This thumbnail accurately represents every one of the reviews, Joe is Silly, other joe is slightly less silly and the other dude is kinda just grumpy. xd
The original Jurassic Park had humor but I feel like Jurassic World relies on Chris Pratt's to deliver it way too much and the only thing he can do in terms of comedy is what he did on Parks & Rec and Guardians Of the Galaxy and that can get kind of annoying as time goes on. Chris Pratt has essentially become George Clooney in the sense that when you go to watch a movie that George Clooney is in, you're not watching him play a character. He plays himself but in different outfits that the movie requires him to put on. Essentially you're watching Chris Pratt do Star Lord but as a guy who likes dinosaurs. It gets boring watching the same person essentially play the same character over again without anybody new to take in the helm. Thats why Alan Grant was the main character for 1 and then he took a break for 2 in which Ian Malcolm came in. Plus the Indo- dinosaurs are really dumb when it comes to JP. Its a new idea, sure, but I just don't care for different breeds mixed together. Reminds me of a blumhouse film you'd see on Sci-Fi
RedTeamReview I couldn't have said if better myself. Chris Pratt's presence destroys the immersion that I have for these movies. I can tell by the trailer alone that any scene that he's in there won't be a sense of real danger. That element just ruins the movie for me. We are basically watching Star-Lord take on some dinosaurs. Again. I'll wait to watch it when I see it on Netflix.
RedTeamReview it’s not that the comedy in older movies was better, it’s that it was organic and made sense and was never forced for the sake of a joke. I swear every new movie has a joke quota and if they don’t reach it half the people working on it will get canned. I hate comedy in movies today with the only exception of super hero movies because your not supposed to take it seriously.
"Chris Pratt's presence destroys the immersion that I have for these movies" exactly. when chris pratt is on screen? i know the only person who will die is someone who is unattractive or heavy-set
RedTeamReview Uhhh Chris Pratt really hasn’t been in a movie with someone unattractive or heavy set. Also you need to watch the Magnificent Seven remake. He was actually really good in that film and didn’t rely on his typical humor. He did in some parts but for the most part he didn’t.
Idk about you lot but i lile alex being there, he basically brings things back down alittle and play devils advocate, like its good to have diverse opinions on movie, i will admit tho, sometimes he complains about nothing but i enjoy him here
Codogcodog That's pretty much every video that features 2 other people. At least when its just AJ & OJ I feel like he at least lets OJ get in his opinion when he asks for it. But when ever its 2 others beside him they start giving an opinion on something and are only able to get out the beginning of it. Before Joe takes their opinion and runs with it himself lol.
Yeah, Joe needs to sort out a better 🎤microphone set-up so they get equal volume. It always seems like they’re pushed off to the side of the mics range just so he can easily talk over them
The thing that pissed me off the most was that in the trailers they teased how the dinosaurs would get free on the main continent with the mosasaurus attacking the surfers and the T-rex roaring with a lion at a zoo and like 3/4 of the movie passes and i'm like : this movie is already too long for them to show us dinosaurs roaming free in a city. They're just gonna set up a sequel. I was looking forward to those scene but it just sets up another movie. The indoraptor was uninteresting. I didn't mind the indominus in the first one but that just feels lazy. They used the t-rex just so it would be in the movie. It doesn't do much outside of the opening scene (which was probably my favourite scene of the movie). As if there we no other dinosaurs that could potentially be more dangerous than raptors and tyrannosaurus rex. I saw some of references to other genetically modified dinosaurs in the first jurassic world with mixes of stegosaurs and triceratops like That would have looked more unique and more interesting to watch than the indominus's cousin. The clone of the girl part was dumb, the girl hiding under the sheets of her bed? DUMBER. At least fucking go under the covers all the way or get a better hiding spot dummy. Dumb military guy getting inside the cage and freeing the indoraptor? Dumb. Dinosaurs being in cages most of the movie? Dumb. Theres so many dinosaurs that has never been in the franchise that could very well be a part of the movie and be dangerous as hell that they dont need to make generic hybrids like the indoraptor. Also even if the dinosaurs are extinct and could kill everyone, Joe just wanting them to let them die is just dumb. They brought them back and they'd be responsible and need to take care of them so they don't become extinct again. I'm never gonna skip a jurassic park movie ever no matter how many sequel they make but this cliffhanger sucked. Even after all this shit i said i still think it's enjoyable at parts but i'm usually easy to please with movies like these.
