I found this old Matsui branded early 2000s video recorder with £10 and not working sticker in a Junk shop. Just could resist the challenge of finding out what is wrong and seeing if I could fix it.
Would it be worth putting a little bit of hot clue on that part to stop it moving back, I mean not loads just enough to keep it from slipping back so its loose again!?
I don't know about that. Orion VCRs were always reliable and performed well - and these didn't have a mode switch as such, it was all done optically, so failures were quite rare. They were Japanese, don't compare them with modern Chinese tat. By the time these were on sale in the early 2000s they were no worse than anything else on the market really - and five years prior the equivalent Orion was arguably better-built than contemporaries from Sanyo, Philips, Thomson or Samsung.
The aesthetics and feature are junk but the quality of the picture and the mech is quite reasonable. Was very surprised that the picture quality was so good.
