I remember playing this, or a demo of this, when the PS1 was brand new, on a family friend's new Playstation, and it blew my effing mind. Most of you don't understand just how completely new and advanced this game seemed at the time. Keep in mind that this was MORE than a year before the Nintendo 64 was released.
Im so glad this game is getting more recognition. I used to play both games so much when i was young. They were some of the earliest games I remember playing. Back when I didn’t even know what video games even were.
such an interesting game, like many japanese ps1 games. There is an indie game in early access right now thats heavily inspired by Jumping Flash. It's called Forza Polpo, pretty fun but kinda unfinished which makes sense considering it's in development.
This was one of my favorite games of all time! You can bet I was pleasantly surprised this past Christmas when I bought a PS5 and downloaded the PS App that we get little Robbit models as a reward for monthly check-ins. Sony has not forgotten him. I hope for a proper 3rd/4th game some day
I first played this game on PS3 because I could buy it digitally and I think disc copies were rare at the time, and I enjoyed what I played, though I liked Jumping Flash 2 that bit more, even it's more a glorified add-on to the original. Do wish Jumping Flash 2 could be released on PS Plus though, since I don't see a modern remake of both working given the heights both games reach at times. Also, both of their soundtracks were great, at times, they give me Sonic CD vibes, specifically the US version of Sonic CD which I also prefer over the JP/EU soundtrack.
I remember trying this on the PSOne classic but the controls and the first person view really put me off and I never gave it another chance. Your video made the game feel a lot more approachable and I definitely need to give it another go in the near future.
I've been replaying it on the PS2 with the Tekken 10th anniversary arcade stick. It's like a whole other game. It works great for games like Wipeout too.
