50 here and this is still one of my favorites. I miss great music and good times. Guess its time to "grab my keys and cigarettes and disappear into the night"....
Band is STILL alive and kickin ass!! A testament to seeing them live!!..at 310 Austin City Limits 5-5-23 . Great show guys!! Played ALL their songs! Thanks a million fellas…outstanding!!
Wanted so bad to be there in Austin but couldn't make it!! Hope u had a badass time! Saw them in San Antonio on there first tour at a place called Sneakers, they kicked ass!!! To this day they still do!
My husband's band won a local "Battle of the Bands" in WV in 1990 with this song! Beating out a long time winning local favorite! It was outside on a flatbed at a bar called "The Island" & the crowd was dancing on gravel & singing along!
53 and still listen to these guys pretty much every day. This music and the era it came from are such a large part of my youth and the years I lived in SoCal listening to them on KNAC 105.5 PURE ROCK. So much nostalgia is tied up in their music for me. It's an instant trip back to the early nineties when I hear "ROACH" and the boys. Thinkin' about havin' "Mymargarita" right now and crankin' it up. Keep on Rockin' brother.
Opened up for this band at the waters club in Long Beach. Miss those days and have always dug this band. Now I am in my 50's and still rocking in spirit 🙂
I was in a cover band when this CD was first released. We did this this one and Hands Off, which always had people asking "Who does that song?". I never understood why this band didn't make it huge back in those days. Looking back it was around the time the great biker bands and hair metal was giving way to Grunge. I still listen to them and enjoy it just as much as singing it.
Yeah it’s kinda hard to believe one of the founding members of Minor Threat was in this band. I’m not saying they are bad at all, just strange. And then Grunge comes in and shuts them down. Go figure.
I have a theory as to why they didn't make it "huge" which in essence boils down to: "We don't kiss YOUR ass...YOU kiss OUR ass". Who is the "your" I'm making reference to?? Possibly executives and/or personalities that work and/or have a lot of pull or influence in the music and/or entertainment industry. It doesn't matter anyways, because like the previous commentator ^^^ said, only the 😎 (cool) or coolEST appreciate such a band and their music...In other words we don't need no cultural or music critics to dictate to us about what is good or admirable...We like what we like, and if YOU don't like it...You know where to "stick it"😎🤣😉😐
My buddy and I used to butcher this song in the ol’ garage studio, we loved it. Now, 30 years later, we re-connected and do the same thing, but in the living room, with much nicer gear. We just smile and crack up when we play it. Such awesome memories with this band. Saw them live, and played their cassette over and over nonstop on a historic Las Vegas road trip more than 30 years ago. Those were the days… glad to see this video. Man, the memories. Crazy.
" you can take a boy out of the filth but that don't make him clean" "never took anything thing from you that I couldn't return twice" This is one of the best most underrated songs to come out of the late 80's I loved the song in 89 and I still love this song in 2022, simply a classic
Sweet! Have to agree the late 80's early 90's where the best for me. Only wished I go back & know what I know now; may be I'd be anywhere other than here in VA. I guess the rebel in me is what still drives my soul! But is what it is for time being.....and that's a FACT! Stay wild & free!
I'm so happy there are women in this world who love this song and this sort of music... cos... Lord, I'm a simple man, ain't too much I need... :-) Greetings from a 34yo from the Czech Republic. I wish I knew all the songs that sound so great like this one. Anyone who is reading this please throw some suggestions at me, I'll appreciate it even in case I know the songs already :-) Thanks
@Tom Wetz Wow, thanks a lot for these!! It doesn't matter how far back because, even though I'm in my 30s, I grew up on Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and bands like that, going forward I love a lot of the bands you listed here from the 80s, but some I don't know so I'll check them out! Many thanks again :-) If you have particular songs which sound like Simple Man, I mean ballads or even acoustic stuff from some of those bands, don't hesitate to throw some tips at me. I totally love Tesla, Danger Danger (btw, you can check out this guitar cover - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BZ0RgHSc1gE.html the guy is a great talent and plays a lot of 80s stuff, some songs he put on another level even though I admit everyone has different tastes, so you may not be a fan of this stuff), Cinderella...Great White, boy oh boy, they have special guitar sounds and riffs and are in my opinion very underrated by the general public but I'm blessed to know their music. Tora Tora I don't know that much so I'll check them out first I guess! Autograph and Ratt I also love, Britny Fox... great choices. I'm sure the rest that I don't know or don't know that much will be awesome! Have a great weekend too!
@Tom Wetz I browse a lot of music and know plenty of the bands so I'm almost like if I lived in the era, but there's always plenty of music that I don't know and that keeps me happy because I know I'll find some gem in future. Thanks for the tips, Tora Tora are fantastic, I loved Shelter from the Rain, As Time Goes By and Faith Healer. And of course Phantom Rider! Every Man's Nightmare are cool too.
This song is ALWAYS played on loop for me!! Reminds me of my late husband,,he was just that "Simple Man"...grabbing his keys and smokes and off to the mountains we would go jamming to this song and now I head to the cemetery and jam it even more!!!
Plug m in and let the play....there's no substitute for authentic rock n roll...these guys are awesome...I first heard them in early 90s....Junkyard rocks...check out a song called "hands off"
First time I heard that song was in my cousin's car while cruising around S.A. Texas in the late 80's during my first trip to the US. A moment I will never forget, perfect song at perfect time. That slide guitar ❤. Nothing to envy to GnR.
I am 51 now and still have the same heart and thoughts I had back in the day 80’s, ya know us people of the 80’s seem to still think the same as to people now a days are and think quite different I guess they will never understand the good times we all had growing up in the 80’s!
These dudes rock!!!! Good trucking jam, used to listen to it often when I was truckin. Maybe back behind the wheel soon becoming a nomad once again with my Pitbull.
still runs through my head quite often . I consider it one of my top 20 all-time favorites ! And that little blue-eyed blonde honey is a regular part of my dreams!
@@junkyardhollywood the new stuff is every bit of balls out, middle finger in your face rocknroll that the 89 album was. A lot of bands can't say that even with all the original members.
@@kurtp8833 very underrated AND underappreciated.. their talent definitely wasnt recognized for what it was.. they certainly should have done better as musicians.. their music was a perfect fit for what was going on at the time..
Still have the cassette and my my Sony Walkman I used to wear when me and my now wife worked at the drag strip in the early 90s rocking out walking down the the strip picking up shit of the track before I had to do safety inspections
