Hello fellow campers. Grab a snack and beverage, kick your shoes off, and relax. This is going to be a lengthy but full overview and review of our experiences, good and bad, of our new (to us) Jumping Jack Blackout Trailer

This is a great review because it’s not rehearsed and I found your experience with the details of the tent very helpful and trustworthy. Thank you!

Appreciate the review. Very cool system just out of my budget. Been tent camping for a very long time and hammer in stakes are a PIA! I’ve long since upgraded to 12” lag screws and bring along my impact wrench with a 3/8” socket. My Alaknak 12x12 took 30mph winds on top of a mountain this past summer and held fast.

Best review I’ve seen. Period. One thought of many: at the 35:00 mark - I’d have run a small shower head style attachment to the other guy’s water tank/heater setup, which is genius btw, versus the residential style sink faucet.

Thank you for the indepth review and all the time you both put into it. Like you said it's a Small company, hopefully they have seen this video and can fix some of the things you pointed out. The Threads on the inside is Nuts, I also saw that in one of the company's video, Very Lazy. But it was nice to see that overall it was built well. Thank you for showing how the table turned, I was interested in seeing how much more room you had, say,for getting up in the middle of the night. I really think the Company should send you out one of the Lamp post, as payment for the awesome video. This Tent Trailer is very interesting

Absolutely! We are honest about it. Perhaps a little too honest....aka, no company will ever sponsor us, which I'm 100% ok with. I don't want dealings with companies that won't stand behind their products and listen to their consumers

Thanks for the review. Gave me lots to think about. I’m considering buying one so any info is helpful. Would be curious how much cargo you can store in the folded tent and the open deck area when the wings are closed.

Hi guys. What a great review! I'm sold. I called the company and they are four months out on them. Supply issues I think. Anyway I have one question. Could a person use a portable AC to keep it cool during 90 + weather? Thanks again for the review! 🙂 Darin

Great and honest review, thank you. Can you talk more about those stairs? The free plastic step stool included is horrible and dangerous

Hey Dean. Shanda here. I'm not sure what you'd like to know, but here goes the info I wanted to know: These are a quick release steps. You hard attach a part that the steps connect to on the trailer. This allows you to take the off when traveling (which is needed when going off road) and also makes the steps super sturdy when connected. It is sturdy enough that I can jump up and down on them. I wouldn't recommend you do that, but I did just to see how sturdy they are. The brand is MORryde and the model will depend on if you have a regular or a black out. You need the 2 step for a regular JJ and the 3 step for the Blackout. There is a handrail that is available that I (Shanda) am looking at. I'm accident prone, so these steps were important safety wise. I'm not really sure what else to say other than the steps honestly make entry and exit a lot easier. If you have any other questions on it, let us know.

Thanks.......Question... Would the bolt that is used to hold the light pole go on the other side so it wouldn't hit the bar as you twist the knob?

Thank you for the review. I have a couple of questions, can you rotate the water jugs and the kitchen sink so it slopes downwards? Can you feed the bolt for the lantern post opposite way? And lastly do you feel that you need Jack's underneath to stabilize it? Thanks for your time.
@outdooradventuresofacityco216
@outdooradventuresofacityco216 4 года назад
Thanks for the comment. Yes you should be able to flip the sink set up to the left. I have it set up to the right for 2 reasons. One I do not have a hose at the moment. So it stays away from the higher traffic area. Like the stairs and entrance area. The other think is habits. I'm used to a flow from working in kitchens. (Dirty, wash, dry, store clean). That's a personal preference though. You should be able to make it left and better if a longer hose is attached. As for the bolt on the lantern post is no. I did try that with no luck. As wide as the tightening nut is it does not allow it. Once I got used to it, it became easy, more of a pet peeve. For the Jack's, we would say it's a personal preference. We would both like them at some point. Just with the cheap drop down in the back and tounge jack, it can move side to side a little when walking around. We are looking into a fix on that. It isn't bad but it is there. I hope this helped answer you questions. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks for reaching out. -Bryan

for the lantern post bolt, could you put it on with the trailer wing (the bed fold-down) slightly lifted up so that the bar isn't in the way?

Hey I found you guys because I am thinking about selling my homemade Roof Top Tent Trailer and buying one of these. I wanted to see what the average person (meaning not a dealer) had to say good and bad about it. I like your honesty. I also do youtube videos in Arizona about boondocking and glamping. I am interested in watching the rest of your videos, so I subscribed and rang the bell. I also gave this video a thumbs up. I Hope we run into each other out there sometime. Great video!

Thank you so much! We had an equally hard time which is why we've done a good amount of videos on them. We wished we had more opportunities to see them prior to biting the bullet on the purchase. What's your RU-vid channel? We (Shanda) are always looking for ideas on boondocking and making camping more comfortable. Lol.

The big awning and lantern hanger work just fine together. Hanger helps stabilize the awning. Was also concerned about the heat of the lantern but it hasn’t been an issue. Awning is never more then warm to the touch. I have the 12 ft trailer and 8 ft tent . So the awning is just past the end of the trailer.

Thanks for the video, me and my wife are looking into getting the 6x12 blackout also. We live here in Utah and plan on running over to the Company floor room. I have a 2015 V6 Tacoma. I heard you mention you also have one. How does it tow with your Tacoma? Thanks again

Hi there! Shanda here. We have 2 tow vehicles. 2007 Toyota Tacoma and a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. Both have large tires and levelers. Toyota is not 4x4. Dodge is 4x4. Both tow perfectly. Glad you found the video useful. Hit us up if you have any other questions. We'll try our best to answer them or at least point you in the direction of someone who can

Yes, definitely pricey, but like you said, well built, and it hold up. We've taken it to a lot of places that would beat up our friend's campers/trailers, especially the toy haulers. Are they for everyone? No. Are they for us? Yes.

Hi Richard. Shanda here. Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you found the video helpful. We love this trailer, but had a really hard time finding videos when we were researching, which Is why we spent so much time on them. We're glad some are finding then helpful. These trailers are not for everyone, but for those of us that want a middle ground between tent and toy hauler, this is an awesome option. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles that fancy rings have, but for us, the ability to spend more time using it than fixing it, it's a good trade off. Nothing wrong with a full size trailer, we're just not there....yet. Have you seen a JJ in person? Are you considering one? What are your hobbies?
