Happy birthday Peg, sounds like a good read. I live about 30 minutes north of Doc Holiday's home town of Griffin Georgia. A while back I visited his supposed grave. According to his dad he had him re-buried in Griffin. I am not aware of any serious Historians that think his dad really had him moved but it adds a bit of more mystery to Doc's life.

The playlist sounds like such a great idea! I hope it was a fun read/experience! For June on the Range, I read Hondy by Louis L'Amour, Last of the Duanes by Zane Grey, Eye of the Wolf by T.V. Olsen, and an issue of an Italian western comic book called Tex. These were my first westerns and Hondo especially was very good!

Happy birthday Peg. Don't worry, I am older than you and always will be ! Don't come across too many westerns in the UK but I did read Lonesome Dove after so many booktube recommendations and absolutely loved it.

I love that the author included a playlist. I want to check out this book. I'm currently reading Lonesome Dove for the first time. I also read Shane and The Ox Bow Incident. For non-fiction this month, I chose Dreams of El Dorado by H.W. Brands and Cattle Kingdom by Christopher Knowlton.

Have a wonderful birthday and if you end up dancing on a table, wear flat shoes! Thanks for all your recommendations.

Never did get into the literature surrounding the "Wild West", and as already said not that easy to get hold of westerns in the UK. My stepfather loved them, but they became increasingly difficult to get and he refused to read any other genre, so I might get him Holliday and try and get him back into reading. Enjoy your reading everyone.

It's always interesting to hear someone talk about a passion, but I've gotta admit that the mythologized American West has never really clicked for me. Not sure why. However, that playlist is pretty sweet, even though I cringe to recall angry teenage Bryan listening to Rage Against the Machine. The only things that sheltered idiot had to rage against were triple digit haylofts, stubborn lead cows, and Sister Terasita ordering him to re-polish the stainless steel in the hospital kitchen when he did a half-assed job. Ahem, but anyway, happy vacation and happy 29th! Hope it's a great week!

I read Let the Hurricane Roar by Rose Wilder Lane yesterday, Caroline and Charles, when they first married and set up on a claim. It was during a break from Bret Harte's Gabriel Conroy, which is a long book. Also, In the Distance by Hernan Diaz, which is excellent. Giddy up.
