Junkyard 70s Mercedes! Sitting 20+ Years. Will It Run? Derby car!? -- RSG 

I owned a 1973 280SE a few years back and I'll tell you that I didn't have a clue about these cars but after driving it for four years it was an AWESOME car!! It ran so good and was so smooth even when it wasn't running on very good tires it was better than almost any car I ever had until then. I was sold on the Germans from then on. But BMW wasn't quite the same. They are awesome to drive but they aren't the same as those old Mercedes heck Mercedes are the same as Mercedes! LOL.

By the way the trunk was open all you had to do was press the button. If the outside one was locked then there was one in the glove. LOL.

I know the body is very rusty but I don’t understand why you damaged the trim and lights with the loader. The early M117’s had mechanical lifters that require periodic valve adjustments. They did not get hydraulic lifters until 75 or 76. An alternative to the D jetronic injection is the much more reliable K jetronic system from a later car.

You can save some parts such as those bumpers. Some W116 owners prefer to replace their US bumpers with those Euro bumpers on your car. Does the radio work? Good luck.
