Silly question... what’s an EQ horse?!

@@footluceeventing Basically it's a mostly US thing, but we also do hunter, and equitation. It's not a silly question, because from what I know it's not a thing anywhere else.. We have eventing, dressage, and showjumping. We normally call show jumping, Jumpers, then there is hunters and EQ/ Hunters is based on how the horse moves, you typically want a horse with nice scope over fences and a long smooth canter who will keep it's head steady. then in equitation, or EQ your judged on how the rider looks, but you still want a horse that has a nice scopey jump. It's pretty hard to explain, and pretty weird. That’s so fascinating I had no idea! One last question... what’s a hunter jumper? I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that before?! Or have a made it up 😂

@@footluceeventing Okay so basically I am not the best at explaining this but here is a definition from Google- Hunters: Where the horse and rider jump a course and the judging is based on accuracy, grace, and elegance. Jumpers Where the horse and rider memorize a course of jumps and a jump-off course. If the horse and rider make it through the first round without any faults, then they jump the jump off. So if someone says a hunter/jumper stable they mean they do both and train both hunters and jumpers, a hunter/jumper horse is a horse that can do both. I think it's just another term to say a hunter or jumper. I think you guys call it Show Jumping, we call it jumpers but they mean and are judged the same way! You defiantly didn't make that up, it's very common here too!

@@footluceeventing well, maybe it was the horse they judged, cos whatever is happening in this video is not someone i consider a good or graceful rider. Her whole body is in the horse’s neck almost, and her hands are going everywhere, and i have no idea what is happening at 12:00. Your riding is totally cool, if you didnt say i would have never guessed that the other girl is a trainer. Patrick Kittel was also going to 5* events, but it doesnt mean his equitation was good

I mean I’m not here to argue... however I do know that you have to have to be some rider to get round Burghley AND get placed in the top 3... it’s only like the biggest 5* in the country... but whatever 😂
