Inspirational, widowed 2 years ago, and living alone, I think I will amend my funeral instructions to include this song...amen David McCabe Dublin ireland
I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana - the most unique city in the world in my opinion. I saw my first Jazz Funeral at the age of 6. This brings back fond memories.
An update - My father died suddenly on Veteran's Day, November 11th. He was an Air Force Veteran. My Beloved Angel Dog Julie went to Heaven on September 22, 2022. This Gospel Hymn brings me much comfort among my tears.
Walking close with the Lord! What a better privilege , blessing and life is there than walking close to Jesus. Beautiful music to the ear and comforting the soul. God bless you all!
Alls good its all about our dear Lord we love thee sweet Jesus All Glory be to God our loving Sacred heart Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Amen We love Thee In Jesus name Amen
I am a devout Christian, as a musician, where could I belong to a church to work in a church in Portsmouth UK. HAPPY CHRISTSMAS, AND A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR. God bless his son, FOR OUR CHRISTMAS....THE LORD...JESUSxxx
So pure and quintessentially New Orleans!! A classic rendering in the easily identifiable New Orleans style! This is a testament to the inimitable musical heritage of the world’s great music city!!!!
When I hear Joshua singing this it make me think, deep down I would think this is really what we all want, to walk closer with Our Blessed Lord Jesus, but sometimes things happen in life and we think our Blessed Lord seems to be distant or has moved away from us but it's then we should ask ourselves `who has moved` and if we're truthful with ourselves it doesn't take much working out, yeh there's more to life than you and me.
Beautiful! I am weak, but Thou art strong; Jesus, keep me from all wrong; I’ll be satisfied as long As I walk, let me walk close to Thee. Refrain: Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea, Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be. Through this world of toil and snares, If I falter, Lord, who cares? Who with me my burden shares? None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee. When my feeble life is o’er, Time for me will be no more; Guide me gently, safely o’er To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.
Hi, how are you doing. I hope you are safe and in good health. I'm Patti from California, looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here. I hope you don't mind, thank you.
this was my husband's favorite type of music. He went to heaven 1999. And wanted this at his memorial. So I got another group & it was a real tear jerk er. I could listen to it all day also. I grew up with my parents playing this on a 45 record player, & the sound came out the speaker of the big stand up radio. that was back in the middle 50's Brings back some of the best memories of my life. Thank you Jesus.

Absolutely beautiful, as a kid my nanny would take me to her Baptist Church. I was facinated by the hymns and the gospel songs. I must have been the only white kid in the room being half German and half Mexican. But it taught me to love everyone.
When I was just a little girl in Church, this was the one song I really loved. A Lady sang it as special music before the sermon & I have loved it ever since then. I was 4 or 5 years old & I am now 82. I still love it.
A real pleasure to watch, what a wonderful voice. My all time favourite is Mahalia Jackson spectacular hypnotic rendition for Louis Armstrong. See it on RU-vid, a true Gem with two of our greatest legends.
I believe Linda studied classical music for some years, fortunately she changed over to main stream music, she can sing any song she elects to do, unfortunately today in 2023 she has many health problems, and lost her voice, her many thousands of fans will miss her golden voice.
@@ronhill1908Ron, you are very kind. You keep well & strong too. We are both in the higher 'risk' group for this plague. Ain't it great? Your kindness is very welcome, this atmosphere of hate & vitriol has distressed me more than I realized. As Ringo(a fellow Sr. Citizen) still signs off - Peace & Love! ✌& 💘
Takes me back to Bourbon Street in the Sixties, couldn’t afford the drinks, smuggled in a flask and supplemented the couple drinks I ordered, stayed all night and then followed musicians to an impromptu Dixie session!
I greatly love the song...PRAISE JESUS for your lovely voice and the very beautiful instruments played by the wonderful GOD'S CHILDREN..TO GOD BE THE GLORY...😍
Earl Fatha Hines AllStars with Pops Foster on Bass…Eddie Smith on Trumpet, Darnell Howard on clarinet, Jimmy Archie on slide trombone, Earl Watkins on drums!
Reading all comments here and I realise that every one love this song, no matter who sings it. Marvelous. It should be like that for everything, but I think it's too much asked. Good time everyone.

I just had to subscribe. This song is and always has been a favourite, it is a beautiful song. The man singing has perfect voice for the song, which in my opinion was never meant to get Smoking Hot. It is the ballad of the dead, and the awakening of the new. Beautiful Song.

Granna Houston is in glad, glad, glad company. No doubt she and my grandmother, Orlando Dove (Mother Dove) are listening to Jazz and smiling down upon us. 🕊️🎶💜
The tone quality of the trumpet is amazing. The tone of the lead vocalist is equally rich and full. The dixieland section by the band was so much fun. I love it!