is it just me or did the mosasaurus sence seem like extra footage that they did not know what to do with? That sence motivated me to see the movie as well. this movie is DUMB
Other problems: The Indoraptor is said to have a better sense of smell than Blue but can't smell anything unless it's looking at it. The Indoraptor is said to take commands better than humans. How is that possible? The Indo rips pieces off a metal staircase like butter, but running full speed at a 2 inch piece of wood completely stops it. They said that they only needed the IT guy so that he could reboot the system, so that means that there was no one else capable of doing that. When Blue gets shot that girl says she's the only one that can heal Blue, so they didn't think they would ever need a medic? When the Hydrogen Cyanide started leaking, anything that breathed it would die in a matter of seconds, yet the dinos are breathing it in for minutes. And that's only a sliver of the problems in this movie.
Gotta say you made your point with the first 2 sentences...did not expect the other storybook you wrote (that I didn’t read) but it’s nice to see someone that’s hyper verbal like myself lol
Things i hate about the movie: - the mososaur survived in the tank with no food. - they created another prototype dinosaur - the main bad guy collecting dinosaur teeth goes into the raptors cage - keeping dinosaurs in a house - how they released them into the wild - how only a handful of dinosaurs in the wild with trackers means we have to co-exist with them
all negatives I agree with. (#1 bugs me alot, guys in the intro legit even make mention of it) also include how at no point do the bad guys have security. Claire legit flies off the dock with her truck, magically slams the brakes, hits nothing, puts a cap on, and VIOLA blends in. Then her, Owen, and the IT guy just sneak around and no one notices. They visit the Dino Doctor (who makes no sense cause having never seen a dinosaur before, how would be a paleoveterinarian) and then go get the blood, make a shit ton of noise, and yet still don't get caught
You do realize the Dinosaurs walked around freely....easy access considering the railings were destroyed previously and Mosasaurus had easy pickings for nearby Dinosaurs
I love the nonsensical internal logic of the movie. A Paleovetinarian who has never seen a dinosaur before / people staring at dinosaurs in wonder & awe, again as though they had never seen them before, when the plot of the previous film was that they had to make new hybrid dino's because people had become bored of them as a result of the parks success.
Gordon Marshall all these public folk go to the park to see dinasouras it's accessible. An actual dinasour doctor lady doesn't get invited though or can't afford to go ?
+Gordon Marshall I'm assuming you are speaking about the character, Zia Rodriguez. She felt the awe and wonder because she never got to see the Dinosaurs up close and personal, but only watched them through RU-vid videos. So, next time you wanna make a nitpick comment, like this weak excuse of a comment of yours, know what the hell you are talking about. :)
Rebel Alliance Well that went from 0 to 11 rather quickly ;). I apologize for offending you with my irrelevant weak excuse for an opinion about something that doesn't matter at all.
Ugh... regardless of a class struggle plot line that was never presented in JW1... it was a central part of the previous films narrative that the parks senior management / bod felt that they had to create new, bigger, scarier hybrid Dino’s because of attendance drop off, due to the problem that standard Dino’s were becoming mundane or were at least in danger of it. It was also a meta commentary on the film industry and JW itself. But let’s just forget all that, the sequel did.
I would kill to see a good story driven Jurassic Park game. Like imagine a dead space - inspired Jurassic park where you have to survive on the island, scavenging for supplies while also fending off raptors and avoiding larger dinos
Rebel Alliance No way. Did you see all the critics getting a hard on for the Last Jedi? Many claiming it do be “the best Star Wars yet.” They were the complete opposite of harsh and praised it simply for the brand name.
