Red tides, also called harmful algal blooms (HABs), occur when microscopic algae multiply to higher-than-normal concentrations, often discoloring the water. Although more than 50 HAB species occur in the Gulf of Mexico, one of the most well-known species is Karenia brevis, the red tide organism.
I've been surfing many years and got sick every year with this red tide. So now I wear a noseplug.. looks silly and people do a double take but it's worth it to save my sinuses. Also, I always wear earplugs cause I'm old! haha.

Got back home to a nice "cold" welcome , isn't it JUNE???? Water temps dropped and the dreaded annual RED TIDE filled in. Swapped boards with my bro for a few waves, tried out the new KELLY SLATER great white board, lots of fun, may have to get one shaped in similar dims with my custom shaper promer surfboards.
Make sure you wear your earplugs & noseplugs if you can get some from amazon.
