I remember this. The earliest tornado warning I’ve experienced. I was 5 at the time, and it was during nighttime. I was terrified & we had went to the basement. At that time we had a television downstairs, so we were able to see if there was still a tornado warning or not. It didn’t pass where I was at, but there was damage done around my area.
I love Columbus's Tornado Siren System. They have a system of random Whelen Series and their howling sound makes it easier to grab attention to near by residents. I can say that the siren being heard the most in the video is a Whelen WPS-3016. Those are the higher pitched Whelens.
Took them long enough to sound an alert... must have been waiting to actually see it like a town here in Kansas where I use to live.... Once it's close enough to see there's not much time to seek shelter. Great video glad you're safe...
Incredible lightning show, probably the most incredible of my life. Thankfully the rotation was south of where I was, I was on the northwest side of town, somewhere between Dublin and Worthington. The tornado sirens kept going off at least 30 minutes after the warning was cancelled.
Dude what time of day was this recorded? Every once in a while we get a nasty supercell in Phoenix AZ that has so much rain, it literally looks as black as this! And the rain portion is actually often the brighter portion of the storm during the day!
they even had the tornado sirens malfuntioning from all the electricity generated by the lightening... they wouldn't shut off for 30 minutes after the warning expired
@@nssteampunk4865 Well it's either you know or you are assuming. That siren heard in the video was probably a old dual toned Whelen, Cbus had quite a few of them at one point
WOW. The strike at 1:42/1:43 is SO CLOSE! I paused the video frame by frame to see it...it looks like it's only 15 yards or so away from you. lol Are severe t-storms and tornado warnings frequent during the spring and summer in Columbus? I'll be there all of may and am hoping so! Crazy as it might sound, I LOVE them. :)
I remember this one i was 5 and omg i got really scared i was on hilltop then i think and ever since that day i been scared of tornadoes im 18 now still scared of tornadoes
CLEARLY you didn’t watch the video. You’re those types of people who just click on, comment, click off. 1:24. Your welcome. Next time, before you comment something, watch the video. Thanks.
VERY dangerous behavior filming outside in a storm of that ferocity. use common sense, get the hell outta there! Mother Nature has a lot of tricks up her sleeve
