Jumping Jack Flash! How Much Work Do We Have Left To Do?
Our old school J&J Speed and Machine nostalgia front engine dragster is really starting to take shape. But there is always work that needs to be done. We are so close to firing up this rocket on wheels slingshot and I am getting very excited! In order to fire this up, we need to make the engine spin and also have a way to power the starter. In this video, I install an MSD DynaForce starter, I have one on my 521" big block Ford powered 1968 Thunderbird and it works great! Seeing this 409 Chevy has a ton of compression, the MSD starter will work great, that is what it is designed for. I picked mine up through Holley and pit
To get power to the starter, I built a remote dual battery box. It is wired in parallel to double the amps and still keep it 12 volts. This engine needs all the cranking amps it can get! We are getting so close to meeting our goal, drag racing isn't that far off. Hard work, long days, and staying focused on our goal is really paying off! Stay tuned...

Whoa! I never realized just complicated all the piping and connections are involved with the Hilborn injection. I thought it was much simpler. And all that electrical wiring. How the heck do you keep track of all that? God forbid you have a short somewhere between races! Glad that I am a simple fan. You really show how much love, knowledge, patience, and $$$ is needed to own, build and eventually run a racecar.

There is a lot that goes into this, the fuel injection is vintage speed parts we have rebuilt. Unfortunately, some of the stuff you can’t find parts for and that has caused some major issues. Unfortunately, the modern versions of the parts we need are pretty darn expensive, so it’s onto plan B, which is still absolutely old school cool! Stay tuned my friend!

Beautiful!!! That thing looks just like they did when I was a kid! I know the rear engine style was for safety, but nothing can replace that brute force wicked look of a front engine Dragster!!! I think you nailed the nostalgia look for sure!!! Thanks for sharing!!

The only thing left for the nostalgia look would be "Moon Eyes" and "STP" stickers! It's really looking great! I went back and looked at one of the earlier videos and cannot tell that this is the same car!

It really looks so much different!!! Seeing about 80% of the chassis was replaced and everything else is new, it has definitely gone through quite the transformation! Those would be really cool decals!
