The Danish movie can be bought here:

or here www.dvdcity.dk/...
or here www.imusic.dk/...
If you want the american version... sight... Amazon is a nice place:
www.amazon.com/...
I have uploaded the movie in 4:3 because of the strange format to the danish movie (14:9) and the american version which was 4:3. Why 14:9 you say? Well, still in 1996 it was not totaly clear if it was going to be 16:9. They stood between 15:9, 1.85, 2.20 and 2.35.
Comparing the original Danish version from 1996 and the 2005 English version.
You would believe that 11 years later they would have good time to translate... they do not.
Personal issues:
• Why do suddenly everybody knows who is who? Cupman knows Hugo is named Hugo, though in the Danish version it's "The jungle animal".
Hugo knows who Cupman is, though in the Danish version it's "The human".
• Is "laying eggs" something very bad in English? Why have it been translated to: "Have to go" istead of "The eggs wants out/ I have to lay eggs"?
• What's up all that stupid noises Hugo and Rita makes in between talking??? The English version lack music score, but it don't lack talking, in fact, there's nearly not one silent moment!
• Was really hard to actually have the same background score? I can understand if the originally score is missing and they had to make a new one, but why a new melody? Why not keep the same melody as the original?
Imagen Star Wars suddenly having Danny Elfman music.

THE SCORE of this movie is everything. I grew up watching the Finnish dub and it has the original score, thankfully. Hearing it feels so nostalgic even to this day. It's crazy that they would change the score in the English version.

Original danish is superior, by far. English dubs always tend to make way too much more sounds than necessary, especially during emotional scenes. Silence is gold, you know? This isn't just a problem with this movie, it's something that's a problem in a lot of english dubbed cartoons and anime. Also, I love the original music, and it's a real shame they had to change it for whatever reason. And of course, censoring. Ugh, I'm not even going to go into that.

There is mention several companies in the opening credit, one of them I know as an Norwegian company. What they did I don't know. The first movie was made in Denmark, but as you said, had help. The second movie was not made in Denmark, but was controlled from there. And the last movie was made in Estii (Estonia) if I am not mistaken. I believe Europe took the movie a whole lot more serious then the Americans dubbers . The movie was original going to be translated by the British in 1996. Pity.

3:24-4:05 The others ones weren't too heavily edited (One I even felt was improved upon a bit), but that one really stands out as they changed the ENTIRE SCENE in the English dub.

They are showing so much just by looking at them. The problem with the American version(it was suppose to be a British version back in 96 but never happen) is that it's to much. I don't have a problem with the voices or singing, but all that inbetween the talking becomes very very irritating. Also the movie is translated wrong and been cutted.

I did not complement the American version. I meant it negative. The Danish without blinking. The American version is simply painfull to watch. Though the songs are not that bad in the American version. When I said they made the movie for English I meant British as in England, but it never happened for reasons I don't know. Instead it was translated to American in 2005.

They don't move their lips when the American version adds all that squeaking noise to Hugo and Rita. And what lip sync? It's animation and animals. The movie was made for German, Hungarian, Finnish and English (Yes it was!). After what I have heard they did a good job at it to.

Danish. This is a Danish movie. Originally dubbed in Danish. Norway, Sweden, Germany, Netherland... and so on, dubbed the movie, keeping the original score, sounds and the original cut. The American version was cutted down, the music was redone for the worse and some annoying sound effects was added to every single moment someone did not speak! The songs was catchy though, and the voices was ok, but the translation is not right. Deep voice on cute animals... not really noticed that. Examples?
@stiant06
@stiant06 16 лет назад
My biggest issue is the fact the movie have been cutted and not translated right.
@stiant06

@stiant06 There are words in Danish that would be common swear words in Norwegian, but just as "Skitt; shit" means nothing in Norwegian, the Danes word are harmles in Denmark as well. Take f. exs. the Danish word "tøs", in Norwegian that mean "whore/hore", though in Danish it means "little girl".
@stiant06
@stiant06 15 лет назад
It would be wrong to say English, this dub was made by Americans in 2005 and originally was supposed to have been done in England back in 1996. I believe the result would been better.

The America version has totally misunderstood Hugos and Ritas personality - or at least the most important: That they are wild and free animals !! Especially in the last scene in these clips (which I think is great that you've put on youtube). Rita: "Then do what they tell you to!" She'd never say that! She'd never do what humans whod' tell her to - and neither would Hugo! That's the point! I mean, come on !!