Funny thing is they aren't anti capitalism they are anti crony capitalism but the idiots writing and directing don't understand the difference cause they are all Marxist
I bet it would be difficult to talk to the guy on the left about anything. When it comes to conversations, he's not a very flexible person or open minded, he sticks to one thought without ever leaving his zone of comfort and attempting to explore new realms of possibilities and learning why others think the way they do. Its just his way of doing things. He has automated responses in his head and never tries to evolve his way of thinking
Romi Rom no actually he is the most honest and real side reviewer that Joe has had yet. All the others just agree with Joe the whole time. Alex has improved the movie reviews in my opinion
Shawn Reinhart OJ isn't just a yes man. The problem is usually when anyone has a different opinion. They a barely able to expand on it. Before AJ cuts them off argues against it and then that's it. Only person I truly ever thought just agreed with everything Joe said when it comes to movie reviews was Delrith as not sure he has ever had really a single original opinion on a film that Joe didn't already expand upon.
My guy that's good. It means we're getting different opinions in these reviews. If they all just conformed to each other's opinions then what's the point of having three reviewers. We don't want an echo chamber, we want different perspectives
BDH's character didn't "change" from letting the dinosaurs live to letting the dinosaurs die. Her initial rescue mission was to save them from a destructing island and move them to a safe one, with no civilians. Letting them out on the U.S. mainland is a little different, wouldn't ya say?
This is what I've been saying. The Claire Dearing and Dinosaur Protection Group didn't want to bring the Dinosaurs onto mainland, they wanted to put them on another island. This was so easy to understand, but apparently these three dumbasses manage to not catch that part.
He likes movies with substance, not spectacle. Look at the movies they've been reviewing! All "entertaining" and "spectacle" but pretty much zero to offer aside from that.
Contrary to what some other comments are saying, I actually really appreciate Alex's input. Best to be honest about what you thought rather than just desperately look for positives that you don't personally see.
My son aged 9 loved the film, but I had issues. Angry joe was spot on with how silly a lot of it was. The first part of the film was like king kong and the other half reminded me of Aliens. The girl was like Newt from Aliens with the lead actors wanting to protect her. Also they could have made a fortune with human cloning instead of dinosaurs.
buttons551 isn't that the point of this series? Everyone knows these guys aren't educated film critics. They're basic consumers like the MAJORITY of the viewerbase of these movies. In that sense, what they say is MORE important than what any hard core film analyst has to say really. And the movie was shit. Clichéd and not even thrilling.
I don’t know how anyone can go into the movie excited or surprised considering the f**cking trailers have ruined everything I was originally going to see both the incredibles 2 and fallen kingdom tomorrow at the drive in but I can’t because they’re playing on 2 separate screens at same time so I had to pick and I went with the incredibles 2 for 2 reasons 1. It may not be there next week when I do go to see the fallen kingdom and 2. I can go into that movie not knowing anything but I can’t with fallen kingdom because the studio thinks “ok we need to get people into the theatre to see the movie so throw everything from the film into the trailers that’ll get people into the theatre” I mean there’s difference between getting people excited for a film and outright spoiling I mean avengers infinity war and the incredibles 2 did this why can’t other films do this that’s part of the reason films are suffering now a days because you throw everything into the trailer thus you’re making people not wanna go see the movie because they got nothing to be hyped about because all that hype was destroyed in the trailer
I HATED the first Fallen Kingdom trailer for that reason. Why are they showing so many action & suspense scenes in the trailer? Like the girl hiding in bed at the end. The T-Rex "saving" them during the escape from the island. Why did they ruin that??? Fuck
It was a fun popcorn flix. Not as fun as World 1, but sets up more fun for the 3rd one. Favorite scene, the Indoraptor smiling. It was a horribly stupid set up, but seeing a raptor smile was priceless.
karl jonson i agree there was a lack of dinosaur movies out there i just think something else should have been made than a reboot of the jurassic park franchise because there’s just so much you can do with that concept before it gets old. In the end it was a financial decision and a film with the jurassic name will sell more tickets
"Correct the mistake, the Lord volcanoes the island to wipe out the dinosaurs . . . humans take them off the island and release them." Way to go humans! Now the Lord has to volcano the entire planet! lol
Rebel Alliance And that they should that's what the review is about. I just picked up on the mistake right away, I went into this movie not wanting to see it.
