thanks for subscribing and see at another video!
Wow 18 years old . It must have been so hard to leave them. Great job catching they were really calm. Keep us updated. They are some really beautiful koi.
It was quite difficult for him. Unfortunately where he is moving in the mountains several states away, he was unable to have pond. Cool water can be a great time move them being a little slower and high oxygen levels. We will definitely keep you posted! Glad you like them!
Thank you. I appreciate that and thanks for noticing and commenting. I find they are the safest way to transport the larger koi. Especially longfin as their tails will easily get damaged if thrashing around.
Thanks! I even had a base layer on! 😆 That’s about as cold at it gets. Last year the water never went below 50 and it seems like this winter may be another mild one. All fish are still quite active in all the ponds/tanks here.
@@CapeFearKoi I saw that they are active.. We are having a mild winter so far as well. Wish there was a bit more snow on my ponds.. Igloo effect.. Some nights -15 this week.. About -11c now so about 12 F.
@@stubbsaquatics6080 that’s a cold that would make me uncomfortable! A couple years ago I do go camping in a tent when the low was 14 degrees. The water was frozen sitting next to me. My skin is too thin for that north country wind! It’s always nicer(and helpful it seems) with a bit of snow.
@@CapeFearKoi I could definitely do your winters.. Not sure I could do your summers but I would give it a try. 😆. N/C is my fav state.. Such a beautiful state from mountain to beach . Take care..
What were the little fish in the transfer tote that I saw when you were netting the koi for the quarantine pond? Also what was on the eyes of the orange colored koi?
Good eye on catching them in the tank. I’m impressed! Those were mosquito fish and many use them to keep the mosquito larvae in check since they like to hide in all the nooks and crannies. What looked to be an issue with eyes, were actually the nostrils. Some fish will have a trait which is commonly called Pom Pom nostrils. They just wave around as the fish swims. Those were particularly larger!
I personally prefer standard fin myself and that’s what I have in my personal collection. I will have them available after quarantine and make sure new owners have the space and ability to care for them. These were some of the largest longfin I’ve come across in a while.
@@laurenceklunder thanks! I’m glad viewers like a few!! Which are the ones you prefer? Some of the younger ones are continuing to grow nicely. Even though it’s winter here, it’s been fairly mild and yesterday I noticed they have still grown a bit lately. I plan on doing a Spring measure and up close video on them again.
@@laurenceklunder hopefully the ones you mentioned put on some size this coming year. I’m expecting some of the younger ones to double or more in weight this year from when I received them.
Thank you very much and I’m happy to hear you enjoyed it! The more you comment on the videos, the more I remember you!! 😉 Thanks for being part of Cape Fear Koi!
