You produce such wonderful content, especially this hidden gem series!!! im so excited to visit Kyoto again next year and try everything out that you feature on this channel 🥰
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart! I have visited this chain in Tokyo and was bummed out that I did not remember exactly where it was or what the store was called. The atmosphere was great, and for some reason there was a lot of rock music playing in the restaurant which I really enjoyed. Very informative and well put together video!
You would think that a restaurant in Japan would have Japanese rock bands but the play list sounded like it was from a Chili's, TGI Friday's or some other chain restaurant here in the States.
I love the system that the restaurant uses for ordering and payment, plus I like how the table has that little drawer for the napkins & chopsticks! In Florida here in the US, we have a Korean barbecue restaurant that similar to your Yakiniku restaurant. But the Yakiniku restaurant looks so much better! ❤
My God in Heaven. It's not supper time yet, and this video opened a black hole in my stomach. I'll have to suffer through two other hours trying to control this singularity in my belly. XD
Oh it’s nice that they give you an English option. I’m still learning Japanese, I’m not confident in it at all but I’m excited to go to Kyoto some day!
Perfect video And in the background my favourite music! Just perfect combo ❤️🎵🎶🎶🎶 I see that this is really nice place to visit with friends and family. 💚
I am mostly just floored by how you eat your rice with a raw egg and it tasting good. You can do that?? Like, as in, it's safe enough to eat it? I've always been told to NEVER eat eggs raw or even semi-raw!
Thank you for leaving a comment! I wouldn’t do it outside of Japan either! I don’t know exactly how they are different, but we say that eggs in Japan are safe to eat raw! At least I have been eating it since I was in elementary school, and I’m still very healthy so😊
It's funny that while I've been listening to Japanese '80s city pop, Japanese people are apparently listening to American '80s music. And everything looks delicious, you are so fortunate to be able to eat at such a nice place. A similar style restaurant where I live would be too expensive for me.
Very nice change Shogo 👍 Because this channel is dedicated to lectures and education your family is only mentioned. I did subscribe because I sought to learn more about Japan but I really enjoyed the field trip and a chance to be introduced to your wonderful family 👪 ❤
The computerised menu with language options is such a fantastic idea. I'm not sure I'm dealing with the idea of raw egg though. Isn't that a salmonella risk?
Not there, really they have different processing methods and much higher cleanliness standards over there, in part, I suppose, because raw eggs are part of the diet so much there. Here in the US it's not so advisable, of course, unless you go right to a small farm and otherwise take care.
Eggs are cleaned and stored differently in Japan. So don't worry, in Japan there is no risk of salmonella and it is completely normal there to eat raw eggs :)
I loved discovering your videos, they are interesting and I love your honesty about your experiences. I've been to Japan four times now, twice for work (with some vacation after the second work trip), once to visit a friend who lives there and the most recent time was to visit my brother when he was working there. This video reminded me of getting yakiniku with my mom and brother in early 2020 when we visited Kagoshima. I really like yakiniku since you get a good variety of things; the soup, bowl of rice and in our case a salad bar which really complimented the meat we ate. And shochu of course! The sweet potato shochu from Satsuma tastes great. Keep up the good work!
I lived in Japan for 3 years and one of my top favorite things to do was to go eat Yakiniku and go to Sushi-go-round restaurants. I think I had withdrawals once I left. lol Just thinking about Yakiniku makes my mouth water.
Hello 🤗 I'm a follower of your channel congratulations I really enjoy the content!! 👏🏻 It would be great if you can talk about Sakamoto Ryoma and the Meiji restoration!!! 😀 Greetings from Canada to Kioto! 😄
Yeah I really want to go to a yakiniku place when I go to Japan and that looks like a pretty good spot. As a Canadian I also got nostalgic with Avril Lavine and Sum 41 playing in the background, hah!
I like this! There is a similar restruant in LA county where I am from, I love it there. Except we still had server. American culture is different, I’ll be frank, I wish sometimes I did my own pay, and my own service.
Yes, I might like to try Magyu beef myself. Japan is very high on the list of countries I'd like to visit. Has been since my early years. It's a country I view very favourably. Of course, the language barrier may be a bit of an issue, particularly outside of Tokyo and Kyoto and among those born before 1947. But although I speak very little Japanese, I have an extensive knowledge of the customs and etiquette of the country.
I love the background music, Shogo-san, and not what I'd expect in Japan (I could see J-pop but wasn't expecting English lyrics.) Here in the states, it's not uncommon to go to a buffet alone, I assume it's less common to go to one of these alone. As years go by, I doubt I'll ever get to Japan, but it's nice to see places are popping up aimed at us single/less-social folk. And I never considered the social stigma of going alone. I'm quite comfortable in my American gluttony I don't think I'd have given it a second thought, lol.
My girlfriend and me go to a 焼肉 once a month. It has become one of our traditions. lol But it tends to get pricy, so maybe we could go to this one next time. lol I see in Google Maps there is one 焼肉ライク pretty close to my school in Tokyo! I'll try to go there when I can. Thanks for the tip, Shogo! 😊
Man I would love to go eat Yakiniku again. We actually have Gyutaku here in Hawaii, however it’s not exactly the same as Japan. The meat is not quite as good. Japanese meat literally melts in your mouth. American Gyutaku meat is more like eating bite sized steak which isn’t bad, but Japanese meat is just at a different level of delicious.
Great vid Shogo, what you're saying is: If you like Yakiniku, check out Yakiniku Like!!! .....I was planning on going vegan next year......., but NOPE!!!!🔪🐂🔪
You should go large occasionally its statistically better value for money. Go in hungry walk out stuffed. That is what I'm talking about. Food mastery. Them beautiful wagyu cows are so lovely. Id never let any go to waste.
I couldn't help but notice Bon Jovi livin' on a Prayer playing in the background so do Japanese play a lot of English singing music? Also I saw at the beginning on the video that they accept card and e payment. Is Japan starting to slowly change to payments by card rather than cash or is it just some stores?
Can you make a video about the Barakumin? I think it will be very good to talk about the discrimination against them in the context of the former caste system of Japan. Thank you.