+Nieznajomy43 They did confirmed that there were some male Dinosaurs on Jurassic World/Isl Nublar. Must have been the ones on Isla Sorna. Also, DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE A BABY TRICERATOPS IN THE FILM??? They were clearly breeding on the island.
Love OtherJoe calling out Joe "you usually do." - Lmao! - Also Alex is always appreciated, that guy is almost always on the level and consistently has good points.
Honestly, Joe Johnston is not a competent director and neither is Colin. He's crap at his job. Jurassic Park III is garbage that shouldn't have come out. It needed to end at TLW: Jurassic Park with Lost World including the side-stories from Jurassic Park: the Game. Then the rest of this crap shoot wouldn't have happened. Joe Johnston and Colin Trevorrow do terrible movies.
@@ChrisThomas-xq1ft Honestly in my opinion, none of the Jurassic Park movies are garbage. I like all of them, even Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
You have to realize that children watch these films, and the ones who want to buy the toys and merch of Jurassic World are children, and grown adults. And besides, they're not going to just all of a sudden have a graphic and very gory scene of a Carnivore ripping into a Herbivore, that shit will seriously can scar a child and we don't want that to happen, cause they'll never want to watch another Jurassic Park Film again. As much as I would really really really want to see more gory, graphic, and way more violent scenes in Jurassic World, we have to think about the children. We want to easy their way into the Franchise and become a Jurassic Park Fan. And along the line, when they're older, they can start getting into a more graphic and intense version of Jurassic Park, maybe like the Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park. The children are what will hold onto the love and passion that the Fans give to the Jurassic Park Franchise, and so they can pass it down to the next generation of children and to even their children.
godzillarex888 what did he say with suicide squad, yeah it wasn't a great movie but it wasn't a bad it had alot of good elements in it that kept you watching and wanting to see what happened next the characters we're pretty good of course you prob hate the joker and harley quinn but other then them it was a fine movie with a good plot, setting and ending
I grow tired of the constant blockbluster-bashing (for the sole purpose of them being blockbusters) but this movie was genuinely bad. The script was uneven, uninspired, and unbelievable. This movie existed for the sole purpose of being a cash grab. I'll probably review it just so I can properly articulate just how much I am disappointed with the current direction of the franchise, but it makes me mad to even talk about. Imagine back to when Spielberg made the first Jurassic Park and asking the question? What MORE could we do with this universe? We could have had some conceptually brilliant continuation, not this utter pile of steaming dog shit. Maybe one day we'll get something worthwhile.
CinemaWizardBoy all i read was bitching. I have yet to read one good reason out of your mouth why the movie was bad. What does an "uneven" script even mean
Well, he did say he was going to review it to articulate his points. So checking out his channel may answer some of your questions. I, unfortunately, find myself agreeing with his/her assertions. This was the first Jurassic film that I found to be so bad that I wanted my money back. This film doesn't need to exist. All they need to do is show the last 20 minutes in a teaser to build up the next film, which is exactly what the producers are already trying to do. Sadly, a cash grab doesn't sound so far fetched considering how much the film was lacking.
MysticStrike ForceSSJ3 No, absolutely not. A phone can’t handle all the gameplay and graphics the game has. Not to mention they already have a mobile game. The game is overpriced I’ll give you that but that’s because the developers didn’t have all the time they wanted to make the game.
The game being $60 is the reason why i haven't purchased it yet. It looks alright to me but i'll wait for it to go on sale. I was hoping to see a review from Joe about it even though it's pretty hard to miss since all the youtube gamers are playing it.
Ryan Gulliver It’s fun at first, then gets boring and repetitive around island four. Graphics are good, dinosaur selection is decent. A lot of missing things that should be in the game like a day and night cycle, sleeping dinosaurs, breeding dinosaurs, decorations, attractions available. The game does decent in replay ability, just gets dry. I would wait... but I know the developers will keep fixing the game.
From what I understand they jump into the review the moment they come back from watching the movie so... does watching the movie count as prep work ? :D
What I don't understand is why he's acting like the first Jurassic World was bad. Does anyone remember the movie coming back into theaters due to popular demand?! Saying the first is bad is BS. Why do u think it got a sequel?!
