Jupiter-Saturn Great Conjunction occurs every 20 years. the last time they were so close was July 16, 1623. humans couldent observe it because of the sun. galileo galilei was alive to that time, he couldent see it. i think he was pissed.

@Fide Nemini Ugh everyone says that they have passed only 400‐800 years ago when in reality, Jupiter‐Saturn conjunctions happen every 20 years, the last in the year 2000. The confusion is coming from the fact that this is the closest since 1623 and the most visible since 1226. If you are gonna say something say it right.

Last summer {2019} most nights right after sunset you could see 4 of the 5 planets you can see with the naked eye at the same time. Jupiter and Saturn were FAR apart. Jupiter was to the south west and Saturn to the south east. I've been waited for 3 years for last night and it was cloudy as can be. I saw it the day before and Saturn was just above Jupiter and tonight it will be just below it.
@erictalkington5674
@erictalkington5674 3 года назад
@@carloscrack3 it's cool looking up at the sky at night. I've been watching Jupiter slowly catch up to saturn over the last 3 years now. Last year they were on opposite sides of the sky during summer. Mars has been up a lot and still is. On Oct. 13th we were lined up with between Mars and the sun and it rose exactly as the sun set and it set exactly as the sun rose. To look up and see an orange colored dot in the sky that looks like a bright star and know that one day people will be living there is wild as fuck. In 2019 you could see 4 planets at the same time every night all summer last year. You can only see 5 with the naked eye and at some point all 5 can be seen at the same time but it's not very often. Venus and Jupiter are usually the brightest things in the sky. This year around June or July, every planet in the solar system including pluto were all in the same quarter around the sun at the same time. All of them were on our summer side if the sun. Being that pluto takes 248 years to circle the sun and Saturn is about 26 or 29 years, Jupiter 16 years and venus is about a half year and I think mercury is like 88 days or so. So to have ALL of them without pluto on the same side can't happen but every few thousand years at least and to have pluto on the same side, I'd imagine that's something that happens only once every tens of thousands of years and it just happened.
@solay7778
@solay7778 3 года назад
@@erictalkington5674 this is very interesting. Where/how can I look into this more? Any suggestions? Thanks
@erictalkington5674
@erictalkington5674 3 года назад
@@solay7778 yep, there is a free app called planets. I think that's all it's called. It will show you where they all are even when they are on the back side of the earth. It has a line drawn from horizon to horizon up in the sky and behind us and all day you can see where they are and what's going to come up. Sometimes you'll have to close the app if it's been open a while and reopen and it will update where they are at the moment. I've been watching the planets for years and Mars and Jupiter are bright and they can be up all night. Since mercury and venus are between us and the sun, they are only visible a little while before sunrise and after sunset. They will make their way across the sky but it's during day time. So, in December of 2019 venus was up after sunset. It's so bright that you can see it already while it's still light out if you know where to look. Mercury is kind of faint and you can't see it as often. So I watched venus early this year for months after sunset. In say may it disappeared as it went behind the sun. Then in August about an hour or two before sunrise its bright as can be and to the east. Even after it's bright out but the sun is not up, you can see it still as a white dot in the sky. I thought now we are seeing it on the opposite side of the sun as where it was early this year, but as it turns out it's in the same place and WE are in the other side. It's almost gone though. It's barely above the horizon now just before sun up. I have some videos of my own showing them. Jupiter and Saturn are about to disappear. They have been on our summer side the last 2 or 3 years and now they are moving into our fall side, so this year we could see them at 5 am in mid to late March and now they are up for less than an hour after sunset. They will start being visible again in early to mid summer right after sunset. Next summer and fall Jupiter will now be on the opposite side of saturn than it has been. Mars has been right by the moon the last 2 nights. Early this year in late March at about 5 am it was saturn to the east, Jupiter just west of that and Mars was just west of that. You could see all 3 in a line. It got cloudy for 2 weeks and once it cleared up, Mars was on the other side. It was in our early summer side while we were in spring. After it passed them, it would come up later and later until it wouldn't even come up until Jupiter and Saturn went down, now it's only about a half a sky a way from them from our perspective. Once we passed Mars on Oct. 13th it's been in the sky more and more with those other two as we are pulling away from Mars. It's weird seeing it like most nights all year long. I smoke cigarettes and I don't smoke inside so every night even if it is cloudy I'm outside walking around and keeping tabs on them I always know when which ones will be up. If you go outside on a clear morning before sunrise look to the south east and you'll see venus. It's really bright but it gets higher as it gets light out but you can still see it but it has to be right before sun up. Saturn is harder to spot when it's not by another planet. It's pretty faint. Until a handful of years ago I didn't realize there is usually at least one planet each night you can see. Once you see them, you'll know them again because of how bright they are. Mercury is hard to find, it's not as bright but it glistens sometimes. It moves so fast though that you only get brief periods of time seeing it. There is a site also called the planets positions today I think. It has a view of the solar system and it shows where all the planets and out moon are at all times and it goes 2 weeks back and two weeks ahead and it shows where each day. I have a few videos of Venus early this year. Maybe some others. Space stuff is the name of the ones I have like "venus and other space shit." that's one. Hope that helps.

I was lucky to observe Jupiter and Saturn at dusk, several times this month, very low on South horizon, approx 4.30pm ish. I'm always thrilled to see anything in the sky particularly as I'm in light-polluted area, LONDON, and of course, the weather here in London has been rain and cloudy for weeks! But saw the planets clearly, with naked-eye, and when I got home quickly got my binocs and the view was spectacular!! 2020 in general has been an incredible year for observing!

I feel so lucky to have seen this Great Conjunction, the Venus Transit in 2012, the closest approach of Mars in 60,000 years a few years ago... and comets, total eclipses, Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 crashing into Jupiter, the Voyager probes launches, the first humans on the Moon and so many other wonders in my own lifetime!!! What a time to be alive!!! Be safe Sirish!!! ✨🌌🪐🌝🌓🌏🌍🌎🌠🖖 Isabelle Victoria British Columbia

This is great! The inset seems to show the moons of Jupiter (lower right) becoming dimmer and finally disappearing as the pair moves down to the horizon. A great illustration of the impact caused by the amount of atmosphere and light pollution, causing diminished resolution.

@@HKgaming86 Yes! ... I certainly was expecting to see something as it was claimed I should do with the naked eye. and I had a perfectly clear sky. Yet the following morning, the half hour before dawn, with a cloudy overcast sky, the Northern star twinkled largely through the hazy sky. So I think I saw something!!