+Steven Burnside - Star Wars: The Last Jedi was also a high grossing film and look how many people hated it. The amount a movie rakes in shouldn't factor into it being a good movie or not. Personally, I found Jurassic World very by-the-numbers in terms of current Hollywood film making. Pretty boring IMO.
If Joe thinks Jurassic World is bad, that’s his opinion. I can’t believe I actually have to say this, but not everyone on the planet has the same opinions. I don’t agree with a good amount of his opinions, but at least it’s something different.
I'm probably going to like this movie I like the first movie of Jurassic World and I do like Jurassic Park Jurassic Park is the best one but I like Jurassic World too
With everyone taking a dump on JwFK, you have to realize they are out of source material. Marvel is doing great because they have thousands of comics of source materials. There are only 2 books to the Jurassic franchise. Micheal Chrichton, the author is dead and has been for 10 years. The fan base waited since 2001 for any Jurassic and we (the fan base) loved it and you have to give credit to directors doing their best with no source material
Joe, get lapel mics for your co-hosts, for Christ's sake. I'm so tired of having to turn up the volume to hear what OJ & Del or your other thirds are saying, only for my eardrums to get blown the fuck out by you 2 seconds later. Also, it'd be at least courteous to have your panelists' scores factored into the final total, or displayed separately.
i liked the movie but i have to agree that there was no sense of danger for the main characters. i kinda believe its done for all the kids n stuff that theres like no real gore or whatever because kids need to see the movie so the parents can buy a lot of toys and so that there is a bigger audience. characters have to die like in game of thrones or something idk. the black science guy shouldnt have been the funny type but just more like a normal main science character that you could kill off because the supposed to be funny people rarely die :p
Yeah , there were a lot of scenes where i feel like i'm watching the previous films . Maybe fallen kingdom is paying homage , but even so i'd appreciate it if it did it's own thing.
How can these guys even give a 4? It was a great and fun summer blockbuster movie like every Jurassic movie. It sounds like they expected some in depth movie or forgot to put their nostalgia goggles off
So, does it have dinosaurs killing dinosaurs and other people? I gotta be honest with you guys but i feel a complete disconnect with the review. I don’t go to dinosaurs movies hoping for plot I go there to see dinosaurs. In the same way I don’t go to Godzilla movies to watch Bryan Cranston (you still the man Walter but you got more screen time then bigG and that’s a no-no). Stop saying things like, “why’d they ruin a perfect franchise!” Seriously? Jurassic parks story plot and characters (excluding repeating characters) have not been good for 4 movies. Annoying characters? They are supposed to be dinosaur food not analyzed through a Hubble space telescope. I thought everyone got this memo by now, I mean we are on movie five. We know how it goes. Stable, secure location- cheap jumpscare (lookin at you, you fuckin little pig)- coincidence breaks stable secure location- dinosaur dinner time- dinosaur fight time- happy sunset. Just funny how perception and point of view can make people think/see so differently.
The best thing about this movie was its opening sequence. After that, it rapidly went bad. I think the worst thing they did was to take something that was about scale and space and wonder, and cram it into a shoebox set. They should have done a lot more on the island, and a lot less indoors.
I had alot of fun watching this in the cinema!! But one thing I see no one complaining about is the over usage of scenes and shots from the older films but the first film is literally as old of me so screw it haha
Think they're all a little too harsh on it tbh it was really well made, the story was a bit silly and it had some dumb parts but it was visually spectacular, the volcano destruction scenes were amazing and the horror in the second half was really well done. The director has a knack for style. I also love where they're going with the story eg black market dinos, or dinopocalypse. Entirely new direction for this series. And the music was amazing.
ketchupkatsup I completely agree with you. The first act was exactly what I expected it to be, a dinosaur rescue mission. But then it turns into a suspenseful thriller, and then a true horror movie at the end. It is at worst a decent movie, but the end was awesome imo.
To be fair, Jurassic Park had it's fair share of dumb parts; people are just blinded by nostalgia. Dennis Nedry was a laughable fat nerd stereo type with no character development. Even his death was ridiculously cartoonish right down to the banana peel sound effect. Don't even get me started on Lex's sudden inexplicable proficiency with the park's systems near the end. Even the plot of Jurassic Park was a complete ripoff of the original Westworld, only with dinosaurs instead of robots. People were so awed by special effects that they failed to recognize that they were watching unoriginal garbage that only existed as anti-technology, anti-science propaganda. It's a franchise that should have died a long time ago. Though to be honest, I love every damn movie. I love Taco Bell too.
It kinda seems Joe ignored the movie, instead deciding to just complain about e everything instead of actually bothering to listen to the movie. As for the "dinosaurs saving everyone" part, did he just conveniently forget how the og Jurassic Park (which is widely considered a masterpiece of a movie) had that entire point as the god damn ending?!
Totally agreed with most of it. Film was terrible. Script was just lazy. Can I ask though that for your next set of reviews you take out the repeating trailers in the background. They are distracting and annoying.
I honestly really liked this movie, it was better than the first Jurassic World, and better than all the JP sequels. I do think that it went into the drama and subplots too much and lacked a bit of dino action, but what this did have was REALLY good.
I loved the first Jurassic Park and liked Jurassic World. This movie was unexpectedly great in my opinion. Especially after watching the awful trailers for it. I bet most people complaining about this movie haven't even watched it yet.
actually, there was a good amount of robotics in the movie. from the full scale raptor, to the indoraptor head and neck. its just that they add cgi to it to give them more life.
I've seen all of the jurassic park, . & jurassic world movies. And i think this is better than the first jurassic world. I've seen it today with no expectations and it was okay
The most hilarious part in this movie is when indoraptor smirk at the audience while playing dead... the producer should dress that raptor in tuxedo and give it wine glass already.
Jurassic park was a park that never opened to the public. Jurassic World was the very first Dinosaur Amusement park to open to the public and would be the very last after the incident in December 2015.
I really think the movie should have been more dark. Like, the dark ramifications of cloning, the death and destruction of the island. I think they should have worked on it more for the darker parts of it. I personally wasn't even like "oh that's not a dinosaur" but quite often I was kind of really convinced there was living beings on there. Also, they cheated, they had baby videos of Blue, had her cry during the surgery, and her interactions with Owen were nice. I think they should have just gone full on wth the dark parts. An interesting take that I knew wouldn't recapture my childhood, it was a rescue op, I wasn't expecting an adventure. Hell, the first up close casualty has you see the guy's face getting ripped into up close. I mean, I think they should have just dived full into the dark bits. Owned up to it fully and went balls to the wall. As Joe said, I think a monster film should have been a bigger focus.
Movie and gaming experiences are subjective. No need to argue over dimes and nickels. Now, both are basically reboots following similar storylines, just bringing the movies for the new generation to big screen again. The old JP was what they were thinking of a futuristic Jurassic park in the 90s.The new one(1st one) shows our perspective now and it's cool on its own. We wouldn't even think we would see those things on the big screen again, as a fan you are excited more or less. As a critic you can still see the flaws, but enjoy it. I know Joe is a movie nerd basically and that's why he does those. The last one was weak imo though...just going through the motions for a another summer blockbuster. The trailer was deceiving as well, meaning we saw less cool shit..like some cool bits were in their entire length in the trailer and that was it. Anyways...dimes and nickels. ;)
Do these guys like anything? I’m pretty sure no one was expecting this to be an Oscar nominated film. It was a fun summer film. Not to mention they missed and have a lot of facts wrong. For example: Pratt’s character was a former navy seal The old guy mentioned there was a lab in the mansion
The dinosaurs didn't feel like they were animals. More like a cartoonish version of animals. The scene with the Brachiosaurus is pure nostalgia fan service. The animal walked in a dilapidated park. Took 1 bite of the palm tree and walk away. Like WTF animals don't just take 1 bite. They hang around munching on the tree for a while. And why the fuck did the Pachycephalosaurus broke through the wall like a cartoon character? And what's up with the T-Rex? He just keeps popping in the scene biting the villains and runs away.
Dude on the left is right. You get 20 minutes of awesome dinosaur action. Right out the gate. It then turns into an hour and some change of dinosaurs stuck in cages while greedy corporate types back stab each other. BORING!
